Winslow was burglarizing a mobile home?

Geez, at least burglarize an apartment. Or even a car.

Maybe there's a lot more to the story. But if there was extenuating circumstances I don't think the cops would be holding him.

I doubt he is being held, I am sure he bailed out fairly quickly.

I think this story should get interesting . He was probably looking for someone or something . It wasnt a random break in, I dont think

What a waste.

Here is this guy born into NFL royalty.

Born with unreal talent and a golden spoon to start life.

He makes a ton of money and here he is breaking into a mobile home?

He is another in a long list of guys we took and didn't reach their potential because their heads were not in the right place.

That's how you fail to build a team. Have no understanding of person's true character.

Really odd story. Makes me think it might be drug related.

Good grief, what a botch job that draft was. We could have been watching Roethlisberger at QB since 2004, but instead Butch had to feed his Hurricane fetish. AI YI YI!! [smacks forehead]

I won't rag on Winslow. KW played hard on the field, and overcame that motorcycle crash and the staph. Even in hindsight I understand the pick.
We had just signed Garcia and he would have been a great weapon had 2004 not fallen apart.

Ahhh, the memories......

That's what's unusual. It's hard to imagine a millionaire former NFL player being in a trailer park.

Even a "really nice" one.

Hey, don't get me wrong. A trailer park would be a step-up for me.

Nah..I'd still take my apartment. Nice deck, no bugs, decent neighbors.

one of the worst draft picks since the return when you consider who they passed up.
not to mention a very selfish me 1st player who was a locker room cancer.
over rated player who was already being christened a HOF by fans at Hsrpos whhen they drafted him

New development in Kellen Winslow arrest casts serious doubt on charges

https://brownswire.usatoday.com/2018/06/...ubt-on-charges/

Following up on a story from yesterday, the arrest of former Browns first-round pick Kellen Winslow has taken a different turn. Per NBC News, Winslow was simply house-hunting for a place for his mother-in-law to live and did not break into or burglarize any home.

Winslow was arrested in Encinitas, California on suspicion of breaking into a mobile home on Friday. He spent five hours in the local jail.

A spokesperson from the agency which represents Winslow, who has been retired from the NFL since 2013, stated,

“The owner said he never went inside the home or took anything, or nor was anything taken, touched or moved.”

From the NBC report:

A person called the sheriff’s office at around 2:39 p.m. local time and reported a possible residential burglary and “the reporting party indicated a black male adult had walked into a neighbor’s residence,” and that person confronted the man because they “did not recognize him as being the resident who lived there,” according to the sheriff’s department.

If validated, it seems Winslow will be vindicated and any pending charges dropped.

A mobile home in Encinitas, California can run over $400,000.

Truly bizarre. Why would he do this? Why would he not do it better? A mobile home is hardly like a Brinks truck or vault.

Every season has its reason. I can't imagine this one at all.

As an aside:

I was at the 2007 game in Arizona where he leapt and made the catch (and it was a catch in bounds according to reception rules then) from Anderson for the win in the last second.

Would've put us in the playoffs most likely.

This was, of course, leading up to Anderson's impending meltdown against Cinci which sealed our fate.

What was the name of the rule that would have had this be a catch had the refs decided to enforce it? The Force Out Rule or something like that? The league removed the rule from the books after that season.

Yes. It was something like that (Force Out rule) - though I'm a bit too lazy to research the actual description.

He jumped, caught the ball, had it secured, would have landed with both feet in bounds but a couple guys shoved him well out of bounds while he was in the air.

Poof: no playoffs. Meltdown in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh wins the 10-6 tiebreaker.

On paper, that Browns offense might have been our most talented since the return.

KELLEN WINSLOW JR. ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING AND RAPE ... Faces Life In Prison

4:10 PM PT -- Officials say Winslow is being charged with 9 criminal charges including kidnapping with intent to commit rape, forcible rape, forcible sodomy, burglary, indecent exposure and more.
Here are the charges in total:

-- 2 counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape
-- 2 counts of forcible rape
-- 1 count of forcible sodomy
-- 1 count of forcible oral copulation
-- 2 counts of residential burglary
-- 1 count of indecent exposure.

If convicted on all charges, he faces LIFE in prison.

Officials tell TMZ Sports ... Winslow was arrested by the Sheriff's Major Crimes Division at 1:05 PM on Thursday.
He's being booked into custody at the Vista Detention Facility -- a county jail in San Diego. Officials say a search warrant has been executed for Kellen's home.

Ex-NFL star Kellen Winslow Jr. was arrested in San Diego -- again ... this according to the San Diego County District Attorney. Details surrounding the arrest are unclear but law enforcement sources tell us Winslow is facing multiple criminal charges.

We don't know if this has anything to do with his arrest last week when he was accused of breaking into a home in a mobile home park in the San Diego area. For that incident, he was arrested for felony burglary.

But moments ago, the San Diego D.A. told TMZ Sports ... "A warrant was issued this morning for Kellen Winslow II’s arrest and he was taken into custody by San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies Thursday afternoon."

"Arraignment is anticipated Friday, June 15 ... Charges will be announced at that time."
We've reached out to Kellen's camp for comment -- so far, no word back.
34-year-old Winslow played in the NFL from 2004 to 2013 -- and made the Pro Bowl in 2007 as a tight end for the Cleveland Browns.
