What is it?

A 4 year $150 million contract? (excuse me if I missed a few millions)

What is that in 1990 dollars?

Like only $25 million?

Magic Johnson got paid $2.7 million in 1990.

Not saying it's good or bad. Just a fact.

I wonder what caused it. TV revenues?

I think this decision was arrived at longer ago than we are told. Money is there. Many thanks for what we have. Not an LA fan. Not gullible enough to think that Gilbert could have any effect on this decision. It sure happened fast for something we were told LBJ was wrestling with. I believe the decision was cut and dried before the plane took off, much less when it landed. Based on nothing.

Please! I live here. Most of them are bandwagon fans that will have to trade in their Golden State gear to get their new Lebron jerseys. The other half of those "true basketball fans" have belittled all of Lebron's accomplishments up until this point, because, gawd forbid he might actually be better than Kobe.

On the bright side you can just keep asking people, "What's it like to watch the greatest Laker ever?"

With Lebron leaving, the Vegas odds on the Cavs winning the 2019 championship are currently 500-1.

LeBron is much bigger than the Cavs, he proved it when he returned.

Cleveland never appreciated him, what he means to the sport, his size and stature and what he did with this miserable excuse of an organization.

LA is a basketball city, so if he does half of what he did in here we will be a legend there and will be truly appreciated.

This has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this forum. And I've read a lot of dumb stuff here.

LOL, no kidding! Cleveland didn't appreciate Lebron? But LAKERS fans will?? rofl

They haven't appreciated Lebron once in his career, why would they start now?

There is no fan base in all of sports more loyal to their TEAMS than Cleveland fans. To say we did t know what Lebron stood for is beyond laughable.

I'd argue that the more outrageous claim is his opinion of Laker fans. His location says TN, so maybe he doesn't realize how bandwagon that fanbase is. Just because ESPN never quits about the Lakers, doesn't mean they support their team.

So one thing I just realized, and I'm not sure if folks have forgotten or not...

Isaiah Thomas was dealt to the Lakers earlier this year... IIRC, he's a FA.

Thoughts? Did Isaiah Thomas not fit with Lebron, or was the issue with the makeup of the whole team? Again, IIRC, he didn't exactly catch fire after he was shipped to LA.

Maybe the prayers of everyone dying to see this at ESPN? They have been breathless while knowing nothing explaining why he must go.

He is gone. Move along. Something magic just passed on.

One thing I didn't think about, but I heard it in passing ..... Lebron is going to lose a ton of money moving his residence to LA, and paying LA/California taxes on that $50 million/or, or so.

Man, if I figured this right, he is going from 8%, or so, in Ohio and Cuyahoga County ..... to 21%, or so, in LA. Yikes!

that's quite a chunk of money ... obviously it doesn't mean MUCH to him, but still

Is his primary residence gonna be LA? either way you pay taxes on where you play, so it varies significantly from game to game.

I don't really agree w/rasta, but I think it's wrong for so many of you to be blasting him as if he said the dumbest things ever. It's not nearly as dumb as one poster constantly calling the Cavs "garbage" or "trash" for the last 4 years. It's not nearly as dumb as saying LeBron was hurting the Cavs and we would be better off w/out him. Fans on this message board have been ripping LeBron and the Cavs for quite awhile. Well, y'all got what you wished for........the Cavs are going to build through the draft. We'll see how that works out for you.

I heard Rondo just signed w/the Lakers. They are getting stronger. I also wonder if this means they might try and trade Ball?

I think that Kawhi might sit out this year if he doesn't get traded to the Lakers this year. He would then join LeBron in LA next year and the Lakers would not have to trade a bunch of their good players for him.

Watch out for the Lakers next year. Showtime II.

But half of his games will be in LA, so it sort of applies. The sales tax here is something like 8%, and more in the larger cities too. The media always makes a big deal about players signing for Florida or Texas because they have no sales tax, but for some reason the other end of the scale doesn't matter.

Stating that Cle fans are somehow not passionate about basketball whereas LA fans are....is a joke. You have a personal beef with a couple posters who disagree with you.

Well Eve, I think they have a better chance than the Cavs do.

