1. Don't understand the hate on Mayfield by a few.

2. We are drafting a RB that I'm sure of. Probably 2-3 DBs.

3. Wonder if we draft a Center?

4. Rosen in my guess had to have stated his displeasure to be a Brown. Probably conveyed through his Agent. His ex-coach pretty much did so.

5. Combine medical findings are very important for a lot of players.

6. Glad we are exploring every possible trade scenario with the #4 pick. Hope we pull of the Bronco one.

The last 2 months or so I've been watching and listening to all the pundits opinions on the draft, thank the Lord the day is finally here. The 2 I've been most impressed with are Greg Cosell and Louis Riddick. I don't know if they'll be right or wrong but I did enjoy listening to their opinions and views more than the others. Both smart men that know their stuff.

After the season ended I dreaded the offseason. The energy spent on talking about, listening to, reading about the draft and the players is vast. I especially hate all the silly articles with little to no merit. It's a huge blow when you spend all that energy and then finish worse than you ever have. However, it didn't take long to have that break and then get sucked in again. Today feels like when you were a kid waking up on Christmas morning. Super excited. Get this draft right and it will be transformative for the club.

I think the Browns should draft a quarterback.

Or has that already been posted?

I'm quite shocked that there hasn't been more posts and talk about this years draft. I would have thought people around Cleveland would've been more excited about it.

(Do I really need to put this in purple?)

Agreed PDX. You get sucked in, as I do, as we all do, because we love our Browns and want a winner in the worst way. No matter how much this team loses and the FO messes up I keep coming back; for the last 50 years. I imagine it will always be this way for me. Let's hope today is the 1st day of the beginning of a perennial contending team or may I say a winner! We all have waited too long, way too long.

The Browns have the opportunity to solidify their punting unit through the 2020s tonight.

I’m a big believer in “strength up the middle”. And drafting BPA. (Best punter available)

Michael Dickson, Texas and J.K. Scott, Alabama are by far the top-2 punters. They’d make a formidable one-two punch.

But if Scott is off the board by #4, And if Tanner Carew, Oregon (long snapper) has gone unnoticed by pick #4, the Browns have struck gold.

Carew also has the versatility to provide depth at kick-off holder on windy days.

The buzz about the Browns drafting Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield at No. 1 overall shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday night is deafening.

But for what it’s worth, as of late Thursday morning, Mayfield’s camp had yet to hear anything from the Browns, a person familiar with the situation told the Beacon Journal/Ohio.com.

Two league sources said they sense Mayfield will become the top pick. Whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen.

As for the fourth overall selection, the Browns are definitely interested in trading down, but new General Manager John Dorsey seems intent on not settling for less than his high asking price, a source said.

The Browns are also shopping cornerback Jamar Taylor and tight end Randall Telfer, a source said. On Wednesday, NFL Network reported Taylor could be dealt if Dorsey drafts a cornerback early. Taylor and Telfer were full-time starters for the Browns last season.

I just can't see passing on elite talent. You have the opportunity for the best qb and possibly the best position player if qb's go 1,2,3; basically the number one pick twice in the same draft. My top 3 are Chubb, Barkley, and Fitzpatrick. If you trade down below Tampa, you will most likely lose out on Fitzpatrick and move on to the second tier of talent. Day two pick are not worth it. Take your guy at four and start turning the potential of future gains into tangible results.

All you need is one BUZZ then 2 guys repeat it then 5 from each of them repeat it. Then 10 each...all from one brain fart...lol laugh

I mean I hope we get Mayfield it would be great. But if its Darnold which I presume is the pick - that too is a great pick up!

My hope through all this: Dorsey is taking a page from Game of Thrones, and leaking different names that we are going to draft to different people. Whatever name gets leaked to the media, that tells you who your snitch is.

Well will come back in a couple of hours to see if its near my pick in our Mock Draft. My wife working away on that 3 alarm Chili. My son (youngest) will be coming over around 7 for dinner. We will print our Player Ranking list and get the Pens and Highlighter all ready to go.

