Not turning the ball over 38 times is a huge upgrade.
Kizer had 22 INT's and 9 fumbles. Hogan had 5 Int's and 1 fumble Even Kessler had an INT
Tyrod Taylors CAREER high in INT is 6. His career high in fumbles is 9 and he's only had 4 in each of the last 2 seasons.
That's 23 more possessions not ending in sudden change.
2 seasons ago we had Josh McCown...so maybe a major upgrade regarding last year and a minor upgrade regarding 2 seasons ago. 2-3 wins more due to the talent upgrade... The major change, IMHO, is Haley

That's because the QB whisperer thought he had better options. 2 Seasons ago we thought Josh was a solid veteran, more or less what we think of TT now. IMHO,its all up to Haley. With Hue has an OC, I would be sure that our limit would be 2 wins at best.

I don’t care about 2 years ago ... TT is replacing DK not JM .. And Haley is replacing Hue....IMHO it would be better to have Kizer and Haley than TT and Hue.. Fortunately we have TT and Haley :-) Talent wise, I think you are only fooling yourself if you think that we are that much better. The addition of TT and Landrey is not what is going to turn our O around.

TT is a HUGE upgrade for us based on Kizer play last year ...
Landry, Josh, Janis, Coleman (3rd year CC) vs Britt, Coleman (2nd year CC) , Louis, Higgins, BUM ... to start the year ...
Are u kidding me ... we’ve went from one of the worst WR rooms in the league to one that has a one/two punch that is more than likely top 5 in the league ...
Njoku and Seth are both a year older ... dont think thats not significant, especially with njoku ..
Crow vs Hyde/Chubb ... another BIG UPGRADE ...
This is a NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE ... this isn’t even close talent wise ...
Take it easy dawg ... ive said about all i care to on this subject ....

Bingo! And I would add that our talent is significantly upgraded providing that we can adequately replace LT...

GO BROWNS!!!!!! Britt was also thought to be a good pick... so until we see Landry play we should reserve judgment. Gordon is a very special player, can be there with the best but also can be the most lazy desperating player. You should know that. 50/50 chance at best. Colemon is average at best and needs lots of time for the play to develop and be a real threat. Njoku has potential, and has been developing much better than I thought. Seth is a good player, but made his own grave when we threw is QB under the bus last year, he is not that good.... Saying we have a good WR core means that you probably don't see many games from other teams. Regarding TT being an huge upgrade over Kizer, well I also think he is, the problem is that we still have the same idiot that started him all season.... Not saying we haven't upgraded, but its not that of a major upgrade to justify being optimist,IMHO, unless its because Hue isn't calling plays anymore....

I can't think of another team I'd trade our WRs with ON PAPER. Just off the top of my head Pittsburgh for one, and there are probably at least 10 other teams just this year alone. Antonio Brown is great but been in the league a long time. Who else do they have that compares to our WRs I listed earlier? Remember the discussion was on paper before the season starts. In actual play, yeah, probably any number of teams will do better than us, because we are the Browns, but in terms of raw talent, I'd say we're top 5. If you account for age, maybe #1.

I think the Browns offense can be in the top 15-20 this year. I know that’s damning with faint praise, but it’s an honest assessment.

Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst, which is something we never do.... The seasons depends if the Gordon that shows up is the 2013 elite player, or the 2014 Bum that lost us the season and the QB... from last season I'm not convinced...

I think addition of Haley is huge and the net improvements to personnel are gonna really help the offense improve.
The OL, even with JT for most of the season was solid and has been upgraded from the unit where Drango started a bunch of games at LT.
Tyrod alone helps out the run game with the rushing yards he brings on his own and he helps the RBs have more space by limiting backside contain/pursuit.
Whether or not Gordon is available for the whole year and Coleman has a rebound will go a long way to determine how productive the passing game will be...but simply having Jarvis Landry is a huge upgrade from last year. And Antonio Calloway is a better prospect then either Ricardo Louis and Rashard Higgins combined. Seth and Njoku had a solid campaign last year and should take another step forward.
Anyhow here are my thoughts/numbers.....

Gordon has really a raw talent to be suspended by stupid stuff... Some would say it's quite polished. I don't think you have to worry about Landry. He and Britt are night and day. Particularly when it comes to work ethic, attitude, and drive. Not to mention outright ability. IMO, he's one of the best FA signings in a while.

I'd say 15-20 is a stretch, if they hit 20 and decrease the turnovers it's going to result in at minimum 4 - 6 wins. We gave a game away to Pittsburgh week 1 with turnovers. Same for week 3 at Indy, Same against the Jets, same against the titans, same against the packers. That's 5 losses directly tied to turnovers. Getting better by a year and a draft class and decreasing the insane amount of TO's could result in a much better result.

The offense as a whole is much improved.
We should be able to move into the middle of the pack of offensive numbers.
They still have to be able blend. Meaning this is a new group. Much will depend on how they implement and execute Haley's offense.
There are enough pieces on offense to be at least average or above.
Chubb could play a big role.
Tyrod has won. He doesn't turn it over. Just those facts alone should make a big difference.
Wins create winning attitudes. It will be interesting to see if we can string some wins together.
At least they should be watchable.

