And just seeing tonight that as part of Cohens deal, he has made it clear that he is willing to sit down with Muellers team and spill the beans on what he knows about Trump...What he knows about the DNC hack, the meeting at Trump tower, if there was any coordination between the campaign and Moscow.

His campaign mgr was found guilty.
His fixer flipped.
His EPA chief resigned under suspicion.
His national security adviser plead guilty.
His staff secretary beat his wife.
His minority liaison secretly taped him.
His campaign adviser plead guilty.

Trump gets the best people.

Wasn't Cohen flipped over the NY DA? Maybe some stronger legal minds can assist me, if Mueller had something on Cohen that implicated Trump, why would Mueller not proceed with it, rather than hand it off. Honest question, not deflecting....doesn't make sense.

All this is true and flies in the face of the argument that Trump was a savvy business man who would right all the wrongs in our government.

However - it misses the very important point that Trump has now been named as a co-conspirator in illegally trying to influence the election.

I'm waiting for the unhinged Trump response. So far I haven't seen it which means that maybe even Trump realizes how serious this is.

I'm not shocked to see Cohen flip but he virtually named Trump with this comment...."pleads guilty to illegal campaign contributions 'at the direction of a candidate for federal office'"...

So what happens next..get ready and don't be shocked at what Trump does to change the subject. Who will Trump use to improve his present status?

...will Trump use our military putting our men and women in harms way "unnecessary"?

...will Trump misuse his power in an attempt to obstruct the Mueller investigation?

The best and most important part of the entire investigation, IMO, did Trump collude with the Russians?

We are living in historic times...

I've scanned through the 22 page document (assuming this is the actual) and nowhere does it implicate Trump in criminal activity. It references INDIVIDUAL 1 I think twice... both times it was in reference to the person running for office. It mentions COMPANY 1, EDITOR 1, CHAIRMAN 1 in regards to organizing the payoffs, but not INDIVIDUAL 1. If he did it at Trump's direction, then Trump would have been referenced within the group who coordinated it.

Company 1 is Trump organization, Chairman 1 would be????

From what this is saying, everything was directed by the cohen and chairman one to pay the money - not trump. Maybe this is why Mueller handed it off to the NY DA?

Page 15 : the money came from a fraudulently obtain HELOC according to the documents if try, not the campaign. Seems that why it may have been handed off from Mueller.

Quote:
The next day, on October 26th, 2016, Michael Cohen, the defendant, emailed an incorporating service to obtain the corporate formation documents for another shell corporation, Essential Consultants LLC, which Cohen had incorporated a few days prior. Later that afternoon, COHEN drew down $131,000 from the fraudulently obtained HELOC,discussed above in paragraphs 19 through 21, and requested that it be deposited into a bank account CHOEN had just opened in the name of Essential Consultants.

Two of the state charges relates to trump, he other’s is all Cohen. Even then, I agree with you that’s why mueller handed this off because it’s not in his scope of investigation.

The problem with states charges? Can’t get a pardon for that. Not from the president, anyway.

Also, please remember that cohens lawyer already stated he’s willing to sit down with mueller and talk.

Don’t think for a second this saga ends here.

I know INDIVIDUAL 1 is Trump.

What I'm saying is that the document DOESN'T say INDIVIDUAL 1 is involved with the alleged illegal activity. It says Cohen coordinated with campaign, chairman, company, editor, etc but it doesn't say he coordinated with or on the direction of INDIVIDUAL 1.

What matters is the language in the charging document, not media statements or pundit commentary.

Wouldn't CHAIRMAN 1 be Trump as well, since he was Trump Org chairman at that time?

I decided to go ahead and speed read the document. I was wrong, Chairman 1 is David Pecker:

Quote:
26. At all time relevant to this information, Corporation-1 was a media company that owns, among other things, a popular tabloid magazine ("Magazine-1").
27. In or about August 2015, the chairman and chief executive of Corporation-1 ("Chairman-1"), in coordination with MICHAEL COHEN, the defendant and one or more members of the campaign, offered to help deal with negative stories about Individual-1's relationships with women by, among other things, assisting the campaign in identifying such stories so they could be purchased and their publication avoided. Chairman-1 agreed to keep COHEN apprised of any such negative stories.

