Let's say they don't find any criminal. They have now gone through all this lawers cases and have inside info and hundreds of his clients. They will then use that info against a host of other citizens who are not named Trump.
I'd be shocked if he had any more clients than Trump and his circle at this point.
Cohen - as we've seen over the past few days/months - is an idiot and a flunky. Most of the people Trump hires are, because Trump is toxic, and no one wants to put their professional reputation on the line to work for a senile imbecile who bleeds money, will turn you for a time, and won't end up paying you when the bill comes due.
Especially when it comes to legal or financial matters, as Trump has been laughed out of those arenas for so long that he'd resorted to only working deals with weird oligarchs or mobsters.
Just remember that once upon a time you could hire a lawyer and your secrets were safe. Now the precedent is set so that you can never have fair representation ever again. I love how you guys are so happy about losing more of your rights.
No evidence from this atrocious violation of a citizen's rights should ever be admissible in court. This is truly disgusting abuse of power by the US government.
It's been two days now since you wrote this post. Have you had enough time to learn how this all works?
I'm not being a snarkmeister... serious question. Too many people are banging out un- or underinformed opinions about this and other stories all over the web. The justice system has protocols in place to protect against such abuses, and they have been scrupulously followed in this case. The chain of investigation and evidence has been observed under a microscope, and has been above reproach each step of the way.
I regularly visit the Lawfare website and subscribe to their podcast . The best legal minds in the nation have been weighing in on this ongoing story for more than a year. Thought I'd drop this 411 here, to help you get your learn on.
Fascinating web destination, loaded with quality content. Podcast features quality, peerless guests with good, in-depth interviews. Check them out!
A section from a piece in a NY Times article today;
client privilege in the case and planned to have a team of prosecutors who are not involved in the investigation — a so-called taint team — review the material to determine if they are protected by Mr. Trump’s legal relationship with Mr. Cohen.
The prosecutors also said that they have been investigating Mr. Cohen for months for a range of possible crimes and had already been secretly reading his emails.
Mr. Cohen’s lawyers have objected to the use of a taint team and, in yet another unusual move, a lawyer for Mr. Trump filed an emergency motion to the court on Sunday night, saying that the president also objected to that “extraordinary measure.” In her motion, the lawyer, Joanna C. Hendon, asked Judge Wood to give the documents to Mr. Cohen first so that she and the president can look at them and decide if any are protected by attorney-client privilege.
Going to be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Reports are leaning toward 'No Privilege' existing at all on most documents. If that's the case, it's all open to investigators.
Of course Trump wants the ability to decide what can't be shared, that's for obvious reasons. I think they are screwed myself. We'll see how it shakes out.

As has been pointed out before - they gave up lawyer/client because Trump was too dumb to know not to run his mouth in front of a press pool.
He told cameras and microphones that he had zero knowledge of campaign payments to Stormy Daniels, or any sort of discussion or agreement with Stormy Daniels.
Thus, there was no lawyer/client privilege to consider, as Trump claimed there wasn't one to be considered. That specific reason was cited in the warrant itself.
Smart (or barely competent) people answer with "You'll have to speak to my attorney about that" when asked publicly about legal matters. Trump's too dumb to know that.

AUSA McKay, just now: "Mr. Cohen has more attorneys than clients".
So once Trump is gone, we're stuck with Pence. Ugh. Only thing about Pence that is better than Trump is that I don't have to worry about him starting nuclear war, or getting in twitter fights with other leaders.
If we can get rid of Pence too, we still have Ryan... But at least we know he has no desire for reelection.

I'd rather keep Trump than have Pence.
Really, the only obstacle the GOP has had in swiftly marching through their agenda is Trump himself. He's so dumb and petty that he often trips over his own tie and impedes them.

All the best people.
He listed Sean Hannity as a client. The number of clients is now up to three.
Sean Hannity devoted the last two years of his life to fawning over Trump like a Farah Fawcett poster, and in return the Feds are going to be able to run wild on his sexual harassment settlements.
They're allowed for discovery because Trump's dunce lawyer used the same legal pseudonyms for Trump and Hannity.
This is funny. For all the headaches of dealing with these peoples' petulant and inept racist reactionary politics, this is a laugher that should be soaked in.