I expect to see a "real" professional offense, with a heavy dose of running. The potency will depend on TT. Statistically he doesn't do well on third downs. Plays that start inside the twenty. Plays in the red zone. And so on, IIRC. He doesn't put up big passing numbers either, and he holds onto the ball too long. But he can make plays, works hard, and protects the ball. It's going to be up to Hailey to work up a system that allows him to get it in the hands of the playmakers, whether that's the RBs, WRs, or TEs. The good news is, those weapons are there. That should greatly help TTs game. But if it's not happening, and Baker is making plays, I imagine a short leash. I am excited to watch.

and I have a feeling that James Washington will be another good WR draft pick
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

All of those players are good in practice. With an established team, head coach and hall of fame QB. I'm saying TALENT ON PAPER, I'd rather have our guys. Give me Roethlisberger, a good head coach and consistency in FO/Ownership and we'd have just as much offensive success as them if not more. Could be wrong, no way to prove it either way really.

NFL Network has our power ranking at 31. So I have my doubts.... They don't speculate much...they go off of last year mostly they might make a minimal consideration here or there.
For the STAT GUYS on this board and there are many. I was pretty surprised to see we were the 16th ranked team in the NFL in Plays per game...I'm not sure if that includes Kick-off returns. But that means to me going by stats that is. That we moved the chains or had a lot of 3 n outs from our Defense. We just probably was one of the worst in the Red Zone.
I would like to see us take control of more games by finishing and continue to improve on our Offensive plays per game. More plays more touches by all our impact players!

I agree with this. When I ranked us as "teens worthy", I expect TT to use the field deeper and better, and Haley "finds" Landry and Gordon and YAC, Hyde moves chains, and Chubb's adds are gravy. If D gets stops, we get more plays, and takeaways help us a bunch stats and games.
My point was that I think we were better than record last year, but masked by miserable playmaking. Maybe credit is given beyond credit due. I think middle numbers are reasonable.

I expect this offense to be successful, relative to previous Browns' offenses. And I wouldn't be shocked if we surprised people in the win column.
1. We have a better QB than what we've seen in a handful of years. I think we overpaid for Tyrod but he'll limit the turnovers. I don't expect him to transform this offense but as long as he is the starter we should have the chance to beat below average teams and maybe make a few surprises if we get a "+" in the turnover game. It'll be interesting to see how long he sticks as the starter.
2. Hue isn't calling the plays. This is not to say that Hue is a bad play caller. But I think it is apparent, at least to me, that Hue doesn't adjust to what he has. He has an approach and players have to conform to it, rather than the other way around. I think there were many questionable decisions made over the past two years, and although people want to look at the final score and say "we were down, so of course we didn't run", I don't think this was the case, often times. I think Haley will bring a more balanced approach. I would have enjoyed this combo of Hue and Haley while working with Kizer.
3. The offensive young guys gained an additional year. I'm very high on Duke Johnson, David Njoku, and even Seth DeValve to a lesser extent. TE normally takes time to become acclimated to the NFL relative to other positions...wide receivers too. I think we'll be able to put Duke just about anywhere on the field. I think we're undervaluing C.Coleman but I get the injury concerns.
4. Hyde can keep others honest. It might just be a one-year deal, but if we finally have a balanced run/pass approach on a macro level, having Hyde, and even Chubb, teams should have to assume we will want to pound the football.
5. On Paper. Well, "on paper" we have Josh Gordon lining up outside, and Jarvis Landry lining up in the slot. This will force teams to game plan against those players and possibly open up opportunities for other players.

I am hopeful (and I think that the team is also)that Jarvis can play outside opposite Gordon. If he can, that opens up a lot of options with the receivers.
Also, I think that Duke stands a much better chance of filling that slot role more often, since we have both Hyde and Chubb in the backfield. I think that Duke will move all over the field as both a runner and receiver.

Landry inside. Could he line up outside at times? Sure, I guess so. Landry is a slot WR. He has always been a slot. Is there something different where you think that role may change?

I think an argument could be made, based on your comment about using Duke Johnson inside as a slot... why would you need to trade for, and pay significant guaranteed money for, Jarvis Landry when someone else can essentially be plugged into the same role, when necessary.
Edit: I'm not saying Duke Johnson is a better WR than Jarvis Landry. I'm saying draft picks and guaranteed money will always be a factor.

Browns could be dangerous at wide receiver ... with one big 'if' - Cleveland Browns Blog- ESPN http://www.espn.com/blog/cleveland-brown...with-one-big-ifThe Browns figure to expand Landry’s role and start him opposite Josh Gordon. That’s a tandem that can scare defenses -- provided Gordon stays on the field. Now this is just opinion, but Pat Mas has been well plugged into the Browns organization for a long, long time. There have also been other articles saying that the Browns plan to expand Landry's role beyond the slot. I think that he starts opposite Gordon. I think that he'll play in and out in 3 and 4 WR packages. It should be interesting to see what all they do with him. Oh, and I would not count on Coleman even making the team. I would probably put him at maybe 55-60% to do so, but that's no slam dunk.

On O Assuming there are not drug issues the WR corp looks very good. The backs look Very good. The line has questions, put possible solutions. QB looks better.
On D All positions look solid to very good.
But the team is still young, needs to learn how to win, then how to win consistently. We won't be contenders this year or next, but if all goes exceptionally well, after that we could be.
