They have to start somewhere, without being labeled.
I disagree.
They really should have a label, though I'd choose something slightly less pejorative than 'bandwagoners.'
I'd label them as "Noobz."
A label that's honest, descriptive- and (relatively) non-judgmental. At the bar, they'll have to earn their 'tribe bonding' opportunities.
They'll also have to keep a respectful silence when the conversation turns to stories with names like Leigh Bodden, Charlie Frye, and Kellen 'Solja' Winslow. Back when people laughed.
Those stories are for
us."Quiet, Noob- this is when pups learn what's expected of them if they root for this team/run with this pack."
I think that approach is reasonable. I really do.
Welcome them in, but hold them to standards. We did the hard work of supporting this team when everyone else was everywhere else. We should be allowed to maintain our own Ring Of Honor within the new, expanding fan base. Designations are in order here, imho.
If you ask me, I'd really enjoy slapping 5's with someone wearing a Reuben Droughns 28 jersey. I'd know for sure that (s)he was 'one of us.'
