Excellent player, but drug issues and inconsistent. Didn't he test positive at the combine for Mary Jane? Yes. So he comes into the league in stage 1 of the drug policy. If he gets in trouble again it’s a 4 game vacation. Unreal. Lost his entire last year on the field then shows up stoned to the job interview. Unreal. I’m a pot smoker but even I know how to play inside the employment system. There’s not millions of dollars on the line for me either. It's not about the use...it's about following the rules. Cfrs15 said it best...lottery pick.

We got the Pats' 4th, (105) and gave them our 4th (114) and our 6th. (178)
Our remaining picks, if I am not mistaken, are the 5th (150) and 2 6ths. (175 and 188)

The birth of a child changes a ton, let's hope he can stick with it. Because I agree if our WR Corp plays all season, this may be the best we've had in long long time

Love this pick. Low risk, high reward. Kid could be a top receiver if he wants to be. Worst case scenario, he gets himself cut for dumb reasons. Best case, he lives up to the talent. I'll take that risk.
I also love the idea of introducing this kid to our locker room. Gordon seems to have found himself, Landry and Taylor bring high-end leadership and professionalism, Mayfield and Chubb have already brought some youthful optimism and excitement.
Perhaps best of all, you can be sure Todd Haley is going to ask Callaway who he wants to be - the guy making "where are they now?" lists after he throws it away, or Haley's next Antonio Brown.
Let's be real here - If one or two players from this round of the draft go on to be anything, it's a pretty good fourth round. The difference between us and the rest of the teams picking is that our guy undeniably has the talent.
It's the fourth round. I got no problems with taking a gamble.

So, a year later we reckon Josh Gordon as a mentor and role model? Wow.
cfrs15 said it best - lottery ticket. either Gordon will mentor this guy or they will both be suspended That is a scary thought. Is this the kind of role player that Hue Jackson was trying to acquire when he signed, (I read he was his guy once here) , signed that guy mid season last year which didn't really plan out but saw a lot of playing time.

The birth of a child changes a ton All you have to do is read The Old Testament and then The New Testament to see that.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

From that article. In an interview with NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Callaway admitted to wrongdoings, including smoking marijuana "several" weeks prior to the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine, but said the birth of his daughter on Feb. 7 has changed everything for him. So he's saying all is right with this world since the birth of his daughter. But yet he tested positive at the scouting combine that was February 27 – March 5, 2018. Three weeks after his daughter was born.

Agreed. Low risk high reward. Without the off field issues this guy is a mid to late 1st rounder. Only cost us a 4th. Good pick.

This guy is in a sink or swim state of life.
He will either figure it out and reach his potential or he will be out of the league.
There have been many of these types to enter the league.
Some rise. Some fall. Gamble pick is ok where he was taken.

His sample was too diluted. Which can happen to anyone getting tested. It happened to my girlfriend before a job, and she doesn’t smoke. Again, not defending him. Just clearing up details.

Best case scenario is that he learns from Gordon's mistakes and applies himself like Gordon seems to be doing. If they both stay clean, we just became scary at WR.

Browns trade up to pick No. 105, select Antonio Callaway | cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ss...ncart_big-photoBEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns started their third day of the draft by trading up to pick No. 105 and drafting Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway. New England previously held the pick, which they acquired from the Bears. The Browns gave up picks No. 114, a fourth-round pick, and No. 178, a sixth-round pick that they acquired on Friday night when they traded down from No. 64. Callaway carries with him a long list of off-field issues. He was suspended for 2016 spring practices for a sexual assault investigation. He was cleared of three charges by a Title IX hearing officer. He also pleaded no contest to possession of drug paraphernalia in July of 2017 and suspended for the 2017 season for using stolen credit card information to make bookstore purchases. Callaway also failed his drug test at the NFL combine. He told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport "he smoked weeks before but vowed, 'I take full responsibility for everything.'" Callaway, who played at the same high school as Browns' third-round pick Chad Thomas, became the first player in University of Florida history and the 21st FBS player since 1996 to score a rushing, receiving, passing, punt return and kickoff return touchdown in his career. One footnote on this trade: By giving up pick No. 178, this means the Browns have now made all the picks acquired via the trade down from No. 2 in 2016 that netted the Eagles Carson Wentz.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Like I said I wasn’t defending him. As to the comment about ‘his wife getting ready to pop and him lighting up’... meh. I’m sure many expecting baby daddies enjoy beers in the days leading up to the birth of their child. Is that an issue? I don’t see it as one, anymore than burning some tree. Now the fact that he’s an NFL prospect heading into the combine and burning tree. That’s a much bigger concern to me.

All joking aside, this could help Gordon. In the 25+ years I've been C&S, I've met many people who credit their continued sobriety to being a sponsor (mentoring someone newly sober or with less sobriety.) Helping another learn how to live sober can be just what Gordon needs.
edited to add; I'm not saying this will happen, but it could.

Not you per se, but in general.
I don't know why the consenesous on this board always doesn't like our Best GM's.
Personally I find it very hard to hate a GM, but I do for a little bit, (I'm even over my hatred of the Chubb pick) Dorsey is becoming one of our Best GM's I really liked Heckert, too and somebody way back when Romeo was coach.
Farmer was a little less than average but I liked him, not really but I didn't hate what he was doing.
Sometimes I think the only way to make this board members happy is for
99% of all player aquistions need to be edge rushers. and the other 1 %
that 1% needs to be split between edge rushers edge rushers and anything else.
So the Team drafts front 7 edge rushers for 4 and 1/2 years and the 1/2 year they actually focus on offense,
even though the team loses every fall while the offense is on the field,
the 1/2 year the draft is actually focused on offense, the consensous of the board is something like "these guys are nuts".
Defense wins championships? Only after the offense gets you there.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I guess there were also allegations of a sexual assault and an incident involving using a stolen credit card. Smoking up really only gets him in trouble with the League, but those things are serious, if true.

Baker might have to give Callaway the DeDe Westbrook treatment (from Moving the Sticks Podcast-Baker Mayfield 360). Pick him up for work and take him home afterward, stay on him all the time.
