And as a kid in 5th Grade and then Middle School.

Didn't realize you were that young. Younger than my eldest. When the move was made in 95...I didn't follow NFL at all. Ended devoting my time to coach 3-4 youth football teams at least two as HC and assistant to others. This sports bar was just prior to 95...after which in 2001 when I felt it ok to love the Browns again as my heart was Broken. I got the NFL Ticket.

wink Curtis Martin was a good role model that is for sure.

lol. it's good to hear your story. I think I remember you saying that you coached, or something about your son playing some sport was very special that you guys shared.

i'm not that young. 32 years old. I've been on here awhile, for sure. I think my first memories were the Kelly Holcomb vs Tim Couch debate, Jeff Faine, and when we drafted KW2.

But, I'm sure you were before me. In fact, your name is one of the earliest I remember.(Dawgtalkers original board). In fact it's pretty amazing how long people have been around here. I mean, when I first started, I think Diam had something mean in his signature about Peen. At the very least, they certainly weren't liking each other at the time (sad that that's what I remember)

The names I can think of off the top of my head; Peen, Diam, Vers, Purp, you, Arch, DawgMichelle (who found me on that sorry excuse for a message board that Dawgtalkers became when the Official Website Changed it). A couple years after I joined cfrs started posting. Oh, and a guy named OverToad who I dunno what happened to. And the infamous CoachB

I think you'd be surprised about some of the ages of people on here. Also, how long people have been on here. It's a big part of my life, as there's not many Cleveland Browns fans in our area.

My friends and wife can only hear me talk about the Browns so much. lol, in fact, just made a 20$ bet with my best buddy tonight for Browns vs Jets Week 3. I straight up told him, we're a lot better than he realizes. We've kind of got a squad and he better hope that Teddy Bridgewater can bring it because we will roll that team

I believe Nick Chubb will be a better pro than Barkley not just because he is a Brown, he is simply a tougher downhill runner ... JMHO

We will run by committee, Barkley is a committee.
Ours could very well be better than his.

Barkley will be a great Football player a lot pending on his health status. But in lieu of a possible QB problem, it might be what we have seen in the past. Attack the LOS to stop the run...if pass keep coming and hit the QB why I don't think Eli can last much longer and then they got nothing there. So it will be beat me from the air cause we are taking the Run game away. Most will point at Barkley and say SEE...but hey its the NFL if teams game plan to take a RB away it usually is done.

Wish he was a Brown as we finally got what looks to be a passing game that can beat teams!

I agree on the passing game looking up.

That said, I don't think our rushing game is going to be slack.

The problem about gameplanning against Barkley is that you have to remember that Odell will be on the field as well. It's not going to be like the Jaguars, where you can just put 9 guys in the box and hope Fournette gets stopped for minimal yardage.

Tab this statement is crazy...He will be great unless he gets hurt ? SMH.. how in the heck can anyone say this.

People thought a two time Heisman Trophy Winner in Archie Griffin was going to be great.. People thought Trent Richardson was going to be great..

I really believe the best thing to do about predicting a players success is to see what they do on a Foot Ball Field...

LeCharles Bentley was going to be a H.O.F player pending on his health status...What happened with that ?

Barkley didn't impress me in Collage...not sure why all of a sudden he became a H.O.F inductee.

Never said it was...just staying with the thread which was about Bakley, only reason I was talking about him. Love Chubb and Hyde, always impressed with Hyde from the first year I saw him. Was curious why he wasn't pimped that much by OSU fans cause thought he was good. Very happy with our running crew. The acquisition of Hyde and Chubb definitely an upgrade on Crowell!

I think he'll be a great guy out of the backfield and a home run threat, but I also was a little weary of his in-between-the-tackles ability ... he had the propensity to bounce stuff outside, PSU fans always said he got little production w/the hard yards.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Yeah it does seem played out, even if it was me who bumped this with some new thoughts.

I guess we'll see what happens. There's one camp that thinks that Barkley is going to transform the Giants into a juggernaut and that Eli Manning will be a great quarterback in his late 30s and into his 40s. The Giants will bounce back and challenge the Eagles in the NFC East.

There are others who think that Eli has been overrated and is regressing, who think that building a franchise around a running back is foolish in the modern NFL, and that what was once the football smarts of that organization is now in Jacksonville. Admittedly-- that last bit about Coughlin is kind of a unique take but I do think it's the case.

Basically, all of it is a last-ditch effort to get Eli a 3rd ring to one-up his big brother Peyton (just my guess).

There is no way Eli is able to play at a high level as long as Peyton did; he's on his way out now.... so, if he's going to get another, it has to happen SOON.

Made me yawn, too, 1oldMutt.

Won't take a thread for me. I liked him and wanted him if possible. now, he is just another guy to beat.

It's ironic that the longest running and most active thread in the draft forum is about a player we didn't take.

Exactly... I think they drafted very much for now... Eli is almost done and the. The giants will be in trouble... surprised they didn't take a qb in round two...
