Damn, thats pretty meth up. https://nypost.com/2018/08/04/boy-dies-after-mistaking-dads-meth-for-breakfast-cereal/A hungry Indiana child died after eating 180 times the lethal amount of methamphetamine — which he thought was a breakfast cereal, according to reports. Eight-year-old Curtis Collman III woke up early on June 21 and told his dad, Curtis Gilbert Collman II, that he wanted something to eat, the man told authorities, WDRB reported. Collman II, 41 said there was no food in the Seymour house. But there was meth, that he left on a clear glass plate, he told authorities, the outlet reported. Meth can be crystal like, or brownish in color and could have been mistaken for cereal in low light, the outlet noted. The child ate a staggering amount of the drug — 18,000 nanograms — toxicology results released this week revealed, the Seymour Tribune reported. Collman II, 41, noticed his son was feeling sick around 10 a.m. and asked a friend to come over to help check him out, according to police documents obtained by NBC-Wave3. But instead of taking the boy to a hospital like his friend suggested, Collman II allegedly ripped her cell phone away, pointed a gun at her head and screamed “I’m not going back to prison,” the Seymour Tribune reported. He allegedly threatened to shoot her, himself and the boy if she called 911, the outlet reported. The father then picked up his son and allegedly rushed to his mother’s house instead of a hospital, according to WAVE TV. When they arrived, the boy began turning blue and his grandfather eventually called authorities. The boy was taken to the Schneck Medical Center, where he later died. The dad is facing a slew of charges, including neglect that led to the death of a dependent and possession of meth, reports said. A bond reduction request was barred by a Jackson County judge Friday. He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted. A trial is set for December 4. The child’s grandparents were devastated. “We all wake up in the morning thinking about him and we go to sleep at night thinking about him,” the boy’s heartbroken grandmother, Rita Cook, told ABC-WLOX. “He was just a good little boy.” He is remembered as a fun-loving kid, who especially liked riding bicycles, riding his scooter, watching SpongeBob SquarePants and playing Minecraft, a video game. “He was a Minecraft tutorial person — he could tell you anything about Minecraft,” said Cook. “He just loved life. He never was still; he constantly moved and just never was still.” Meth is a major problem in the area, which made up for more than one-third of the county’s arrests, WLOX reported. “The meth is still our, hate to say it, drug of choice,” Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers said.

It's tragic. However, there are a ton of similar stories where the people are black. You never post those. Just keep hatin' on the white man.
A racist is a racist who tries to control the narrative against the race they despise. That is what you do. Consistently.

so anyways,
i really wonder what the best solution to the grow meth problem is. there will always be a demand for it on the streets, and law enforcement hasnt done a good job with the war on drugs to crack down on it.

OK....someone has their story all messed up here.....18000 nanograms?!?!?!
That's like .000018 of a gram.....if you had this much meth in a baggie....it would be microscopic.....if ingested, even by an 8 year old, I doubt it would have any effect whatsoever.
In order to OD on meth, it would take much more......at least a tenth of a gram.....and that is at the very least.....and the story claims the kid ate a staggering amount......almost one-hundred thousandths of a gram....for those of you who might be a bit rusty in the math area.....that is like taking a gram and dividing it into 100,000 little piles.....those little piles, couldn't even be seen with a freaking microscope....this is hardly a staggering amount. If the kid ate 18 grams...that would be a staggering amount....but the numbers that this writer is using...
either he got his numbers all messed up, he has no clue what he's talking about, or he took his own creative liberties to make the story more of a story..
Its funny that no one recognized the simple math errors in this story, and honestly, its kinda scary that anyone believes that 18000 nanograms of meth is some huge amount....its beyond insignificant....
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

probably so. either way, there was enough there that the 8 year old OD'd on it. stupid for the guy to be using meth, but beyond irresponsible to leave it out in the open.
i wish the guy would've just left his kid with the grandparents.

