Couple tidbits in here; a) His lawyers will not represent Cohen going forward. b) There were about 3.7 million documents seized. c) Of the first 300,000 documents reviewed by the special master, only 162 of them were covered by "attorney-client" privilege https://www.yahoo.com/gma/former-trump-l...topstories.htmlGEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS,Good Morning America Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen likely to cooperate as his attorneys leave case, sources say As attorneys for Michael Cohen rush to meet Judge Kimba Wood’s Friday deadline to complete a privilege review of over 3.7 million documents seized in the April 9 raids of Cohen’s New York properties and law office, a source representing this matter has disclosed to ABC News that the law firm handling the case for Cohen is not expected to represent him going forward. To date, Cohen has been represented by Stephen Ryan and Todd Harrison of the Washington and New York firm, McDermott, Will & Emery LLP. No replacement counsel has been identified as of this time. (MORE: Trump lawyer facing 'epic battle' by prosecutors for his cooperation: Dershowitz) (MORE: Investigators were tracking Cohen's phone calls before FBI raid) (MORE: Trump campaign has paid portions of Cohen's legal fees: Sources) Cohen, now with no legal representation, is likely to cooperate with federal prosecutors in New York, sources said. This development, which is believed to be imminent, will likely hit the White House, family members, staffers and counsels hard. After the federal raids on Cohen’s properties, President Trump lashed out in a tweet, writing, “Attorney-client privilege is dead!” PHOTO: President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen, right, leaves Federal Court, in New York, May 30, 2018, followed by members of his legal team, from left, Joseph Evans and Stephen Ryan. (Richard Drew/AP) He told reporters at the White House that the move against his longtime personal attorney, which he likened to a break-in, was a “disgraceful situation.” “It’s an attack on our country in a true sense. It’s an attack on all we stand for,” the president said during a meeting with senior military leadership at the White House. “That is really now on a whole new level of unfairness.” Cohen then went to federal court in Manhattan arguing that his attorneys should be given a first look at the materials seized in the raids for items potentially covered by attorney-client privilege before federal prosecutors could examine the haul. PHOTO: Michael Cohen's attorneys Joseph Evans and Todd Harrison leave the Manhattan Federal Court in New York, April 13, 2018. (Jeenah Moon/Reuters, FILE) Judge Wood subsequently appointed former federal judge Barbara Jones to act as a “special master” to conduct an impartial review of the materials and to referee any disputes between Cohen and the government. Trump and the Trump Organization intervened in the case and were also granted access to review the materials for potentially privileged items. Jones reported last week that of the first 300,000 items reviewed, she had determined that just 162 of them were covered by attorney-client privilege. She rejected three items that Cohen, Trump or the Trump organization had designated as privileged. Judge Wood has given Cohen’s attorneys until Friday to complete the review of the remaining documents. Any remaining items to be reviewed would be turned over to a team of federal prosecutors unconnected to the case to complete the examination of the documents. ABC News' James Hill contributed to this report.

Sounds like a bunch of Maybe's. Maybe Cohen will turn. Maybe it is trouble for Trump. Maybe Cohen won't have lawyers after this. I will wait for facts. The only thing missing from this thread is OCD yelling, "We GOT HIM!"

I really don't believe this means much. I've never seen a time when a wealthy person couldn't find an attorney to hire. He'll simply hire a new team of lawyers.
If anything, hiring new attorneys will only permit his new legal team to ask for more time to properly prepare for the case since they haven't seen it. It will only lengthen the process and drag it out longer.

That and it doesn't make sense for Cohen NOT to retain legal counsel even if he does end up "working with" Mueller.. whatever that actually ends up meaning. If Mueller is promising to defer prosecution against Cohen, he'd still want an attorney to make sure he doesn't get screwed.

Isn’t that what all the articles on this are implying, though?
Cohen might need a new legal team for a new strategy, maybe the one that involves cooperation, seeing as we know that lawyers love cutting bait on cases they know they can’t win.

Same thing with Manafort.

(MORE: Trump campaign has paid portions of Cohen's legal fees: Sources) Question, is it legal or against Campaign Finance laws to use that money to defend your attorney? Is Attorney-Client Privilege absolute? I only ask because if it is, how did they not throw out all documents related to clients? Just wondering I expect Trump to throw a temper tantrum any moment now.

Is Attorney-Client Privilege absolute? I only ask because if it is, how did they not throw out all documents related to clients? Just wondering I expect Trump to throw a temper tantrum any moment now. They would throw out the documents IF the following is true: General requirements under United States law[edit] Although there are minor variations, the elements necessary to establish the attorney client privilege generally are: 1.The asserted holder of the privilege is (or sought to become) a client; and 2.The person to whom the communication was made: 1.is a member of the bar of a court, or a subordinate of such a member, and 2.in connection with this communication, is acting as an attorney; and 3.The communication was for the purpose of securing legal advice.[4] There are a number of exceptions to the privilege in most jurisdictions, chief among them: 1.the communication was made in the presence of individuals who were neither attorney nor client, or was disclosed to such individuals, 2.the communication was made for the purpose of committing a crime or tort, 3.the client has waived the privilege (for example by publicly disclosing the communication).

