Religion is the reason I can't buy wine on a Sunday for crying out loud! Hold on. back your ass up, and please explain this one. As a Christian who likes to drink just as much as anybody else on this board you need to explain this one. Just how in the Hell is religion the reason you can't buy booze on Sunday???? A lot of your Sunday restrictions on alcohol sales are based originally on religious societal norms. I guess 442 doesn't live in a progressive enough State? He should run down the street proclaiming 'God is Dead.'

The part where he explains that religious people are being forced not to express their beliefs in public. I am not talking about school either, as I am a firm believer in church and state. However, look at the backlash guys like tebow received etc. IDK about being persecuted, however the part about shoving them in the closet certainly makes sense. I have seen it in my time. I am not religious one bit, I would classify myself as agnostic. I have said before I was atheist, however honestly - I don't know. I have no proof either way. Mostly I just do not like organized religion. But I agree with a lot of what he said minus some of the scripture I think saying Christians are forced not to express their beliefs in public is hogwash. We don't care if they do or don't. Any time this comes up, it's media driven. "Oh, now those atheists are forcing us to call it a Holiday tree!!!" or "Now those atheists are making us say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas!" Or, "Now those atheists are banning the bible from schools!" It's all Fox news BS that does nothing more than spread that divide. I'm atheist, and when someone says Merry Christmas to me, I smile and say it right back! When I sneeze and someone says "God bless you!" I smile and say thank you. I don't care. It's the gesture they're offering and it's nice. Doesn't bother me. And only the most radical, idiot of a liberal would get upset about something like that. As for Tebow, come on man. The media would shine a spotlight on him every time he took a knee for prayer. And we all got tired of seeing it because he was a terrible football player. For me personally, it was "Why are they shining a spotlight on this guy? He sucks." It wasn't that he was praying that I disliked him, it's that he got so much attention for being a bad football player. If anything at all, I thought he was a good role model for kids and never took that away from him. This is all my point of view of course. It just bothers me when Christians claim they're being silenced or that their religious rights are being trampled on. I just don't see it and I think it's made up so they can feel all woe is me. Especially when it's coming from white male Christians. I mean seriously, you're white, you're male, and you're Christian. You've got next to zero political, racial, and social issues to deal with. Cry me a river. I'm white, male, and atheist. The only thing that I have to complain about is when religious people vote based on their religious views, like hating gays and abortion. Politics would be so much better without religion. Maybe even the world. JMHO

There are entire counties in Kentucky that are ‘dry’. No alcohol sales at all. I use to rock climb in the Red River Gorge. We’d have to drive to the next county to buy beer.

How about religious groups publicly beating gays because "God hates ..." I didn't even want to type the term there, because I dislike the word and also because I'd probably get banned for typing it even though it wasn't directed at anyone.

It just bothers me when Christians claim they're being silenced or that their religious rights are being trampled on. I just don't see it and I think it's made up so they can feel all woe is me. yet when a white person says that about a minority, you claim they are bigots for thinking. I don't get how you feel it is your right to claim how someone or some group feels they are being treated is hogwash. Maybe you should open your eyes a bit and walk a mile in their shoes, they are not going to feel this way for no reason. Just as how minorities feel certain ways about how they are treated - it comes from somewhere. The only difference is, you will outcry and demean someone and call them a bigot or racist for saying the exact same thing you just said above. Makes you think huh?

