I'm thinking the "grand plan" of getting a trio of superstars in LA fizzled out because San Antonio is refusing the trade Kawhi for pennies on the dollar. (As well they should) They can try it again next year when all become free agents, but the Lakers would have to decline team options on just about everyone if they want to bring those guys in on near-max deals.

I would like to see him here with the new kid and some of the deadwood traded away. His deadline is Friday, neh?

reading some insider Laker forums, there are reports that Lebron's team met with Jeannie Buss and Warner Brothers about TV/Movie agreements. Basically, Lebron's new goal is to make Uninterrupted and Springhill huge.

This is pretty much where I'm at as well. I hope he stays but I'm not optimistic about it. If he goes elsewhere then I wish him well, I just hope it's not a big production this time. Just announce it and be done with it. Based on how things are going I'm not optimistic about this either.

Cavs ‘beyond busy’ with LeBron decision looming

Random dribbles on the Cleveland Cavaliers as their biggest offseason since 2014 awaits.

1. It’s no secret the Cavs general manager Koby Altman and owner Dan Gilbert are busy pursuing trades to try to improve the club with LeBron James expected to opt out of his contract Friday.

2. As ESPN reported, the Cavs even picked up the option on Kendrick Perkins’ deal to help facilitate a trade.

3. According to league sources, the Cavs are “beyond busy” exploring trades and are “deep” in scenarios to add a dynamic player or two.

4. And yes, among the ideas is to clear cap space to land Oklahoma City Thunder star Paul George and/or Houston Rockets free-agent Chris Paul, as ESPN also reported. Nothing is close, but nothing has been shot down, either.

5. Dave McMenamin of ESPN shared similar news earlier. “Team sources told ESPN that the Cavs ‘continue to explore all options to improve’ heading into LeBron James’ decision about his future with the franchise,” he wrote.

6. Meanwhile, the Cavs have indeed been in touch with LeBron’s camp, as Altman mentioned on the night of the draft. Sources told Amico Hoops that LeBron’s team has done nothing to ensure LeBron is staying — but the Cavs have not been discouraged, either.

7. In fact, the front office seems to not only believe the Cavs are squarely in the mix for LeBron, but perhaps the team to beat.

8. The Los Angeles Lakers also believe they stand a good chance because … well, they’re the Lakers. But despite some reports that LeBron has already reached a decision, many around the league feel he is merely leaning one way — and waiting to see if anyone can put together a great reason for him to leave Cleveland.

9. Granted, it won’t be easy for the Cavs to land a George or a Paul. Because of they’re already so deep into the luxury tax, they can’t receive players in sign-and-trade arrangements. Instead, the Cavs will have to find a way to miraculously clear cap space with trades, then convince George and/or Paul to join in free agency.

10. One side note to all that: The Cavs believe it’s possible.

11. ESPN reported San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard could be a big player in all this, and that sure sounds right. The Lakers want Leonard, with or without LeBron. Apparently, like George, Leonard wants the Lakers, too. But without at least one, it’s hard to envision LeBron landing in LA.

12. Finally, yes, the Spurs are among the teams being called on by the Cavs. Other than the Cavs trying to pry away Leonard, there’s no information on who else is being discussed. If a deal ever happens, you can bet it will cost the Cavs at least Kevin Love or first-round draft pick Collin Sexton — or both.

All I will say is, if there is a way to make some miracle trade happen for another all star, the Cavs are the best team at making that happen. They are very determined.

I give Dan & Co props for trying harder than any Cle team in recent memory at making things happen.

Although this new Browns front office might compete with that. We'll see.

I hope any of these trades they end up making arent for lebron...unless he signs his supermax..if he's only doing his 1 year crap I don't even put him in the equation..just build the team the way you want and if lebron wants to be a part of it great, if not, its still your team and the way you want it. I still think the biggest mistake so far is not replacing the HC...if lebron leaves, I'd love to see Lue replaced by a coach that can develop players.. Lue isn't that guy

The Spurs are fully engaged in trade talks with several teams on Kawhi Leonard, including the Lakers and Celtics, league sources tell ESPN. Boston has long had the assets that the Spurs most covet in a potential Leonard trade.

The Spurs can still play long game with Leonard, try to repair relationship and get to a place where they're comfortable offering $219M super max. The urgency to get a deal done belongs to Lakers now, but circumstances and leverage can change quickly.

They need trade assets. Hood's $3.4 million qualifying offer isn't that much in the scheme of things, and he could be a chip. (or he could play like he did in game 3(IIRC?).

He's also young, a former starter and we can only replace him with vet minimum players.

He will either sign a massive 5 year, max deal here, or a slightly less impressive 4 year deal elsewhere.

Yeah. All this really does is narrow the teams down to Cleveland, LA and maybe Philly.

I know it may not be popular opinion, but if I’m the Cavs I tell lebron it’s the long term deal or nothing. It’s these 1 and 1 deals that have hurt us. So either sign 5 year and let’s build it or start rebuilding early, if lebron wasn’t going to be 34 I might consider but he’s not a spring chicken and who knows how much more he can be worth the max or the trouble to keep holding them hostage every year. I also think this is his last chance at a supermax

Sounds like James Dolan is getting ready to sell all of his teams. I really think the Knicks will have a true super team in a few years. I think Kyrie ends up there, along with another big name.

At his age one would think the next place would be the last place so he'd be wise to sign a long term deal.

I don't think bouncing from team to team chasing rings is going to help his legacy.
