So.... the odds are now in favor of us taking a kid who..... ran from the cops..... beaned an opposing player in the head with the football during pre game warm ups and was grabbing himself in the crotch during a game.
Only in Cleveland.

Dorsey has not had a problem drafting players with concerns off the field.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
I just listed three things he's done that would ALL land him an NFL suspension. Now if people want to act like he's going to be some shiny new toy and ignore his lack of self control that would be worthy of being suspended in the NFL, you go ahead and do that.
I'll say it again, I hope we take Darnold #1. He has the skills, size with a lot of upside and no baggage or injury concerns. The fumbling problem can be improved. He has leadership traits and seems to love the game. JMO

He didn't look good under pressure against Ohio State, that's the one the few games I've seen of him and he looked like a huge mess.
I'm not excited about Mayfield at #1, but if he's the guy, he's the guy and I'll support him and the team. What I like most about the kid is he has a fire and love for the game that might be unmatched in the draft (at least from all I've seen and read about all the players. If he ends up a Brown, I pray he's more Brees than Manziel.
Baker Mayfield had the highest completion percentage of all the QBs when faced with pressure.
In a conference where the spread offense rules, the WRs run free across the middle, and defense is an afterthought. Colt McCoy averaged 70.3 Completion Pct in the Big 12.

When pressured. When pressured.
Colt McCoy never faced pressure? His shoulder didn't injure itself, did it?

I don't know what Colt McCoy's stats were when he was pressured.
My response was to a poster saying Baker Mayfield is not good under pressure. My only point was that Baker Mayfield has good stats when pressured.
Like I have said 2-3 times before, if Baker was 6"3, the only QB discussion would be about who was going after him.
I like his game it's the other things that give me pause, I know he isn't Johnny but I just can't shake that experience, if we take him I hope he turns out to be a good citizen as much as the player I know he can be ...

I don't get the Johnny comparisons except they were short by NFL norms..
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Really Ballpeen, Getting tackled by the cops, grabbing his crotch on national TV, I'm not saying he's even close to Johnny but those things bring back some bad memories. Just Sayin'

Big question is has he grown? I know a few guys who you'd swear we're still in high school! He's got energy and confidence and brashness but I just want to know if he can focus it like a laser on football.
Manziel was a running QB with a drug problem that relied too much on instinct in college and couldn't get that to work in the pros. Mayfield is supposedly the smartest whiteboard QB in the draft, with possibly the best accuracy. Two of the best attributes you look for in a QB. His maturity is questionably, but Manziel he's not.
All that said, I might turn out to have the best Browns source of any reporter! Called this days ago!
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
Ditto, some posters state ALL college guys get drunk, lots get tackled by cops...our GM claims the media has made him bad.....NO his stupid actions have made lots of us question whether to support him as the "Face on the Franchise". How he can be considered number one pick amazes me. Please pick Darnold and let him grow into great QB....GO Browns!!!!

Ok, so your're saying it isn't even close.
I am not happy with the deal with the police, but the other stuff? Heck, I could see myself doing that when I was 22.
You did see how the game started didn't you?
Here, watch this.

But he's not 6-3, is he? So how is it helpful or meaningful to speculate on if he were. He's a relative midget in a league of giants. He's slower than a lot of D-Linemen in the NFL. But somehow, some way, guys here seem to think he's the next Drew Brees or Russell Wilson. Even though I don't equate him with Manziel, I think Mayfield is a lot closer to Johnny than he is Drew or Russell.