Maxine made an EXCELLENT speech there! BRAVO Maxine BRAVO!
I'm no fan of hers, but she is right. We can't let certain transgressions stand. I'm not a fan of bothering these folks in restaurants, malls, etc. and I personally would not do it... But if that's what it takes to get their attention, so be it.
And if she hurt your feelings saying "IMPEACH TRUMP!", we on the left don't really care. YOU elected a horrible man as President. Congress is not keeping him in check, the media can't keep him in check, so the people have to do it. Don't like it?, talk to Trump about what he's doing and how he's doing it.
Daman, this is why no one's buying OCD's B.S. "olive branch". He, like so many others on the left try to do this thing where they simultaneously embrace such low tactics and violence, but add the caveat "but I wouldn't do it personally" therefor trying to create this imaginary high road where they think they come off as fair and reasonable thinking people.
One of the biggest criticisms of liberals is that they don't take responsibility. There's a number of things he's written in this thread that unfortunately illustrate just that:
-he wouldn't behave that way, but would certainly welcome the result -he blames the current climate on Trump, totally ignoring the often stated sentiment of people tired of being treated like crap by liberals for the last 10yrs. -he makes the claim that we can't converse in a civil manner because of it. BS... how we conduct ourselves is simple matter of choice.
I guess you and I just see it different. I see his olive branch as Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown. The olive branch was real, the sarcastic nasty response (yet also real) you quoted in red was to a provocation of playing a trumpian victim card. Sometimes context is everything.

So now you want to use a cult or a small subsect to once again paint all religious people with a brush? So again I point to a whatabout, because it shows your hypocrisy. If a guy calls a criminal a thug that happens to be black, you would be calling them a bigot for doing so because it is not fair to do so, which it is not. You cant sit there on some moral high ground you have created, demeaning people for the same thing you are doing. THIS is exactly the point Razor was making.

He must not live in Ohio either because you can buy beer, wine, and liquor on Sundays. I think that depends on the license. I've seen stores that sell no alcohol on Sunday... unless it's an owner's choice thing. There are also dry counties and towns.

I don't recall commenting on it on the boards....I would require you to link to your claim.....But you wont. Also, I notice you did not reply to any other part of my post, only this one sentence. Funny how easily you try to deflect.

Nice try with the deflection saying that I must not give credit to minorities complaining about injustices since I don't give credit to white christian males for the same. Because the huge difference here is that there is ACTUAL PROOF of racial injustices. And that sir, is what NFL players are kneeling for. You might not have missed it if you weren't so concerned about "Disrespecting the flag". And GM, I am from Ohio, and just about every grocery store, convenient store, and gas station can't sell wine on Sunday until like 1pm, or not at all. You can buy all the beer you want, just not wine. Tell me that isn't a religious consequence. Proof right there that religion is bad. Telling me I can't have wine on Sunday before 1pm!

That place is absolutely beautiful Had my first backpacking adventure there. It’s one of the top climbing destinations in the world. Sadly it’s also crime ridden. We’d have to break camp every morning, pack everything up and lock it in the car. Any real valuables we had to take with us on our person as cars were often broken into. There were times I’d seen trucks stripped of all valuables AND their tires in the parking areas. It was crazy. Basically the locals knew rock climbers would park and hike into the climbing walls. Leaving their cars unattended all day. But if you left your camp set up, typical rock climbers use high end tents and gear, it’d be gone when you returned. That part of it sucked...but man the sandstone was sooooo good. Hundreds of bolted routes. Such a fantastic place.

