Bad Tomlin showed up today. He gave up 6 runs in 6 innings and his ERA dropped to 9.16. He gave up two more bombs today - that's 10 in 18 innings, according to Tom Hamilton. I don't think they can keep running him out there. We need a #5 starter, whether from the farm system or a trade. Indians dropped 3 of 4 to the Mariners this weekend.

Tomlin isn’t a starting pitcher at this level, they have to stop giving every 5th game away

I'm all for Danny replacing Tomlin when he comes back. Should be soon, right?

Trevor just threw a really nice pitch.

Wow I can't believe Lindor missed that bad pitch, looked like it would've drilled right into his shoulder. Whew. And Davis with a excellent jump on the steal.

Like the June swoon arrived early. I agree we need another regular. Glad he lowered his ERA so much! We cannot give up games regularly all season. Just tough luck? After awhile, no.

Wahoo! Come on, Tribe!

Some highlight notes of the Tribe’s first month.

I think the pitching staff is pretty close to what we expected. Pretty good.

No one would have believed Yonder Alonso would hit 8 homers for the month.

Every Tribe fan would have been thrilled to hear Brantley would have 70 ABs and hitting .343. So far fantastic.

Jose Ramirez is heating-up and finished April with 7 homers. And has more extra base hits than strikeouts.

And no Tribe fan would have been disappointed with the Tribe taking a 4 game lead into May.

Oh nice one by Alonzo... great play to close out the inning as Clevinger was getting into a little trouble there.

I tore my sack watching that dude stretch on that play. But good review, looks like he's clearly safe. That stretch of the first base though, ouchhhhhhhhhhhh!

Traditional double-header tomorrow, starting at 1PM. Reminds me of my youth, back when parents thought it was safe for a 12-13 year old to pick up the 23 bus at West 73rd & Dearborn and ride it to Public Square, walk down to Muny, and buy a $1.00 bleacher ticket. I would have a bag "lunch" that Mom made, a book I was reading, and a dollar or two to buy a Coke and a Program. I used to keep score at games, loving the thought that I could look at it years later and remember it as it happened. So much has changed. I'm glad I grew up when I did instead of now.

Me too. Yep, right about 8th grade.

I would take the Rapid Transit down Clifton Blvd. (from about Warren Road - West 150th street, Lakewood)

That would have been ~ 1969.

The stadium would look empty with only ~5,000 fans in attendance at the cavernous Municipal Stadium.

The difference vs. today:

I don't think it's any more dangerous. I think it's that 13-year-olds aren't as "worldly" as in 1969. (not that we were worldly, we just spent more time outside in the real world. for instance, interacting with strangers more)

BTW,

Some feller named Adam Plutko starts game #2 today for Cleveland.

A review of Plutko's career stats reveals that he's been mediocre - at best - in the minors.

Until this year.

He's been on fire down in Columbus.

13 year old kids haven't changed, parents changed. For better or worse, we have worked to make them afraid of everything and don't let them go anywhere unsupervised...

I like Plutko, and think that he has a real future with the Tribe as a starter.

Maybe that future starts today? laugh

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Golly.

If yesterday was a typical 2018 game for the rookie Plutko, it's gonna be a fun year.

I may have to splurge early and spend the 2018 annual $89.99 fee to get MLB.com.

(In the past I've waited until Father's Day when MLB.com has a "remainder of the season" for ~ $50)
