All of the above seem too easy. I'll go out on a limb and say Shon Coleman but I think it will be on the right side and not the left.

Agreed. I thought we were going with 2nd or 3rd year players with the team ready for a breakout season.

Myles Garrett seemed too easy. I was thinking players more along the lines of Peppers, Kindred, Nassib, Ogbah, Devalve, Njoku, Coleman, and so on.

I agree ... Stepping forward implies that they have walked/played before.

Who's the next Joe ...?

They all need to step up, the whole group has to work together.

It seems so rare for the Browns to have 3 year returning players, but most NFL teams already do and moreso.

Either way I'm bullish on about 4 players for some reason.

Seth DeValve, Imagine that, me who said he doesn't belong in the league thinks he finaly showed development last year, may take a step this year.

Joel Bitonio, also I don't know why because I don't see what others like about him, think he is more finesse than brute, but I think he's on the upswing for some reason.

Jamie Collins, another one I didn't like but, why not, for some reason, maybe it's because he's had enough time to get settled in.

Nate Orchard, I've liked him from the start, He really gets bad mouthed here on Dawgtalkers but this guy is a force, if they can just get him in the right position, I'm bullish on his big play ability.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

He was 8 out of 9 after the bye week last year. That's pretty automatic.

I think whoever comes out of the group to start at CB could be in for a good year. We added a ton of competition at the position. I want to say Howard Wilson, but he might still be a year away depending on the knee.

Hopefully a healthy Myles with the secondary additions will synergize nicely for our pass defense.

A good number of good NFL kickers took a while to find their groove.

A good number of good kickers never found their groove and aren't kicking anymore.

I liked the pick as well, and he seemed to settle in as the season wound down.

I can see how kicking could be so hard mentally. You are only given a few opportunities (maybe) per game, and your margin of error is very small.

Dawgs4Life mentioned him and I'll repeat it....I'm very interested to watch Randall play as he is apparently moving from CB to FS, his college position. He was quoted recently about watching tape and how he (paraphrasing) didn't like focusing on one player but liked watching the whole field develop, and is excited to go back to his main position.

I thought the only reason he was playing corner, was because he was their only option.

3- Shon Coleman

Myles Garrett in even better shape, ready to make more of an impact in Year 2

Garrett, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, had seven sacks in 11 games last season

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Myles Garrett is as chiseled as football players come, and yet the Browns’ second-year defensive end spent the offseason working to get in better shape.

Garrett, the No. 1 overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft, was his own biggest critic at the end of a rookie season slowed by nagging injuries (though he still managed to lead the team with seven sacks in 11 games).

So over the past few months, Garrett made it a point to eat right, gain muscle and trim excess body fat before coming back to Cleveland for offseason workouts. Time off, of course, also gave him a chance to rest and recover from a high-ankle sprain that sidelined him for the first month of the season.

“I was mostly working on myself and my diet to try and stay in shape,” Garrett said Monday at the Cleveland Browns Foundation golf tournament. “I was just trying to make sure I came back stronger and healthier than before.”

It’s why the former Texas A&M star edge rusher is brimming with confidence entering a 2018 season in which he’ll be expected to contribute in a major way. Being injury-free, he added, is a major boost, too.

“Just being healthy this year, it’s really about my confidence being able to be more mobile and not have anything hold me back,” he said. “It’s helped me, not only bring me confidence but bring my teammates confidence knowing that I’ll always be out there, always working and there's not going to be any hindrances this year of what we can achieve.”

To be sure, Garrett flashed the talent that made him the first overall pick last year. He wants to do that on a more consistent basis, knowing it’s key for him to emerge as an impact player on a Browns team looking to rebound from a winless season.

Earlier this offseason, Browns coach Hue Jackson heaped praise on Garrett as a cornerstone for the future. “I think (he) is on the cusp of really turning into a really, really good football player in this league,” he said.

Garrett believes he’s ready to make that jump.

“You learn the pace of the game, you learn the physicality of it,” he said of his rookie year. “Once you go back and you study a little bit, revamp of what you saw last year, you can make a big impact.”

I had high hopes for Garrett when we drafted him. I'm really hoping he makes the jump from being pretty good to dominant. I think he has the ability and mindset to be talked about in the same breath as Miller and Mack as the best edge rushers in the league.

I agree with all of that. I was kind of surprised when one of the analysts said that Chubb would go ahead of Garrett, if they had been in the same draft. I don't see that at all. I think that Garrett is a once in a decade type.
He has said that he has revised his diet and his exercise regime. I can't wait to see him start destroying opposing QBs this fall. wink

I hope he also made it as much of a point to work on flexibility and mobility, because that is where injury prevention happens.

Totally agree. Whatever Joe Thomas would do in the offseason with the yoga and what not.

That's what he should be doing.

I think Garrett and Hyde are going to have a monster year. Chubb is going to push Hyde for the starting job. Landry should have a good year and Peppers should be better.

Jarvis Landry. He is the professional WR this team has not had since Joe Jurevicius. Good hands, good route runner, and better athlete than he is given credit for. I think Todd Haley plans to use Landry as the Browns Antonio Brown. With Gordon and he talent on the other side Landry will be seeing teams other CB's all season long and will put up big numbers.
