Dorsey on his list of priorties sure doesnt hold the LT in the highest regard.
I don't think that is a fair representation of Dorsey's priorities. Joe T's status was up in the air for quite awhile, and upon Joe's retirement, he tried to sign Solder who might have been the highest paid LT in FA? They signed Donaldson (who flaked- that should be on Dorsey, though). It's not like he didn't try, IMO.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Bitonio, Corbett, Tretter, Zeitler, Hubbard seems to be pretty solid. Coleman, Drango, Reiter, and whoever else makes the team are pretty good backups. It's never bad to have backups who have had starting experience.

yeah, Mayfield definitely has some traction right now
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
in terms of Tyrod ... I hope he isn't holding the ball too long (that was an issue in Buffalo).
I'm going to camp next week, so I'll see

Maybe the move was made more because of how well Corbett is playing. We have been saying our 5 best are going to start. Corbett is clearly a guard...he is a mauler. This is good news.
Plus, I am pretty sure that Joel can play LT better than Coleman.
On Baker...
Everything i read is the kid is looking like a champ. I saw a report from Sal Palantonio saying Baker looks every bit a top quality QB and should start day 1.
I am not going to go there, but his playing like this tells me he is way better than 2nd teamers...and that is how it should be. When you are good you should be shredding it...and he is.
I also see one other thing...he is showing the ability to make those around him better. The word is Higgins is looking like a all-pro receiver. He and Baker are lighting it up.
I know Hue has said that TT is the starter, and I don't disagree as long as it isn't a predetermined conclusion. If Mayfield continues to play as well as I am reading, I think it incumbent upon the staff to give him some reps with the first team at some point this pre-season.
There is a long way to go and I am sure he will have his bad days, but things are looking up folks. Things are looking up.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
J/J .... I wonder if these coaches ever get together and say something like "I want to see how my rookie QB handles an all out blitz. Can you throw 1 or 2 of them at him when he's in?" .... and then act surprised when it happens. lol A lot of these guys worked with a lot of other coaches. I bet it happens sometimes.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Give us a report back on the visit. I always like and appreciate those.

I am pretty excited about the O-line and what should be a good ground game. We have some nasty guys up there. We should be able to create some holes for the backs.

People are putting way too much stock into TC reports. Playing in a game is a completely different animal.
I'm not judging either way, but I think we've all heard glowing reports about other players in the past.
Think back to one Brandon Weeden. Each year we were told how good he looked in TC. Getting rid of the ball quickly. Making great decisions. Huge arm. Accurate. Reading defenses.
He even showed some of those things in preseason games.
Then, the real games began.
It's much, much too early for "fans" to be telling the coach who to play and when to play them.
Think back to last year, when guys like Swish were saying over and over again how we had to star Kizer. I think it would be best to allow the coaching staff to make personnel decisions.

