Loo was a PG, and we just drafted a top 10 PG .... so I think that he stays for now.

I don't think that he has to be the long term guy. If he can develop young players, then he'll stay for now.

We're also trying to lose enough games that we're in the top 10 and don't lose a draft pick. wink

Honestly, I'm kind of curious to see what the team looks like. Will we find out that it was Lebron that was insisting we stuck to certain lineups and ran 1-on-5 sets? Or was it Lue? I thought our team looked best the first few games after we got Hill, Nance and the others. We were running basic sets, moving the ball around and it worked.

Best team looked all year was when Lue was out and Drew was coaching, the drop off was tangible after Lue came back

I would consider hiring Drew to head coach, especially with James evacuating.

He seemed to get it done well when Loo was gone. I liked the way they played.

We’ve already signed him to a 2way contract

I don't get how Kyrie could say "We don't need Lebron", when they were winning 20 games without him. crazy (OK, slight exaggeration, but only slight)

Because to be the best you have to beat the best. It's the same reason why no star wants to play with LeBron.

Also LeBron wasn't exactly charging, "Keep it up, Kyrie and I might be back one day." I could understand why some people would not want to live in his shadow.

Nice fit for the Dubs.

2018 NBA free agency: Jonas Jerebko to sign with Warriors after being waived by Jazz, per report - CBSSports.com
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2018-...azz-per-report/

Jonas Jerebko appears to be heading from an NBA contender to an NBA juggernaut. The stretch forward had a solid season for the Jazz, but his time in Utah didn't last long as the team waived Jerebko on Saturday after just one season.
Jerebko is a player who could help a good team right now. So it shouldn't be surprising to hear that the Warriors are among the teams having an interest in signing him. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Jerebko plans to sign with Golden State on Monday once he's cleared waivers.

Forward Jonas Jerebko plans to sign with the Golden State Warriors upon clearing waivers on Monday, league sources tell ESPN. Jerebko has a $4.2M salary that would need to be guaranteed if he's claimed.

Everybody is tired of hearing about how the Warriors are unstoppable. Well, Jerebko would only make them better as he's actually a fantastic fit with Golden State. It's surprising to say this, but the Warriors offense occasionally had moments where it would sputter last season if too many of their shooters were off the floor. A stretch forward like Jerebko would not only help address that issue, but he'd slide into the heavy 3-point offense they run so seamlessly.

Of course, other teams would be crazy to not show some interest in him as well. He's not the perfect modern forward, but he fits the mold of what many teams want from a stretch player these days. The only way he doesn't end up on the Warriors though is if for some reason he gets claimed off waivers before Monday.

In non-Lebron news, Cedi Osman has had a pretty good summer. He was tearing it up in his Euro-tournament earlier this summer, and is looking good in NBA Summer League as well. Tonight he scored 25 points in 31 minutes, with 6 rebounds and 6 assists as well.

Sexton has done alright too. He'd definitely a raw rookie, and he needs to work on his shot, but he's shown some glimpses of athleticism that makes you go wow. We just have to remember he's only 19 and he has time (and willingness) to grow.

Imagine if he became a player even remotely qualified for a building mural ..... wink

I do think that Osman will become a capable NBA starter. I like him, and look forward to seeing him develop.

So on 92.3 they said Collin has been playing well thus far in the summer league. 21 points in his last recent one. Looking at the highlights, he had some nice passes too.

The Cavs youngsters won without Zizic or Cedi. They had been 2 of the best players on the Cavs in the Summer League.

There is a lot to like about Sexton, especially his attitude. He has a chance to be a really good leader of the franchise.

Sadly, there might not be much to lead for a while.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Sexton making Cavs’ summer a little sunnier

http://amicohoops.net/nba-story-collin-sexton-cleveland-cavaliers-nba-summer-league-nba-rumors/

It was the type of performance the Cleveland Cavaliers wanted to see from Collin Sexton.

It was the performance of a point guard with All-Star potential, the performance of someone who can make an immediate impact with a franchise that suddenly could use one.

Was it just a summer league game? Of course. There’s no debating, for the most part, that this was a meaningless 96-84 win over the Sacramento Kings in the opener of the Las Vegas tournament Wednesday. (The Cavs, by the way, advance to face the Houston Rockets on Saturday).

Still, Sexton’s showing shouldn’t be totally dismissed, either.

He erupted for 25 points, seven assists and four rebounds — displaying exceptional speed with the ball, superb confidence and a sharp mid-range game.

With LeBron James off to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Cavs are on the lookout for someone who can fill the seats with a little flair. Maybe the No. 8 overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft can be their man.

“Collin’s been very good,” Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said in an exclusive interview with cleveland.com. “I like the way he attacks the basket. He’s good in the pick-and-roll. He’s got a good pull-up jump shot, and he’s just making the right play.

“There are some things he still needs to work on, but I am very, very pleased with the way Collin’s been playing.”

If the Cavs intend to compete next season, and shock the skeptics (as guard Jordan Clarkson suggested they will do), they will need to do so as a team.

