The analytics guys love Baker, PFF has had him QB1 the entire time. Baker Mayfield seems to be the marriage of analytics and old school scouting methods. The spirit of Sashi Brown lives on!

ran a 4.84, Kizer btw was 4.83
He's quick and strong has a good burst but guess what. He's not a running QB. But if teams over play read option he can take off and know what to do with it.
For the guys all worried, instead of envisioning Manziel. Do yourselves a favor and envision Wilson possibly a better passer.
I can't stop giggling. Hey and if it is Darnold I'll still be a happy camper!
Only Allen could ruin my day. I agree, the entire football world has been talking about Darnold being the number 1 since LAST YEAR. I prefer Darnold, but im ok with anyone but JA

Also, one difference is that our coaches and front office didn't want Johnny. The owner made the pick. The owner ain't making this pick. I think.

Dane Bruegler also changed his final mock draft to Mayfield. If it doesn't go down this way, Dorsey will have punked the entire NFL world.
Which would be pretty impressive. Yeah, it would be!

Reading a couple of Tweets, and I do remember a late shift from Myles Garrett to Mitch Tribusky last year, the day of the draft, as well.
We'll see what happens.

The analytics department is still strong. And it seems like Wolf, Highsmith, and McLaughlin were all advocating for Mayfield as well.

mayfield isn't beating out Tyrod. I'm not betting against it, would you? I would possibly he would be ready to go around mid season if need be. TT is 6-2 we don't think about it.
How GREAT is TT? Would you draft HIM at #1 overall? THAT is a big difference. You take a guy at #1 overall he better be a STUD! A 30+ TD under 10 interception guy. He better be able to take the BEATING you get in the NFL. Especially in Cleveland. I like TT. I'm happy we got him. I think we can win with him if we surround him with play makers. But I sure as hell wouldn't spend the first pick in the draft on him... Nor would I do so for Mayfield. I could be wrong. Mayfield could be the next great thing. However, it would be bucking the ODDS and here in Cleveland we almost NEVER beat the odds.

Were SO OVERDUE to hit ... WAY OVER DUE ... Agreed. I'm a big Baker fan. Right behind Rosen. He just has this fire and the skills to back it up Solid arm, great in college, solid decision maker, tons of experience

If it is Baker that's fine. At least there are no accuracy issues with him. What good does it do when you’re on your back?

The analysts are all over Baker's jock but I bet that IF we take him they start in on the "Darnold was the best prospect and Cleveland blew it". Just how they operate.

I think the opposite. Darnold could be very good, but Mayfield will be great.
I am not overly concerned where he came from and whether the system he played in will translate to the NFL. He's walked on at two colleges and won the starting job. It will take care of itself.
I think what is so special about Baker is his attitude, personality, and intangibles. These are the things that can change a franchise around. You might be able to look at the top 4 quarterbacks and say they are "even across the board," but these are the things that put him over the top.

I also listened to a podcast where they talked about determining if a quarterback will be good or not and one of the most important traits that GMs look for in a quarterback is the ability to recall. And Dorsey made it a point to say that he was impressed that Baker memorized the oklahoma playbook in 2 days. I believe from my findings that this trait is also why Dorsey wanted Mahomes.
I am still in the middle of reading Steve Young's book (recommend) and I feel as though there's a similarities between him and Baker...but it was his photographic memory and ability to recall information that helped make him so great.
I found this interesting and I know a photographic memory doesn't make you a great quarterback, but I thought it was something I really hadn't considered in the past.

He's also really good at throwing the football. You've been pounding your table for this guy, and I've got no problem if you get your wish. I'd prefer Rosen. I'm fine if it's Darnold. But I definitely like Baker Mayfield. And if he starts winning football games for us, by god, i'll probably wear a stupid karate bandanna around too

The guy implanted in Berea as of this minute said there's no hard info it's Mayfield. Dorsey is mum on the subject. Who knows how its getting such strong legs.

Pounding the table seems extreme, but fair. I've said there are other quarterbacks I'm ok with, I just didn't want Allen.
This isn't me saying we need to get this guy, although it is. Since January there's been a lot of negativity towards Baker that I feel is unnecessary and driven by things Johnny has done. I've tried to convince those who continued to say he's Johnny, he's too short, he's this or he's that, that those things simply aren't true.
I'm trying to ease the pain of some who think this is a typical Browns move and we're doomed.... And I am expecting similar treatment if we actually DON'T draft Baker. I am usually not this invested in the process and don't usually care and trust the process, but this kid is so special (but with viable question marks), that this is definitely worth the risk.

So.... the odds are now in favor of us taking a kid who..... ran from the cops..... beaned an opposing player in the head with the football during pre game warm ups and was grabbing himself in the crotch during a game.
Only in Cleveland.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Only in Cleveland. Keep going, man. Wears a dumb ass Look at Me bandana. Is SLOW. Crumbles under pressure. Did you see Rex Ryan's film a little bit ago on NFL Live? UGLY. The Good is Good. The Bad is HORRIBLE. Didn't care to learn anything about San Diego playbook prior to visit. Oh, I'm lasting until 17. Why bother. Hello Brain Surgeon. Maybe we wanna Move UP for you? What franchise selected Baker Mayfield #1 overall in front of hall of famers Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Josh Allen, and Saquon Barkley. The Browns.

I just listed three things he's done that would ALL land him an NFL suspension. Now if people want to act like he's going to be some shiny new toy and ignore his lack of self control that would be worthy of being suspended in the NFL, you go ahead and do that.

Love me some rah-rah. This is good stuff. If we got a cheerleader who can win, great.
On the eve of the draft, I am still glad Kizer is gone. Hope to see some great help tonight.

Crumbles under pressure - really. Where'd you get that crap?
AS for beaning an opposing player in the head, I would be more concerned if he missed his intended target - then there would be accuracy concerns.

Maybe a show to get the Jets or Donkeys or some other team to offer up something stupid for the first pick. Darnold is the pick IMO...that ain't worth much but hey...