Hard Knock Life: Browns camp – day 7 news and notes Right guard Kevin Zeitler to miss a few weeks with calf injury
DARYL RUITER AUGUST 02, 2018 - 7:27 PM Browns right guard Kevin Zeitler walks off the field on Aug. 1 after suffering a calf injury during a training camp practice. Daryl Ruiter-92.3 The Fan
CATEGORIES: NFL Browns Berea, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns’ offensive line took another hit Thursday with the news that right guard Kevin Zeitler will miss time.
Head coach Hue Jackson acknowledged following Thursday’s practice that Zeitler won’t be returning any time soon.
“He is going to be OK, but he is going to be down for a little while,” Jackson said. “It is a calf. It is unfortunate, but we will get him back. We will be back and ready to go hopefully in the next couple of weeks or so. Those things do happen in training camp.”
Zeitler, who walked off the field with a trainer under his own power, left Wednesday’s practice early with the injury and was not on the field Thursday, which was an ominous sign.
Spencer Drango has taken over at right guard in his place meaning that in the last two days three of the starting offensive line positions have seen a change.
Joel Bitonio has taken over at left tackle for Shon Coleman, who is now splitting second- and third-team reps, and rookie Austin Corbett has replaced Bitonio at left guard.
Bed time – It didn’t take long for Jabrill Peppers, a Michigan alum, to become a big fan of Denzel Ward, the No. 4 pick in the draft out of Ohio State.
“Denzel is a cool guy, man. Ready to work. Came in a little quiet, opened up a little but he didn’t have to talk much for us to know what he was capable of,” Peppers said in an interview with Bull and Fox on 92.3 The Fan Thursday. “He came right out locking guys up. I tell the receivers he put blankets on them so ask him what bed time story you want him to read to you.”
Peppers, who is expected to make an impact in his second season with a move from free safety to strong safety this year is excited about having Ward in the secondary.
“Once he puts on a little bit more weight, he’s going to be scary,” Peppers said. “He’s scary now but in this league to definitely be as healthy as possible you have to definitely maintain your body and learn your best playing weight. There’s a lot of things to playing at this level. You can’t just go out there and be the best guy on the field anymore.”
Catch of the day – Jarvis Landry made the catch of the day – if not camp – during an 11-on 11 series Thursday.
Landry reached out with one hand and hauled in a fade throw from quarterback Tyrod Taylor, much to chagrin of cornerback EJ Gaines, who had tight coverage on the play.
Not only did Landry make the one-handed grab but he managed to get both feet in as he fell out of the back corner of the end zone.
Taylor and Landry hooked up for another TD later in practice during an end of half situation – a third-and-9 with 00:07 on the clock.
D dominates – The defense got the best of the offense in the goal line run drill Thursday.
Carlos Hyde got the closest to the goal line – twice – once just shy of the end zone and the second stop came at the one.
“Dominated by the defense. Dominated by the defense. They whopped them. That is just what it is,” Jackson said. “If I am the offense, I am mad, I am going to go back and the next time that we have that period, I am going to come back and show that we are there.”
Welcome back – Receiver Jeff Janis and left tackle Greg Robinson returned to practice Thursday.
Janis has recovered from a knee injury while Robinson cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Puppy pound counter – The Browns are up to 69 adopted puppies after 8 more were adopted from the Northeast Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Thursday. Since the program was launched in 2015, 292 puppies have found homes.
Injury report – LB Genard Avery (groin), LB Justin Currie (concussion), TE Seth DeValve (quad), DL Daniel Ekuale (calf), WR Jeff Janis (knee), DL Lenny Jones (concussion), OL Kevin Zeitler (calf) and OL Desmond Harrison (toe-PUP) did not practice Thursday.
DL Trevon Coley left practice with an ankle injury.
I know Hue has said that TT is the starter, and I don't disagree as long as it isn't a predetermined conclusion. If Mayfield continues to play as well as I am reading, I think it incumbent upon the staff to give him some reps with the first team at some point this pre-season.
People are putting way too much stock into TC reports. Playing in a game is a completely different animal.
Just a reminder...Reports have been very good about Taylor as well. He didn't have his best practice today with the two picks (one of them was a tipped pass) but for the most part he has been accurate as well.
I remember I used to say that if a QB is struggling in TC, he stinks. LOL
If you have ever been to TC, you will notice that the rushers can't hit the qb. You will notice that most of the time, the defense can't slam the receivers as they catch the ball. You will notice there isn't much disguising of coverages.
That is not me saying that as a negative on either guy. It's just that they should look good. Things are stacked in their favor.
My ears only perk up when I hear negative things about a qb in TC. Like last year and the situation w/Kessler. I knew he was toast. It's hard for a qb to fail in TC.
Cleveland Browns Training Camp Recap: Day 7 - Defense Wins the Day A snapshot of what happened at Browns training camp on Thursday. By Chris Pokorny@DawgsByNature Aug 2, 2018, 7:33pm EDT SHARE
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports The Cleveland Browns had another practice session on Thursday for Day 6 of training camp, on the heels of their Orange & Brown Scrimmage on Friday. Our full practice report summary is below.
Cleveland Browns Training Camp Report - Day 7 (8/2/18) 1. Offensive Line Updates: The offensive line position is suddenly the unit that has a big microscope on it, now that Joel Bitonio is working as the team’s first-string left tackle. His role there continued on Thursday, but there was some other news related to the offensive line:
Center J.C. Tretter did not practice, but it was simply due to having a veteran’s day off. Right guard Kevin Zeitler did not practice; he left Wednesday’s practice with a calf injury and will be out awhile. Spencer Drango remained in his spot. Veteran tackle Greg Robinson returned to practice after having suffered a concussion last week. He was the third-team left tackle, while Shon Coleman was the second-team left tackle. Per Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram, the replacements for Tretter and Zeitler had a rough day:
Scott Petrak ct @ScottPetrak #Browns O-line without RG Kevin Zeitler (calf), C JC Tretter (day off) getting dominated today. The absences affecting all 3 units. But Joel Bitonio seems to be holding own at LT.