If you're actually comparing the injustices that black people face every day versus the "Injustices" that white Christian males experience, then you must be joking. Because that's hilarious. First, I never said they were "white" Christians - or even Christians, I said religious people in general. Your biased and hatred towards white Christians made you automatically assume that is who I was referring too. the more you comment, the more bigotry you expel. Secondly, in the example I proposed it is EXACTLY what you did. You classified a subsect of religious cults to the entire religious group of people, is the exact same thing that people do to minorities with a singular criminal labels an entire community. You're right about one thing, their perceived injustices do come from somewhere... Fox news, Rush, Limbaugh, Hannity, and whatever crackpot idiot is trying to boost his ratings by getting the religious right to believe lies. Now you try to spin your bigotry to someone else's fault. I've got no moral high ground, I just have morals. And I know when someone is complaining to achieve the woe is me perception.
You should have stopped at the first sentence. For someone who's last few post have been "bigly" bigoted towards religious people, I highly doubt you. I still want to know how white christian males are being silenced or forced to worship in the closet? Or any Christian for that matter. I asked previously and the best you could do was bring up Tim Tebow. Once again, it is not anyones prerogative to have to explain how THEY feel to YOU. Who do you think you are? THAT is your moral high ground I was referring too. No one has to explain a single thing to you, especially how they feel that the media or society is making them feel. FYI - I have stated multiple times that I am not religious, so maybe if you would like to learn something, you should speak with a religious person who feels that way. Slamming them like you have been on this thread is not a good starting point however. Try again. Cuz it doesn't really happen. You have been demeaning them this entire thread, your bigotry will not allow you to see that however. Nice try with the deflection saying that I must not give credit to minorities complaining about injustices since I don't give credit to white christian males for the same. Once again, you keep saying white Christian males...do you not see the problem you have? You automatically assume that all religious folks are white Christians. I know a lot of black Christians that feel this very same way. I know Muslims that feel their faith has been trampled on as well. Maybe you should just stop...... Proof right there that religion is bad. Telling me I can't have wine on Sunday before 1pm! Buying and having are two different things. You realize they give wine away at some churches right.......... Man, im done with you one this. You have been schooled over and over, shown to have slanted biases and bigotry towards others beliefs, and quite frankly, I am ashamed. I thought you were better than that. I guess not.

None of them are civil, except reckless driving, which varies by state/offense.

If you ignore the fact that the kids aren't the one put in detention or under arrest in these situations. No, they often are. The point is that none of those things are civil offenses. They're all criminal, with the exception of "reckless driving", which can be criminal based on the severity of the offense. The "this happens all the time in other crimes" talking point relies on not knowing the difference between a criminal and civil offense. If anyone can think of a civil offense that carries a maximum penalty of $250 that results in forceable removal and detention of the offender's children, I'm all ears.

Any American examples? When you post an example of Seth Rogan saying "Christians don't care if we make fun of them." as a counterexample of muslim women being attacked for wearing hijabs, it seems rather tone deaf.

What is he doing wrong? Children are separated from their parents all the time when the parents commit a crime.
Can you name any other civil misdemeanors punishable by a $50-$250 fine that result in children being separated from their parents? -Simple Possession -Careless and Reckless Driving -Driving on a Suspended License -DWI -Trespassing -Drunk and Disorderly I guess that ends that talking point..... If you ignore the fact that the kids aren't the one put in detention or under arrest in these situations. No, they often are. When their parents did the crime?

Any American examples? When you post an example of Seth Rogan saying "Christians don't care if we make fun of them." as a counterexample of muslim women being attacked for wearing hijabs, it seems rather tone deaf. S simple good search will allow you do so. In the search bar at the top - just type your question. I am glad you are able to tell Christians and other people of religious beliefs how they should feel. Are you going to tell them when they are allowed to pray next?

He must not live in Ohio either because you can buy beer, wine, and liquor on Sundays. I'm pretty sure those are typically county ordinances.. I'm not aware of any statewide bans on alcohol purchases on Sunday but I'm aware of a number of county/municipality bans..

Much of what I read on here about Christians is stereotyping and completely tone deaf.. but I'm not allowed to complain about it because we are the majority. Carry on...

Sure. If you get arrested for a criminal offense that requires you be held, and you have no next of kin, where do you think the kid goes? Detention until foster care.
But, again, that would be for a criminal offense. There is no civil offense I can think of where the offender is separated from their kids and detained.

b) Improper time or place; civil penaltiesAny alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of— (1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or (2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection. Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed. The average punishment is exactly the same fine average as that of a speeding ticket - $150. Imagine arguing that a speeding ticket should reasonably call for a separation and detention of a parent and child.

All parents caught crossing the border illegally are prosecuted on a federal misdemeanor charge — meaning they’re sent to jail. Parents are separated from their children at that stage because kids can’t be sent to jails.