Hannity's use of FOX network to deliver fake news and GOP propaganda could also = obstruction of justice.
Wonder if Nunes is also a client.

I would go out on a limb and guess that's almost impossible.
Hannity's cases thus far look to be simple sexual harassment suits. So basically, there's a huge chance all of the depositions from his creepy behavior become public.
They're admissable because Trump hired a lawyer so dumb that he used the same legal aliases for Trump and Hannity NDA's.
The caveat is that Trump's lawyer is also so spectacularly stupid that he recorded phone conversations. So if he and Hannity spoke on the phone about direction of coverage...
i loved that Fox news had to break a story on their own colleague.
Shep smith reporting on it was glorious.
“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”
lol, this guy just said the same exact thing PDR has been saying

Doubt it., that whole lawyer/client thing the left is trying to destroy, but please hold your breath!
Privilege does not extend to criminal acts. If criminal acts are found, Cohen will be leveraged because of them. 45Hairpiece will be named as an "unindicted co-conspirator." He'll not be prosecuted during his term as POTUS, but law enforcement will be waiting on the porch of the White House on his last day in office- with handcuffs.
He might not even get to leave the south lawn on Marine One.
Doubt it., that whole lawyer/client thing the left is trying to destroy, but please hold your breath!
For the eighth time, and I'll do bold all caps, go slowly if you need to:
TRUMP WAIVED HIS LAWYER-CLIENT PRIVILEGE BECAUSE HE WAS TOO DUMB TO KNOW ANY BETTER. HE CLAIMED ON CAMERA THAT HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT STORMY DANIELS OR A PAYMENT, AND THAT IF A PAYMENT WAS MADE, COHEN DID IT BY HIMSELF, THUS ALLOWING THE FEDS TO RAID COHEN'S OFFICE.
Doubt it., that whole lawyer/client thing the left is trying to destroy, but please hold your breath!
Rosenstein tells Trump he is not a target of Michael Cohen investigation
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told President Trump last week that the president is not a target in the Michael Cohen investigation, and that the investigation is focused solely on Cohen, the president's personal attorney, a source familiar with the probe told Fox News on Thursday.

The way that is worded, Trump could very easily been the one to have said this.
Trump's divorce lawyer just went on CNN and said that he thinks Cohen will flip to avoid being raped in prison.
I can't stop laughing. Every nimrod Trump surrounds himself with is dumber than the last.
To add to this, when Trump's divorce lawyer said that he thinks Michael Cohen will flip on Trump to avoid being raped in prison, he added "prison has a racial overtone".
the problem with loyalty is that you have to actually surround yourself with people who are loyal.
there's a reason flynn flipped. there's a reason papadopoulos flipped. there's a reason Gates flipped.
manafort keeps trying to find BS reasons to get the case dropped, but its obvious to everyone he's holding out for a pardon.
when your best argument is "yea, he caught me but he had no business catching me", the closer the trial dates come, the more realistic butt rape becomes.

So the ever-popular "unnamed source close to the situation" told a personal Trump appointment, who forwarded the information to Fox News... and you just gobble that up as fact...
Doubt it., that whole lawyer/client thing the left is trying to destroy, but please hold your breath!

BTW 40's posts sure sound a lot like Hannity's reporting for a guy that doesn't watch Hannity. Maybe they are related or something. Twins separated at birth maybe?
Trump literally just told the world that there is something to flip.
he can not possibly be this stupid. and yet....

Yeah, they keep doing this.
When Trump's divorce lawyer kept rambling on about how Cohen would flip because he didn't want to be raped by black men in prison, Erin Burnett kept trying to throw him a life preserver and ask "you're not saying there's something to flip on, are you?"
This is the result of a Haberman piece. Trump threw a fit this morning and kept posting, deleting and re-posting insane rants about Cohen.
Last night, he raged out and started naming people from the DNC he wanted to charge, until one of the adults made him delete it.
