dont tell rocky that. racism is a sham, according to him.

The cause is fine. The strategy is misguided, in my opinion.

You're not going to offend me by saying you disagree, so don't worry about it Vers.

Working in this case has multiple meanings, and it's possible we may be thinking of it in different ways? You may have taken my statement to mean that the kneeling is working to portend social change. I'm actually not so sure that's the case. I only think it's working to keep it in the public consciousness. Whether that is eventually a force for good or bad remains to be seen.

Now where I disagree on is that this is causing a divide, only because the divide is already there. I don't need to run a poll of african americans and caucasians to know that they view the police vary differently. And that difference goes back more than a century. Yet if the players just "Shut up and tackled" as it were, there would be no dialog among people who have a high opinion of police to at least question to themselves if that opinion is warranted.

Sometimes to bring up uncomfortable issues requires that you make others feel uncomfortable. At the very least, if you think the strategy is misguided, do you have a better idea? Not being sarcastic here, I'm quite serious. Because I've thought about it and while I'm certain a better protest exists, I can't think of it. So maybe you have.

I think the difference is that all the protests against breast cancer raise not only awareness, but money. I might be wrong, but I always thought that those events like the Race for the Cure and whatnot had some of the profits go towards research.

Those aren't protests.. those are fundraisers and to increase awareness..

Quote:
So, in that regard, I think it would be a good opportunity for the players and anyone else to build on the Anthem kneeling protests, and arrange some additional protests/events for fundraising to help their cause, or perhaps help victims of police brutality.

I for one, would happily participate in a 5k for that cause.

There are fundraising opportunities out there... but, the NFL won't let players promote their own charity interests on NFL time either...

Big no to equality.....Yet it’s ok to deface the American Flag with the image Trump on it.

I took that test that Swish posted. Mine came up Social Liberalism.

Understand something, bro. I don't let my own personal beliefs get in the way of winning. Socialists won't win the election because there are too many working middle class people who vote and they don't want an even bigger government that taxes the crap out of them.

Thus, while I agree w/a ton of their ideas, I sure as hell will not support them in an election.

Again we disagree. Government wouldn't be any bigger than it is now. It would just be more focused on the good for all legislation instead of the good for a few.

As you would say.........."you lie."

I have very strong opinions. I'm not ignorant enough to think that one side is completely right and the other completely wrong.

I am open-minded enough to hear the views of all parties.

I am intelligent enough to evaluate all of the information presented and formulate my own unique opinions.

I believe in fairness. In equity. In being open-minded. I believe in evolving as a person who seeks to further his education while maintaining sound character.

You can bash me as much as you like. You can attack my character and my intelligence. I have no problem w/that because I am extremely secure in who I am as a person and your indictments reflect more on you than they do on me.

Common, they’re available all over. Just saw a 2’x5’ trump/banner/flag on eBay for $7.99. Google it. I’ve also seen Trump’s image defacing old glory at his rallies and gatherings shown on media outlets including Fox News. So please don’t act like this isn’t a thing.

There are plenty of different ways that the issues can be protested. BUT, from the NFL owners perspective the answer is blindingly simple.. play anthem before anyone comes out. No protests, no problems no huhu.

You guys crack me up. You just don’t get it. They’ve tried plenty of different ways to protest these issues. Kap found the one that po’s the very people who don’t want equality at all. Those who want segregation are insulted as they show up here and voice their hate by masking It and saying players kneeling for the NA is disgracing the military. Deplorable! At least we know what rhe KKK are behind their masks!

The NFL players have every right to be on the field during the national anthem and to peacefully protest it by taking a knee for equality. Get over it.

I'm offended by the kneeling and most of the people I know are also offended. Its also bad for Black/White relationships. I can't believe you and others think that people against kneeling are KKK. Grow up Spiral ,Just because the Dems tell you that you are a victim doesn't mean you are.

Twittertator at it again:

Quote:
“The NFL players are at it again – taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem,” Trump tweeted. “Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their ‘outrage’ at something that most of them are unable to define. They make a fortune doing what they love………..Be happy, be cool! A football game, that fans are paying soooo much money to watch and enjoy, is no place to protest. Most of that money goes to the players anyway. Find another way to protest. Stand proudly for your National Anthem or be Suspended Without Pay!”

Yes, he even outlined what the punishments should be. He also said that players who kneel, "maybe shouldn't be in our country."

I mean you know how much the GOP hates regulations and when government trues to interfere with business. But they love kicking anyone out of the country they don't deem to be worthy.

The man is a swine.

Don't be fooled: this has less to do with football players and anthems, and has more to do with ginning up his base for the midterm elections. As the recent Special Election in Ohio's 12th has shown, Trump's R+7 has barely helped Baldi survive the challenge by O'Connor, who has a virtual nobody before he ran for Tiberi's vacated seat. Col's went heavily for the Dem, and Suburbs came out in positive numbers as well. The exurbs ran 50/50 and rurals ran heavily strong for BaldiTrump. And that was after the GOP threw everything they has at this race.

This has been trending since Alabama. Penn went Connor Lamb. Ed Gillespie ran as a Trump Clone and got crushed. Reps are worried, and rightly so.

This is by design. GOP wanted to run on their tax bill win, but it's hugely unpopular across wide swaths of Americans. The Prez hovers at around 40%, which is a statistical worry, as well. Those Dems who are doing well are running on issues, and not an anti-Trump message. If 45* can't muster enthusiasm from his die hards, there will be a 'Red Wave' alright... they'll be waving good-buy to DC with a U-Haul attached to the backs of their cars.

If the tax break is hugely unpopular across wide swaths of America I wonder how many of you lefties refused it or sent it back? I offered to take it off your hands but have not received a dime.
