Yes, and now you realize when they "abuse" those clearances,
they "lose" those clearances.

The statement said that Brennan had been "leveraging" the clearance to make "wild outbursts" and claims against the Trump administration.

The statement further said other persons' security clearance would also be reviewed, including that of recently fired FBI official Peter Strzok.

Certainly. Did you not watch the News as he used his position as former CIA Director to speak with authority and be paid for it?
Did you not see him use that authority to attack the President of the United States with a charge of Treason?

His Clearance added to his paycheck and perceived authority because people assumed he knew something we didn't know.

The Treason charge against the President was false, no charges filed and that BS has been thrown out with the rest of the trash.

Many on here said he is a private citizen now, so he can say what he wants. Well now he is. He is just another idiot talking head on CNN and MSNBC with no more knowledge of secrets than the rest of those idiots.

It's probably not too hard to obtain a security clearance even for him. The real question is the level of said clearance. That's what truly matters.

Bin Laden raid commander to Trump: revoke my security clearance too

https://www.yahoo.com/news/bin-laden-raid-commander-trump-revoke-security-clearance-195909346.html

Washington (AFP) - William McRaven, commander of the US Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden, condemned President Donald Trump on Thursday for revoking the security clearance of former CIA chief John Brennan and asked that his be withdrawn as well.

The decorated retired Navy admiral, in an open letter published in The Washington Post, defended Brennan as "one of the finest public servants I have ever known" and accused Trump of using "McCarthy-era tactics."

"Few Americans have done more to protect this country than John," McRaven said. "He is a man of unparalleled integrity, whose honesty and character have never been in question, except by those who don't know him."

"Therefore, I would consider it an honor if you would revoke my security clearance as well, so I can add my name to the list of men and women who have spoken up against your presidency," he said.

McRaven was the head of US Joint Special Operations Command from 2011 to 2014 and supervised the SEAL raid that killed bin Laden in Pakistan in 2011.

"Like most Americans, I had hoped that when you became president, you would rise to the occasion and become the leader this great nation needs," McRaven said.

"A good leader tries to embody the best qualities of his or her organization," he said. "A good leader sets the example for others to follow.

"A good leader always puts the welfare of others before himself or herself."

"Your leadership, however, has shown little of these qualities," McRaven said. "Through your actions, you have embarrassed us in the eyes of our children, humiliated us on the world stage and, worst of all, divided us as a nation.

"If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken," McRaven said. "The criticism will continue until you become the leader we prayed you would be."

Trump revoked the security clearance of Brennan on Wednesday and warned several other prominent critics that they too risk being blacklisted.

Following the president's summit last month with Russia's Vladimir Putin, Brennan -- who headed the CIA under Obama -- described Trump's behavior as "nothing short of treasonous."

Trump for his part accused the ex-spy chief of tossing around "unfounded and outrageous allegations -- wild outbursts on the internet and television -- about this administration" and engaging in "increasingly frenzied commentary."

Trump gears up to strip more clearances from officials tied to Russia investigation

i could only imagine the crap trump supporters would've said about obama if he started yanking clearances from people for no other reason than they criticize him.

There was a reason why my first post in this thread was "dumb a f."

Previous admin with clearances are valuable resources when it comes to previously-gained intel... intel that can help the present admin navigate waters that they are unfamiliar (or at least less familiar) with.

Burning bridges like this is st00pit, myopic and ultimately self-defeating, even if the currents are philosophically at odds with the pasts.

But each admin takes on the persona of its CEO, and this one has always been too arrogant to realize just how stupid he really is. And that's different than ignorant.

Ignorance is a lack of information. Ignorance can be cured.
Stupid is having accessti the info, but no desire to use or make sense of it. After the age of about 21, 'stupid' is usually incurable. This one has 50 years of stupid built up in his system. He'll die as dumb as he was when he was lurching and lumbering his way through Wharton.

This is grudge politics all the way. Take the clearance because he didn't flatter me enough.