They will need to play with some swagger. They will need someone who doesn’t back down, someone who doesn’t play soft, someone who doesn’t shy away from playing with lots of passion and drive.

Yes, it’s only summer league, but Sexton is showing those characteristics. And those are all things that tend to carry over to the games that matter.

How badly did the Cavs want Sexton?

According to cleveland.com, they had a chance to trade with the Atlanta Hawks to acquire the third overall pick and shooting guard Kent Bazemore on the night of the draft. They stuck with Sexton instead.

Now, he doesn’t have the handles or range of a Kyrie Irving, or needless to say, the size and skill of a James. As Lue pointed out, Sexton has a ways to go.

But there are worse things than for the Cavs to believe in something good, even if it is just July — and even if many of Sexton’s current opponents will be playing in Belgium or some other far off place next season.

This is about promise, and right now, Sexton is providing plenty.

“He’s been showing it from day one, just his toughness,” Cavs summer coach James Posey said, via the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “He’s going to get better, but right now he’s doing a great job.”

Small forward Jamel Artis, who appeared in 15 games for the Orland Magic last season, added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Cavs. Big man Okaro White tacked on 13 points and also had seven boards.

Swingman Cedi Osman and center Ante Zizic, two forces for the Cavs’ summer team, sat out to give the other guys a chance.

Justin Jackson led the Kings with 20 points. Second overall draft pick Marvin Bagley III has a pelvic bone bruise and did not play.

As for Sexton, well, even the Cavs who played with James are taking note.

“I really like how he plays,” Osman said. “He’s going to help us a lot this year.”

I liked this kid's hustle and wondered why Loo didn't play him more. Certainly showed more effort than some of our starters.

I liked the effort and the motor on him and on Nance. Be wrong in motion.

So, apparently the Cavs had a chance to draft Luka Doncic. They sort of buried that in this article about Colin Sexton scoring 25:

https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2018/07/collin_sexton_disciple_of_chri.html

Quote:
A source said the Cavs were offered on draft night the chance to trade up to No. 3 with the Hawks in a deal that would've sent Kent Bazemore to Cleveland. Instead, Atlanta swapped spots with No. 5 Dallas, and the Mavericks ended up with Luka Doncic while the Hawks landed Trae Young.

Cleveland wanted Sexton and held firm at No. 8. Again, it's very, very, very early, but the Cavs have every reason to be pleased with their pick. No one drafted ahead of Sexton is averaging more points per game in Vegas than him.

So I guess Sexton is the guy we really wanted? I hope this isn't something that comes back to bite us in the future.

Speaking of Bazemore and his UA ties, I pulled into a gas station this morning behind a guy driving a luxury car that looked like a dead-ringer for James Harden. Except that he was probably 6 feet tall, and his vanity plate mentioned "UA" (Harden is an Adidas guy). Was just an odd morning.

LeBron James mural in L.A. erased by original artist after another case of vandalism
Quote:

The artist was apparently sick of people messing with his artwork

The much-discussed Los Angeles mural featuring LeBron James in a Lakers uniform is no more.

One of the artists who originally painted the mural has undone his work this week, painting over the artwork, which was located on the side of a BBQ restaurant in Venice, California.

The mural, created by Jonas Never and another artist named Menso, depicted LeBron in his new digs along with the words "The King of LA."

Following two cases of vandalization in less than a week, Never decided to erase the work on Wednesday. He was apparently sick of the mural being messed with and decided to scrub it himself rather than let it continue to be defaced.

The mural was quick to be painted after LeBron signed with the Lakers earlier this offseason, but it had a short and tumultuous life.

One Lakers fan on Twitter -- @BenOsaze, who calls himself "Unofficial Spokesperson for the Los Angeles Lakers Fanbase" --offered an irresistible $300 cash reward for the vandalization of the mural on Friday. When someone questioned why the self-proclaimed spokesperson would offer up a reward for a hit against the depiction of a star player on his own team, the guy responded "no murals until he wins a title."

And apparently that offer was too enticing to pass up, as the mural was defaced by Sunday. Whoever followed through on the hit spray painted several insults on the mural, including "we don't want you," "LEFRAUD" and "3-6" (a reference to LeBron's career NBA Finals record).

A user on Twitter took credit for the vandalism, posted video of the proof, and asked for the $300 reward before deleting their account. @BenOsaze also locked his account once news of the defacement went public on Sunday.

The initial case of vandalism was short-lived, as the mural was fixed by Sunday night -- though with a slight alteration. The "of" was removed from "The King of LA," which seemingly was an attempt to appease some Lakers supporters who are loyal to stars of the franchise's past.

However, a second (and more egregious) case of vandalism followed later in the week, and Never had enough.

Considering how much talent, time and effort it takes to construct an artistic piece like that, it's pretty sad that this guy had to take an eraser to it after such a short period of time just because a couple of petty fools had to act like children and disrespect his work.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Say what you want about LeBron going to LA but this is pretty lousy. It was a nice mural. (pics and tweets are in the link.)

I wouldn’t say that, much as I hate to see him in another uniform, he really did give his all from the time he came back to the time he left.