I'm sorry, but I really got sick of reading and hearing all the negative comments from supposed Cavs fans [and lead was the leader] over the last four years. This year was an all-time worst.

lead and others like him got what they wished for. We'll see how it turns out. I'll bet you any amount of money you want that the Lakers win more than the Cavs do.

Nobody cares about your personal beef with lead.

If you want to say that Cle fans are somehow not passionate sports fans then you are just as dumb as the people you complain about.

Cle had no chance getting past a full strength Bos next year. Just like La has no chance getting past a full strength Hou/Okc/Gs.

The west is a lot more stacked than the east.

So Lebron obviously picked that path for non-basketball reasons.

Really going out on a limb there. The Lakers DO have Lebron, while the Cavs don't. Do the Lakers go further in the Playoffs than the Cavs did last year? I don't see it. Do the Cavs win more than the 35 games the Lakers did last year? If they don't completely gut the team, it's possible, but I'm not sure we'll get to see.

Well Eve, I don't care if you "don't care." I'm speaking my mind. Deal w/it.

You can call me "dumb," but I think almost everyone knows better than that.

Cavs fans on this board have sucked. Many ruined what should have been a good time w/their constant whining about how "bad" the team was.

Well folks, you're about to get a dose of reality. Have fun getting what you wished for.

You sound bitter about posters. Because if you were realistic you would know that all posters not named lead have rooted hard for the Cavs.

I personally spent thousands of dollars to go to Cle to watch them get swept in the finals. And I'm not even a super fan, I'm just an average fan.
I dont even live in Cle.

While I was in Cle I saw so much love for the Cavs even though everyone knew we were getting swept.

So, you can go sit in your bitter little boy corner, while the rest of us actual fans support Cle instead of juvenile posting agendas crying about other posters.

DeMarcus Cousins signing contract with Golden State Warriors
1 comment
The NBA’s superteam just got more super.

Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

Former Kentucky Wildcats star and New Orleans Pelicans center DeMarcus Cousins has reportedly agreed to a contract with the Golden State Warriors, according to Woj.

Cousins will play on his third team in three years, originally being drafted by and playing seven seasons with the Sacramento Kings before being traded to and playing two seasons for the Pelicans.

The four-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection is coming off an Achilles injury suffered in February.

Prior to the season-ending rupture, Cousins was having his best season as a pro. He was enjoying a winning culture in New Orleans with former Wildcat Anthony Davis. The Pelicans were considered to have the potential of wreaking havoc in the spring’s NBA Playoffs.

Rajon Rondo signing with Los Angeles Lakers

On Monday, the Pelicans elected to go with a former Wildcat in free agency. However, it wasn’t Cousins making his return. Instead it was Julius Randle who signed a two-year deal worth $18 million.

With Randle joining the Pelicans, it eliminated any chance of a return to New Orleans for Boogie.

Now, in Golden State, he’ll try to not only bounce back from a serious injury but also maintain the maturity he showed last season while contending for a title. Golden State will be the heavy favorite to win it all next season.

Dear God, DeMarcus Cousins Is Signing With The Warriors

If any Warriors fans were the least bit scared of a LeBron-led Lakers squad, they probably don’t have to be anymore. Multiple outlets are reporting that New Orleans Pelicans beast DeMarcus Cousins is heading to Golden State, signing a contract for considerably less money than he’s worth (despite his Achilles injury last season).

May the Lord have mercy on the Western Conference.

I want BOS to beat them.

It wont happen.

But I'll be rooting anyway.

I disliked Kyrie for the way he dissed CLE, but hey I dont see anyone else being much more than a speedbump for GS.

This is interesting. I was watching a show or reading an article and there was a discussion that dynasties are good for a sport. That they create interest.

I was thinking that I have a completely polar viewpoint. I enjoy parity. I enjoy not knowing who is going to win it each year. I despise dynasties and all the media hype that follows them.

I wonder what most of you think? Do you prefer a dynasty type team in any given sport or do you like it when there are at least a few teams that have a legit shot to win it all?

So, did the Cavs have the same exemption? Why couldn't they have kept LeBron and signed Boogie?