So let him go it alone... and look the fool when he makes a decision that lacks insight and intel that could have been his.

"What nose? Wow face... you sure look dumb now!"

Just another of those generals who knows less than Orange Julius- so, no great loss, right?

rolleyes

Who cares if they now outnumber the few good men who still love 45? All of them are wrong. Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Judge Jeanine and Brian Kilmeade are right. We (and that includes POTUS) should all be listening to them.

Special ops shoot down Brennan and his defenders: 'You put your politics before us'

John Brennan rallied numerous high-powered defenders to his corner over his security clearance clash with President Trump, but some well-known special ops heroes are firing back suggesting the former CIA director got what he deserves.

Kris “Tanto” Paronto, a former Army Ranger and private security contractor who was part of the CIA team that fought back during the 2012 Benghazi terror attack, accused Brennan of putting his “politics” before those in the field.

“He is lucky the security clearance is all he is getting away with,” Paronto told Fox News in an interview on Friday.

Responding a day earlier to Brennan’s tweet that his “principles are worth far more than clearances,” Paronto also tweeted:

“My principles are greater than clearances too John, especially when you and the @CIA kool-aid drinkers punishes us for not going along with the Benghazi cover-up story in order to protect you, @HillaryClinton’s & @BarackObama’s failures. You put your politics before us.”

After years upon years of investigating Benghazi, they have come up with a big zero. Yet they still clamor.

After 18 months of investigating Russians they scream to wrap it up.

You can't make this BS up folks!

After Hillary facing 11 hours of testimony willingly, Trump's lawyers have spent months trying to "work out a deal" and still waffle on him testifying.

The dream goes on forever but the story never ends.

A steady diet of junk food is unhealthy. Variety in one's diet promotes better health.

I say this because I've only ever seen you regurgitate stuff labeled FOX nooz. A study conducted 2 years ago showed that people who consume FOX news were less informed that people who sought out no news at all.

I'm not your doctor, but I'll give you some advice: vary your diet. You're too addicted FOX... the Arby's of infonetworks.

Well in the other thread it seems he believes that America is represented by confederate monuments and slavery, so I would really care what he thinks anyway.

The problem is Clem, unless those with the experience are still presenting it in a useful and needed manner, there really is no use for them to have one.

I think a lot of people don't understand how security clearances work. Obviously there are different levels, but having a clearance at a specific level doesn't automatically give you free access to everything and anything under that level. For example: I used to have a Secret clearance based on the communications equipment I worked on. That clearance didn't give me access to Secret level battle plans or anything else or access to the ingredients for the mess hall's special sauce. There is still a "need to know" restriction as it pertains specifically to your job.

Unless Brennan is a) still employed by the U.S. gov't or b) employed by a company contracted by the U.S. gov't... there is no justifiable reason for him to have one because there is no justifiable or legal reason for him to have access to classified information.

Frankly if I was Trump, I'd take those who signed that little petition to have their clearances revoked up on their request. At that level of the Game people in those positions should be above politics. If they would rather grand stand, I say give them the attention and let them become martyrs for their cause. It's not like anyone will remember who they are much less care by election time.

“You cannot charge a president with obstruction of justice for exercising his constitutional power and his constitutional authority".

The President has the Constitutional Power to remove anyone's security clearance at any time. He is the chief law enforcement officer under our Constitution.

I doubt he would do this but it is something new for you to get your hair on fire about.

Obstruction of justice
Obstruction of justice is defined in the omnibus clause of 18 U.S.C. § 1503, which provides that "whoever . . . . corruptly or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication, influences, obstructs, or impedes, or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede, the due administration of justice, shall be (guilty of an offense)." Persons are charged under this statute based on allegations that a defendant intended to intefere with an official proceeding, by doing things such as destroying evidence, or intefering with the duties of jurors or court officers.

Unless of course it is the President of the United States...
[the Constitution's Article II]

“[The] President cannot obstruct justice because he is the chief law enforcement officer under [the Constitution's Article II] and has every right to express his view of any case."