No disagreement here. That is why I said I wasn't going with the comment about Baker needing to start.
I do get it that the press wants to create a stir to sell papers or find more viewers/listeners.
I am just glad to see Baker standing well above the 2nd teamers and helping other around him look good.
I fully expect that TT will start the season and do well.
That said, if Baker is clearly head and shoulders above the competition he is facing, smart coaches will bring him "up" to face better competition. That is how they do it in baseball. Do well at one level, they move you up to see how you do there.
Seems fair to me, and I am not saying Hue isn't being fair or isn't smart. We are 5-6 days in to this. He is being very smart by protecting the kid at this point.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Yeah, I've been to my share. The QBs don't feel any stress when the rushers just run pass them. They know they won't be touched so they play like it. As for disguising coverage, I don't know how much Williams does. I know he isn't shy about throwing in multiple blitz packages in camp.
Hue Jackson: "The better for the long-term is obvious, it’s Baker. But we signed Tyrod for a reason too" Tyrod has been a tremendous worker, leader. Baker needs growth and to learn from Taylor
I just hope it plays out naturally and the fans and media don't turn this into a circus.
I think the Browns will ignore the media and the fans and stick with the plan. IMO, Dorsey won't let that happen, he won't allow the media or Joe Smo at the gas station to dictate the narrative.
Unless Haslam gets impatient, that is... I don't know for sure but I think Jimmy has finally figured out that he doesn't know football like he knows truck stops.
Hope you're right, bro. But, you are probably aware that there are a lot of sharks in the water that are just hoping to devour Hue.
There are. I could be one of them, but it is a new season, so he is the coach and the past doesn't matter to me unless the current reflects the past.
As for Haslam, I think he/she are more hands off then people think. I think that keeping Hue this year proves that....I mean come on....they have shown growth. Chud and Pettine got canned with far better results.
Players grown in to the position. Coaches grow in to the position, so why not a owner? Most owners, minus a rare few aren't people who played or coached football. They made their fortune elsewhere.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
Browns right guard Kevin Zeitler will miss time with a calf injury Updated 6:39 PM; Posted 6:38 PM
By Dan Labbe, cleveland.com dlabbe@cleveland.com BEREA, Ohio -- The Browns are trying to find some stability on their offensive line but, so far, it has been a difficult proposition. Now they will be without starting right guard Kevin Zeitler "for a little while," according to head coach Hue Jackson.
Zeitler left Wednesday's practice with a calf injury and did not practice on Thursday.
"It is unfortunate, but we will get him back," Jackson said. "We will be back and ready to go hopefully in the next couple of weeks or so. Those things do happen in training camp."
Zeitler, signed to what was then the richest contract ever given to a guard in 2017, played all 16 games for the Browns last season and hasn't missed a game since 2014. He played part of last season with a broken thumb.
The injury occurred on the same day that left guard Joel Bitonio was moved to left tackle. Rookie Austin Corbett moved into Bitonio's vacated left guard role. Meanwhile, the Browns are also breaking in a new right tackle in Chris Hubbard, signed this offseason.
Spencer Drango has been taking first team reps in Zeitler's place.
The Browns did get an offensive lineman back on Thursday when tackle Greg Robinson returned. Robinson had been in the concussion protocol and was one of the players expected to compete at left tackle.
On this edition of Browns Countdown, we take an in-depth look at each position on the Cleveland Browns. They also discuss Tyrod Taylor’s leadership, Baker Mayfield’s improvements, Jarvis Landry’s impressive training camp and Joel Bitonio moving to left tackle.
Mayfield-to-Higgins has been one of the biggest highlights of camp, and Thursday was no different. At the end of Baker Mayfield's second shot a the two-minute drill (he got extra reps because Drew Stanton had a veteran day of rest), he fired a 37-yard touchdown pass to Rashard Higgins down the left side, where he got behind Briean Boddy-Calhoun and Denzel Rice. The Mayfield-to-Higgins highlight reel could mean good things for third-year wideout this season. But Jackson was also unhappy that Mayfield took a couple of would-be sacks in his two-minute drills. "He has to protect the ball in those situations as far as not taking sacks,'' Jackson said.
Quote:
"C'mon, if the ball gets tipped... There are a lot of different reasons for why that happened,'' said Jackson, defending Taylor. "The other one, Mitchell made an outstanding play on the ball. That's exciting for me to see. I haven't seen us pick balls off like that. Those things, we do not want to see happen, but at the same time, I get to see the defense do something that I am excited to see.
Quote:
"Dominated by the defense,'' said Jackson. "They whooped them. That's just what it is. If I'm the offense, I'm mad. I'm going to go back and the next time that we have that period, I'm going to come back and show that we are there."
A defensive highlight was strong safety Jabrill Peppers drilling rookie Nick Chubb near the goal-line for no gain and popping up to celebrate. Terrance Mitchell also dropped Carlos Hyde for a loss, and Matthew Dayes and undrafted rookie Dontrell Hilliard were also stopped cold.
Cleveland Browns left tackle Joel Bitonio battles Myles Garrett and the Browns defense during his second day at the position after being moved from left guard to replace retired Pro Bowler Joe Thomas. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018.
Just a general thought, but I'm encouraged by the early returns on Denzel Ward. We needed a potential shutdown corner in the worse way, and so far, it sounds promising for him and us.
How bittersweet would it be for JT if we somehow made it over the hump this year and found ourselves deep in the playoffs...All the time he put in, and the first year into retirement and his old team is playing in the postseason..
