Or what? I've been a fan of this team for over 50 years. I am tired of them screwing up. I'm not getting any younger. I have every right to hold them accountable. Don't like it? Block me.

We have a pretty high power FO so they surely kicked it around alot and saw things they really liked and could live with. We can think differently but I'm up at 4:30 to go to work and they're in bed probably until 10:00am. So...they ain't me. They're football guys.

I think if you give them a chance, you might be happy.


I understand how you feel, as I was freaking out about the potential of selecting Josh Allen.

I'm sick of losing too. But, we didn't draft Josh Allen. We drafted Mayfield, who I like. So, the night was a success for me.


But, I really think this guy will impress you. Just look at his track record. Folks doubt him and he proves them wrong every step of the way. I'm not gonna bet against the guy who's an inch and a half too short, whose shown that otherwise he's a heckuva good football player.

I mean, he just has this Pied Piper Effect on the guys in the locker room. lol

If Mayfield was an inch-and-a-half taller with the exact same college production he would have been the overwhelming, consensus 1st overall pick of the draft.

Exactly. Inch and a half. He's worked hard and proven himself every step of the way to the number 1 pick.

I'm willing to bet that he will work his butt off to prove to all his doubters that the inch and a half is no big deal. And I'm sure that's the number he has in mind. Inch and a half. 6-2.

Emotions can run high when the players they wanted aren't picked.

I went to a baseball function and Tommy Lasorda was the guest speaker.

During the cocktail hour I had the chance to speak with him as he mingled with the crowd.

He told me a cool story. He said there are 3 things every man feels he can do better than any other man.

1. Build a campfire.

2. Make love to a woman.

3. Manage a baseball team.

I suppose that could also apply to picking football players. LOL

dawgs4life, what I found particularly funny about the press conference was the number of times Dorsey said one of the reasons we picked baker was because he is a “winner”. a “winner”. as one of the nfl network commentators pointed out, so was Tebow a “winner”. not comparing the two qbs just pointing out how stupid it is to make that a criteria for selection.

Picking need over talent is always a losing proposition.

What does that have to do with the point made? Are you suggesting Mayock is better at picking talent than a professional?

Mayock has been rumored to be under consideration for multiple GM jobs over the years and he has always turned them down and/or just declined to interview.. he could make 3x the money he makes now but suddenly his drafts wouldn't be "mocks" and he would be held accountable for his picks.. so I can't blame him for staying where he is. But if he was THAT confident in his ability to judge talent, he could already be a very successful GM... which, for a football guy, I think would have to be more rewarding than generating "mock drafts".. but that's just me.

Yeah I agree. Along the same lines, what if you just said "Let's draft the NCAA QB who wins the championship every year!"

Tulsa, I think you miss the point if you focus on mayock. between nfl network and ESPN I saw and least 10-12 guys who rated qbs. I do not remember anyone who picked mayfield as #1 qb. vast majority picked Darnold. casserly said out of 24 teams he contacted 17 would pick Darnold and 3 would pick mayfield. now maybe he was contacting janitors but I doubt it so it has some credibility. the vast majority, overwhelming think Darnold is best qb. nothing Dorsey said in the press conference convinced me that going against the grain like this.

at #4 we ignored the best defensive player in the draft. ward may be the 4th or 5th best defensive player. both would impact our pass defense but we left the best player for Denver. did not take them long to put their card in.

I'm not a fan of picking a small QB in the afc north but whatever. They all seem on board with the pick and Hue seems genuinely happy so time to put up or go home packing. No excuses. They better go all in on the guy after he sits for a year or two.

Tyrod is a shorter guy too but he is proven. Who knows, this is the most offensive talent Tyrod has had to work with IMHO so he might just go and turn the NFL on its head and Manziel might not even make it to the field.

Just wanted to point out I was right about the giants and Barkley We could have taken Barkley at 1 and Mayfield would have been there at 4 easily.

I think you need to go read the first post I replied to and you'll understand why it focuses on Mayock.

Doubt it. Giants might of gone Darnold if Barkley wasn't there and then I'm thinking the Jets might of even gone Mayfield over Darnold even if they had the choice. I really didn't seem him getting past the Jets at #3.

Hard to say on the Jets. I think they go Rosen before Mayfield but you could be right to. I do hate we missed out on having such a great player like Barkley though. Still we all knew Dorsey was never going to take a HB that high anyways since he never has so I wasn't surprised by it. Doesn't mean I agree with it though.

Not for me. The best PASSER was Rosen. THAT is what I want in a QB. All this RPO crap does nothing but get your QB killed. I don't want Keebler to EVER run past the line of scrimmage. If nothing is there then throw the ball away and LIVE to see another play. He's barely 215 pounds, he's not Cam Newton. So let's get him in here, and let's hope he can learn how to play in our offense. I hope he DOES succeed. Believe me, I am NOT getting any younger. I NEED to see a winning team here in Cleveland before I kick. So I am hoping and praying to the football gods that Keebler IS the man and that he WILL win us a championship. Just ONE before I die. To do that he has to survive. Meaning he either has to get a lot bigger or he has to protect himself by not getting blasted. RG3 was looking like a really great young prospect right up until he got hurt... So we need to keep our bright shiny new QB healthy by keeping him in the pocket and teaching him how to play in OUR offense. He tries playing that Run Pass Option crap and he won't be around very long. Another reason I really really hope we take Guice tonight. We NEED to be albe to run the damn football!

I think the Giants would have gone Chubb if Barkley wasn't there. The Giants are always about the D. Plus they just traded JPP so DE is a need. But who knows? If Barkley wasn't there they may have traded down a bit and took a pass rusher there...

I loved Alonzo Highsmith during his and Eliot Wolf's press conference. He basically said, "We don't know if any of these guys are good."

Compared Chubb to Jamal Lewis. Both Highsmith and Wolf came across as extremely confident in the Browns draft selections.

I like them both.

They also ran Andrew Berry out there. I like hearing from the role players of the front office. They are less polished, so they give better answers.

I prefer listening to Highsmith, Wolf, and Berry more than Dorsey. They come across more polished and structured in their responses. Not saying he isn't smart, but Dorsey comes across as a dope to me when he talks.

No doubt that Dorsey isn't going to be Toastmasters International Man of the Year.

If he turns this team into a winner, he'll be Time Magazine's, Man of the Year.

I have seen some ridiculous things. A guy at our Browns Backers bar said he wanted Barkley 1, Chubb 4 and then take Falk as our QB later. WTF? Only Browns fans would think like that.

Darnold was my bet and he was the safer pick. But, Mayfield has the stats to back it up. Is it a risk? Yes. But, they all are. I also wasn't overly surprised when they took him given all the love Dorsey and McCloughan praised him with a couple months back. Plus, we brought in TT who is essentially the same size. Haley may tailor the offense to suit TT...makes sense that we don't have to potentially change it up again with a kid considerably bigger or with different traits.

I am willing to accept all the people in that room including Hue, Haley and Zampese were in agreement w/this pick. If so, they did their due diligence, watched a ton more film, met with the kid, did their white board exercises with him (which Dorsey praised) and came to the consensus that he is the guy. Until proven otherwise I have to support and trust the folks who are paid to do this job rather than NFL "analysts/experts" or fans.

Ahhh but at least he is a football guy.