We have to find a way to 'dry up the market' so to speak. So long as there is a customer, there will be someone who will make the stuff and sell it. Need to convince these people there's more to life than this and they can have a future if they want it.

i agree. just wonder what the best method to accomplish that is.
the war on drugs didnt work. cant sweep through the drug dealers cause they pop up like roaches. take one off the street, two more show up.
and yea never mind the fact that drug dealers can only sell based on demand. its almost a waste of time to target the operations, cause while it provides temporary relief, its only relief in that specific area. and again, cooking meth requires a basic knowledge of chemistry, which aint much apparently.
the problem keeps getting worse and worse when it comes to this man made nonsense.

complete waste of time in rural communities that don't have city blocks to patrol. Drug use is more prevalent in suburbs and cities, because they keep it off the "streets" and move it into homes.

right. i completely failed to mention that aspect. i mean you really gotta be a trash drug pusher to get your operation busted in the rural communities.
one, you'll never run out of paying customers. and two, you have a big enough area to properly conceal your op.

First we need to find out why they're doing this. There's a certain 'rebellious glamour' to it for one. Remember how 'cool' you felt at your first party getting drunk in high school? That's where it starts for some. My guess is the main problem is that these people haven't got much hope of a future so they don't care what they do to themselves. Poverty/poor education, weak family structure, not a recipe for success. I painted for a guy back in '01, (I remember it because it was during the whole Bush/Gore recount thing). He was a toxicologist, talking with a kid that was selling himself so he could get his fix. Asked him why he did this to himself. The guy told him that his older sibling was aborted so he figured his life was a coin toss. It all starts at home.

The guy told him that his older sibling was aborted so he figured his life was a coin toss. It all starts at home. there's far too many reasons why people start using drugs, no matter what kind of drug it is. from being a loner growing up, to seeing a parent or sibling die, to just experimenting with it. so many different reasons. we gotta remember that there's a lot of people who do drugs that grew up in a high middle class community. private schools, got rides when they were 16. college paid for, etc. hell, im in school now with a bunch of kids who pop adderals all night just because it helps them focus on studying, cause to be successful in your degree path (certain ones anyway) require an insane amount of study time. there's nothing externally wrong with these kids (two parent household, good childhood), just the college atmosphere and the study hours lead them to decide to pop Addys. sometimes its as simple as that. other times, its beyond complicated. we have a ton of vets who commit suicide, something like on average 22 a day. a lot of them were hooked on drugs cause of deployments, seeing their battle buddies drop, roadside bombs, etc. other times, their parents were hooked on drugs, they grew up around it, and they couldnt escape it. then you got some crap that REALLY happens, like in the movie Taken. chicks get snatched up in human sex trafficking, drug use forced on to them to create a dependency, and/or prostitution to support the habit. i believe in most -if not all- cases, the drug is just the means to the end result for those not forced upon. its like you said, but deeper. we kinda know why people are doing this, so what are they trying to escape? or better yet...what are they trying to achieve? are people popping pills to escape reality? or are they chasing a dream? some sort of meaning? remember, ketamine and other drugs are common in native american cultures. dream walking and such, or whatever the proper term is. and then comes the question that involves serious conversation on ethics...... whats more cost effective? the eradication of drugs, or creating a drug that achieves the users end result without the physical - and often destructive - dependency on it? just putting it out there.

Are you trying to advocate for pot or acid or something? lol
People take drugs for very many reasons.
A large reason is to escape pain in their life.
Life isnt a cakewalk, and there will always be problems from time to time.
Drugs will never go away because there is always problematic life to deal with.

Maybe look into a movie called Equilibrium. Its about a dystopian future where the government forces the citizens to take a med that supresses any form of emotion or enjoy creativity such as art or literature. Christian Bale is in it. Ive never seen it, only a music video based on it. CHS's utopia where we are all the same and take our meds on time.

Maybe stricter drug laws starting with Marijuana. Are you joking? Not sure what Marijuana has to do with meth......... I haven't gotten high (on pot) in probably two years (and was an avid smoker who went down to a very occasional smoker to a not at all smoker). So i can say with a completely clean head, Marijuana and Meth are two totally different drugs in two totally different ball parks. But IMO changing marijuana drug laws would do nothing for meth. No more than changing alcohol laws at least