Judge rules Trump, Cohen objections to attorney-client privilege designations 'should be filed publicly'
TheHill.com
 A federal judge ruled Friday lawyers for Michael Cohen must publicly file any challenge they make against a special master's decision to declare as not privileged most of the materials seized by FBI agents during raids of his home and office.
In a brief decision Friday afternoon, U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood denied requests from attorneys for President Trump and Cohen a day earlier that would have kept information on the challenges under seal.
Contents of the files mentioned in the challenges would be redacted, according to Wood.
"The court agrees with the Government that Plaintiff and the Intervenors' objections should be filed publicly, except for those portions that divulge 'the substance of the contested documents,' " Wood wrote.
The judge's decision followed a request from eight news organizations and a press advocacy group to keep the filings public, according to Courthouse News.
"Now that President Trump and Mr. Cohen are challenging whether certain of these documents may be turned over to government investigators, the public has a right to know what they assert are the bounds of the attorney-client privilege," First Amendment attorney Rachel Strom wrote in court filings.
Just 162 of the items seized by FBI agents earlier this year in a no-knock raid of Cohen's home, offices, and safety deposit boxes were declared protected by attorney-client privilege by a special master appointed by the court to review the documents. Trump and Cohen's attorneys have indicated they will challenge this decision, but have not said how many of the documents they believe to be privileged.
Cohen is under investigation for bank fraud and possible campaign finance violations. He has denied any wrongdoing.

LOL... if he didn't break any laws then he wouldn't be in this trouble and need to hire a special team of criminal layers that cost 100k a week.

Cohen might need a new legal team for a new strategy, maybe the one that involves cooperation, seeing as we know that lawyers love cutting bait on cases they know they can’t win. It may be "implying that" but that's only some interjection from a "journalist" that's playing to an audience that wants to hear that. There are different types of attorneys for different things that practice in different courts. The attorneys he had did the work of going through the files and trying to keep as much evidence from going to court as possible. That's a far different thing than what a trial lawyer does. Plus, if you want a trial lawyer, you would be much better served to find a well qualified one that practices in the jurisdiction the trial is being held in. Someone familiar with the judge, the prosecutor and so on. The RNC and the Trump campaign are paying a portion of his attorney fees so it's not like he'll have a problem with the bill. Trump campaign has paid portions of Michael Cohen's legal fees: Sources https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trump-ca...ory?id=54831269

CNN) — President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen has indicated to family and friends he is willing to cooperate with federal investigators to alleviate the pressure on himself and his family, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Cohen has expressed anger with the treatment he has gotten from the President, who has minimized his relationship with Cohen, and comments from the President's lawyer Rudy Giuliani, the source said. The treatment has left him feeling isolated and more open to cooperating, the source said.
Asked by reporters Friday if he was worried about Cohen cooperating, Trump said, "I did nothing wrong, nothing wrong." He also said he hasn't spoken with Cohen "in a long time," adding, "I always liked Michael and he's a good person."
CBS News reported Thursday that Cohen believes Trump and his allies are turning against him.
Cohen is under criminal investigation by the US attorney's office in Manhattan for his personal financial dealings, including the payment he made to porn star Stormy Daniels on Trump's behalf before the election.
Pressure on Cohen has been building since an April FBI raid on his home, office and hotel room when agents seized over a dozen electronic devices and multiple boxes of documents.
It isn't known which particular remarks by the President or his allies have irked Cohen -- or if it is the totality of them -- but tensions have grown since the FBI raid.
Cohen has not met with prosecutors to discuss any potential deal. He is currently seeking new lawyers with the goal to find a legal team with experience appearing before judges in the Southern District of New York and working with the US attorney's office in Manhattan, CNN reported earlier this week. If Cohen does cooperate with investigators, it isn't clear what specific information he would provide. But the President's longtime "fixer" has worked inside the Trump Organization for a decade and was involved with, among other things, discussions to brand a Trump Tower in Moscow.
The switch in legal team comes as Cohen's lawyers have until today to finish reviewing 3.7 million files seized in the FBI raid for attorney-client privilege. A person familiar with the review process said Cohen's lawyer will meet the deadline. Cohen's attorney, reached on Thursday night, declined to comment.

Cohen wants to cooperate... Tick Tock. Meanwhile Trump and Ghouliani furiously work the American idiots, spreading misinformation and lies to discredit the DOJ and Mueller's investigation. They are banking that this will come down to the court of public opinion... I have a feeling it will be a different court.

I'm pretty sure you are right, that it's easy to hire new attorneys. But the cost of his former legal team was approaching $500,000 a week. Cohen doesn't really have enough money to cover that for very long...