Greg Pruitt, Leroy Hoard, Joe Thomas was the short list of guys I really wanted that we actually end up drafting.

Now it could be Mayfield!

Ready to go to that couch and catch a nap. Go Dorsey.

Not feeling so good physically so will be a no show for the 10 year olds.

Later guys, our FUTURE starts Today!
Go Browns, Woof! Woof!! Woof!!!

So.... the odds are now in favor of us taking a kid who..... ran from the cops..... beaned an opposing player in the head with the football during pre game warm ups and was grabbing himself in the crotch during a game.

Only in Cleveland.

I'm not sure if this is for real, but if so, I'm on board with a punter, and I'm a Tanner Carew fan. We have Hughley signed for a million years or so, but I do like Tanner.

Obviously we have a different idea of what beaning opposing players in the head with the football and grabbing your crotch on the sideline means.

I don't think it means what you think it means.

He was out on his birthday.. drinking and WALKING, not driving.. and the cops stop him ?? I can't really say I blame him much, walking, not driving and the cops still want to hassle you ?

We have all regretted not picking Prescott, who was pulled over for a DUI prior to the draft. Give the guy a break. He is a fiery competitor.. Would you prefer Jay Cutler .. I think he is still available...

I will be sitting on my couch alone, just as I like to be when I'm preparing to have my heart ripped out, ground up, tossed on the floor, and fed to dogs.. which is how I usually expect to feel when watching my Cleveland teams participate in something meaningful.

I am honestly as nervous about this draft as I would be if there was a playoff game tonight.. probably because I understand if we get this wrong... that other thing, yea, that's not going to happen.

I'm nervous as well. I want to keep building like we have been the past two drafts and this draft was huge for dropping all of those future assets into. We lost a third rounder, which I think was pretty valuable, but for the most part, a majority of the accumulated picks still reside with us. So yeah, this draft is huge for us.

You obviously only saw part of the story.....

Quote:
On the night of February 25, 2017, things escalated quickly in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Mayfield was in town to visit some friends with his girlfriend when an incident occurred outside a Chinese restaurant. According to the Oklahoman, Mayfield was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Officers were speaking with another man after he witnessed someone steal Chinese food. Mayfield, who did not appear to have anything to do with the stolen food, started yelling and cursing as the officers spoke with the witness. Mayfield became belligerent and refused to cooperate. The officers approached Mayfield to ask him to speak with them. Mayfield refused and began to run away. At this point, the officers tackled him. ESPN had a slightly different account noting Mayfield told the officers he was trying to break up an altercation. ESPN also noted the police were in the area to investigate an assault and battery report.

Mayfield can be heard on the video, multiple times, asking, “What did I do?” Mayfield would later plead guilty to public intoxication, disorderly conduct and fleeing arrest. According to the Washington Post, the charge for resisting arrest was dismissed. The plea deal required Mayfield to pay multiple fines. According to The Washington Post, Mayfield paid $300 in fines for the three charges, $160 for the court costs and $483.20 in restitution. Mayfield also was required to complete 35 hours of community service in addition to attending an alcohol-education course.

By all accounts, the incident could have been avoided by answering the police’s questions and not attempting to flee from the scene. However, an intoxicated Mayfield did not appear to be thinking clearly. Mayfield later posted a lengthy apology on Twitter.

So it wasn't like he was "some innocent victim". Usually when you are yelling obscenities at the police, they will want to talk to you.

One of my favorite quirks about John Dorsey, Browns GM: As far as I know, he's the only NFL exec who sends recruiting videos to potential undrafted FAs before the draft. The 1st part is personalized to the player, and lauds his career. This is the rest. Kinda gets you jacked up!

Video in link.

I do think this is very, very cool and a smart idea. One question-- has he had speech impediment work done? I know it's odd to ask but it seems glaringly obvious to me of speech issues.

Mary Kay was the only one who reported that the Browns have cooled on Darnold. The guy that was told to has probably already had his dismissal letter typed up for Saturday. rofl
