How did we stumble upon two good QBs?

I tentatively like this Dorsey guy.

I liked BM pocket presence and awareness, really really liked it. Also liked seeing taking risks, but I don't think he has what it takes to run like that in the NFL in real games.

And why was he running like that, is he supposed to do it?

Didn't like his arm, for a 1st pick specially.

Or run it better. And change a game plan to something we could do. I think Hue owns a chunk; he is not alone. last night looked more like I hope we will.

Mayfield has exceptional arm talent and that's not going to change regardless of who he's facing. He has uncanny accuracy for a rookie and arm strength that some rank better than Josh Allen's. He's got excellent vision, quick feet, good pocket presence and the ability to sense the rush and escape it. All of these things were on display against the Giants.

Baker has a strong arm. Tired of seeing some peeps playing down that part of his game seemingly just because he isn’t a “big” QB.

Exciting times for sure... if he keeps improving of course.

Even if he thinks it, he does not need to be saying it in public. Respect the chain of command. There are rooms with doors that close, for conversations like that.

Good morning. My Monday column is up.

Removing a note about a Todd Haley quote from Hard Knocks Tuesday. The quote never happened. That’s my error. My apologies.

Agreed, Haley should not be saying this.

This is why I hate having Hard Knocks in Berea. Stuff like this goes public and the media will continue to probe at it.

Any chance people are trying to back track now? And Peter King is just playing along so he keeps his sources in good graces?

I'm not sure who posted it, but one poster on here repeated himself over and over again that Baker shouldn't have been the 1st pick in the draft, that he has a weak arm etc etc... All evidence to the contrary.,.. His arm looked good to me for sure.

a weird scenario here .. not sure what to believe, but it's the kind of drama that comes with having a TV show

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Rasta - it's an agenda against BM that he is driving. Same as the constant "Carr might have been right" comments he is repeating any chance he gets. It's silly. Watch the game highlights - there is nothing wrong with his arm strength.

I didn't remember who it was, but I read it the other day, like 3 or more times in one thread..Kept repeating it.

hey, I'm no QB guru, but that throw to Callaway on the sideline sure had a lot of ZIP on it.. same with the one to Njoko in the end zone and the one to Higgins and the TD to Callaway...

Like I said, not a guru, but saying he has a weak arm is simply not true..

I definitely think that Baker has a strong enough arm, but no way is it stonger than Josh Allen’s. Allen might have the strongest arm in the NFL right now.

As far as the last statement... Hue has made it clear who is in charge, as he should, we saw that last week on Hard Knocks. I much prefer that to Mike Pettine on the sideline asking Shanahan if it's okay to run the ball.

Haley may have a problem with Hue, buy Hue won't have a problem with Haley. Hue's the boss, end of story.

If this is the true case then we have a problem.

Why would he ever say that to the cameras. As someone said, respect the chain of command.

I liked the hire of Todd Haley because he can run a good offense.

But if his ego is this large and he's this stupid, then we need to move on.

If he's got a problem working for Hue, he should resign or keep his mouth shut.

And i doubt any head coach would even look his way afterwards.

I have conversations with bosses that are made in private that i don't share with employees that i might manage, etc. I share my opinion, and they can do what they want with it. But I never, ever, undercut someone. That's unprofessional.

Well, it could also be a case of reading waaay too much into a single statement sound byte. Put yourself in Haley's shoes... cameras in your face all day and people constantly asking about the chances of Baker starting. That single statement (that may even be taken out of context, or snipped from a longer foray) may just be his way of saying "leave me alone guys - you want to know why Baker is the backup - go talk to the coach!".

I don't see any reason to even speculate until this becomes a string of statements that we actually know are Haley undermining Hue.

I would be in Hue's corner, too.........but in all fairness to Haley, I am guessing he never said it.

I will say this and the Hue/Haley exchange from last week is why I didn't want the Browns to be on Hard Knocks. While it is cool that we get to see more of the team, this team [coming off so much losing] does not need more drama and scrutiny.

I agree. I would never be good with cameras in all rooms but the restrooms.....I assume they aren't there.

Someone said cameras are there when players are cut.....it wouldn't happen if I was there.

The whole thing started from this tweet:

https://twitter.com/ProFootballTalk/status/1027726039643025408

I remember seeing that tweet during the game on Thursday. It was very obviously a joke, nobody in the world took it otherwise, but apparently for Peter King who didn't know it was a joke a reported it as fact. He has since tweeted:

"Yeah, well, that’s my fault. It was used the other day @ProFootballTalk as a joke, and I’m the only one who didn’t get the joke."

So Haley didn't say it into a camera?

Doesn't surprise me. Does anyone with three clues think a new OC would undermine his HC - and the starting QB - with something like that unless it was in jest? Even then.....

You brought up a great point when you mentioned Taylor. I was just thinking of Haley not undermining his HC, but that would not be a cool thing to say considering Taylor is the starter.

A QB controversy is one of the very last things this team needs. Or, any team...for that matter.

Nice Jack Nicholson reference!

Btw I edited/deleted my post because I was not sure if that report cited Haley saying it into an HBO camera (if he said it at all). I'm glad we won't have Hard Knocks around for another 10 years.

If he said it, I think it will air. I don't think the team can tell HBO what they can show or not. Hell, both Hue and Dorsey wanted no part of Hard Knocks. I don't think other teams do, either.

Too much dirty laundry and chances to be unfairly scrutinized. The scenes w/the guys getting cut each year our tough. Which team wants to show that?

So again.............I don't think Haley actually said it. I believe King when he said the quote never happened.

I agree. And even though every other team since 2000 or so that has appeared on Hard Knocks has had multiple scenes of players getting cut, peen [and maybe a couple of others] will use it as evidence of how bad Hue sucks.

Hue had indicated, at the beginning, that hard Knocks pretty much had free access to everything.

That's just the way the show operates.

No, not just Hue. Any other coach who has done it as well. And suck isn't even the word. Disappointed might be the word. I just know I would find a way to get it done off camera. Off campus so to speak and go rent a hotel room somewhere. I am not going to jump on Hue because as you said, he may not have a choice because all the rooms are under camera and mic.

I suppose there would be nothing you could do about seeing guys clear their lockers.

I would go on record on the camera in a team meeting so HBO and the NFL know exactly what is going on.. I would ask the guys if they wanted to be cut on camera. If the team didn't want that, I would tell them that cuts are going to be done on a off day, off site. You will be notified where to go.

But that is just how I would do it.
