Maybe that's why Gordon makes 750k and Landry makes 15 mil.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Last night was the first time I heard people say "When not IF" when talking about Gordons return, so the staff is pretty confident he is coming back. Interesting.

That's a safe bet.. He just has to stay clean... (and catch everything thrown his way) Of the two, the second would be easier I think LOL

I had the thought last night that it isn't Hard Knocks that Gordon is waiting to end, it is the sessions open to the public and the circus that comes with that.

Only five more practices open to the public..... I would not be surprised if he returns a day or two after that.

Can't wait when he comes back and our pending next "JG drama situation" arises for us to deal with. Super duper... it'll be just fantastic.

That would make great sense as a consideration when planning his return.

that's the problem. Even if he's here, it's always like waiting for the other shoe to drop

The last practice open to the public is this Wednesday.
I won't be surprised if we see Gordon with the team vs. Buffalo on Friday. I admit that I will be slightly surprised if we don't.

Was thinking the same thing...

Earning the stripe does what?

Signify you made the team? If so, incremental cuts will be kind of obvious, no?

If it doesn't signify making the team, can a player lose his stripe then?

Kind of meaningless act in my humble opinion.

Coach Hue Jackson declared that none of the players will get the iconic stripes on the plain orange helmet until they officially make the team. It’s a motivational ploy designed to foster competition and battle entitlement.

“Earn it,” Jackson said after Tuesday’s practice. “There is a certain way that the Cleveland Browns have to play, and we are going to earn our stripes. The guys that put them on their helmets and get the chance to wear them, it is going to be because they demonstrate the characteristics that we are looking for in Cleveland Browns players. That is the way that they are going to play, that is how we are going to conduct ourselves and go out and win football games.”

Don't come back until after final cuts. Some of these folks are looking good! And full-time players can be attractive. Not sure when . . . . Hope we have a spot left.

I think the uniform should be the uniform. The "earn your stripes" meme is an attempt to mythologize something that never had any mythology. Its a helmet stripe that is part of our uniform, and has been a part of our uniform for decades. This reminds me of people who spend a buck for a certain color rubber band to wear on their wrist so they can feel like they did something to help eradicate the disease that the color of the wristband symbolizes, even though they did nothing of the sort. Its nonsense; feel-good nothingness.

I think if it motivates just one person, more that likely someone who is really pushing to make the team... i think it's worth it.

I like the all orange, but thought that all orange with a small, thin, brown and white stripe around the bast of the helmet, building up into a slightly wider (though not too wide) band around the back of the helmet might be cool.

I haven’t read through the in house fighting on the board, but I assume 33% still wanted to cut Josh, even when he needed a reprieve before the season? Your lack of faith is disturbing.

You can’t revel in a Josh Gordon touchdown and speak differently on these boards. You are either in or out, faith doesn’t require that much, just that.

Don’t be left behind on this one.

That is your opinion. I am defending a member of the Browns. You are trying to belittle him..........repeatedly.

What I said is tame compared to what some of the guys who are defending Josh and Baker have said. You just don't like my message........big deal. I don't like yours either.

Every coach has a dumb slogan. Only Brown's fans choose to make it into something it isn't. Think about this for a moment.

This is a Josh Gordon thread. Somehow the color orange comes up. People talk about the helmets w/out the stripe either looking good or bad. That turns into someone bringing up the slogan about earning your stripes and the haters hate. LOL....they're unreal. rofl

It's like the Hard Knocks thread. There are many story lines. Most are just reporting what they saw. One guy starts a campaign to bash Hue because the abrasive Haley gave a look that was ignored by G. Williams. The thread turns into a "bash Hue" thread and make fun of those who support him.

In the same episode of Hard Knocks, Hue has to deal w/the loss of his brother and mother. He gets the news of his mother's passing, cries, and one hour later is back on the football field vigorously coaching his team.

Accolades? No. Respect? No. Compassion? No.

Instead we get talk of how he is "weak" and "fake" and some of our fans are concentrating on a "look" that Todd Haley gave. Yeah, the same guy who is well-known for his bar fights and abrasive personality.

You really gotta love Hue's Hate Club. Or not.

I really like Hue Jackson and I am glad that the FO did not do the knee jerk reaction and get rid of him because of the 0-16 and 1-31 record as Browns coach. Why? Because anyone that knows the game of Football knows the talent level 2 years ago was an absolute joke. Worst talent level since the 1999 season. It was a complete reset plain and simple. Then last year more vets were let go in favor of young talent. Young talent has to learn how to win. I have no issue with bringing in as much young talent as possible but only vets can teach them how to win.

I am impressed with Hue as a person as much as any coach we have had. I thunk this season is the first season he has had enough talent to evaluate his coaching ability.

I am looking for certain things.

How prepared to play does he get his team? I think the Browns were as prepared and focused as a team could be for a preseason game the other night. I want to see a team fired up and prepared week in and week out throughout the season.

How disciplined is the team? I liked the fire but the 2 15 yard penalties early just cannot happen in the regular season. He needs to clean this up for the regular season.

Coaching decisions during the game? Here is a spot I am really interested in. I think he has work to do in this area although, the last 2 years he may have pressed the right buttons but his players just could not execute.

Those are the things that I will be watching in 2018 in regards to Hue.

I'm no Hue hater by any stretch. But I think the entire stripe thing is a gimmick that works more for the cameras than it does for the players. I'm not saying it's stupid because trying anything to improve the team is worth a try. But having a job and getting paid heading into the season is their motivation. Money is a motivator. A strip on your helmet? Not so much.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I am NOT saying it's a great idea. I just think it's absurd to keep criticizing because all teams do similar corny things.