As to devil's claim that INDIVIDUAL-1 is only mentioned tangentially, that is absolutely correct. If Cohen decides to keep his mouth shut, the only evidence they can tag is on Cohen. IF however Cohen has evidence that can demonstrate INDIVIDUAL-1 approved of the transaction, he could probably convince prosecutors to lower his sentence in exchange for cooperating testimony and evidence. So yes, this charge has nothing to do with the President. Whether Cohen decides to change that reality lies with him.

This is all typical of RICO style investigations, where you pressure the lower level people into seeing what they can give you on people higher up the chain of command.

What you are saying is jr is number 2. I think I’ll call jr. the little deuce from now on.

If Cohen is going to flip, then he'll have to have evidence that can be verified. It won't be enough for him to simply claim that he and Trump had private conversations about it. That could easily be considered hearsay and wouldn't be admissable.

He’s already flipped bro. those payoffs that trump directed Cohen to make has a verified paper trail. It’s irrefutable.

Admission of guilt is one of the exceptions therein, so it is possible. That is also circumstancial so hard evidence is preferred.

Cohen does not want a pardon and will be willing to talk

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/michael-cohen-...ication-brknews

Michael Cohen has information ‘of interest’ to Robert Mueller, would not accept Trump pardon, lawyer says originally appeared on goodmorningamerica.com

A lawyer representing Michael Cohen, the former longtime fixer and personal attorney for Donald Trump, says his client has information that would be “of interest” to special counsel Robert Mueller and that he would not accept any pardon from the president.

“I can tell you it's my observation that what he knows, that he witnessed, will be of interest to the special counsel,” Cohen’s lawyer, Lanny Davis, told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos Wednesday on “Good Morning America.”

Cohen pleaded guilty Tuesday to eight counts that included campaign finance violations spawned from hush money agreements with two women, Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, who claim to have had affairs with Trump, which he has denied. Speaking to a packed federal courthouse in Manhattan, Cohen said he made those payments "in coordination and at the direction of a candidate for federal office," referring to then-candidate Donald Trump.

On “Good Morning America,” Davis accused Trump of committing “a criminal act that corrupted our democracy” in directing Cohen to make those payments and said Cohen would not accept a pardon from President Trump, if offered one.

“Michael Cohen was directed … to do a criminal act,” Davis said on “Good Morning America,” adding, “It was not done by Donald Trump because he had affairs with two women, he did not want the news of those affairs to come out in the last two weeks of the campaign. That is a crime.”

In addition to the campaign finance violations, Cohen pleaded guilty to a slew of bank fraud and tax evasion charges related to his personal business dealings.

Shortly after Cohen's guilty plea, the president's attorney, Rudy Giuliani, maintained that Trump is not at fault, adding, "There is no allegation of any wrongdoing against the president in the government's charges against Mr. Cohen."

"It is clear that, as the prosecutor noted, Mr. Cohen's actions reflect a pattern of lies and dishonesty over a significant period of time,” Giuliani said.

On "Good Morning America," Davis said Cohen “will tell the truth to everybody who asks him about Mr. Trump,” though it was unclear whether Cohen has agreed to meet with federal investigators.

Cohen's stunning admission marked the end of a monthslong investigation into his personal business practices, the genesis of which can be tied back to Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 campaign. Mueller referred the case to New York's Southern District to investigate.

Cohen served as Trump's fixer and trusted confidant for years, solving the real estate tycoon's legal troubles and once famously boasting that he would "take a bullet" for the president. A gratified patron, Trump praised his personal attorney as a "fine person with a wonderful family."

But as Cohen's legal exposure developed, their relationship soured and arrived at a breaking point last month when Cohen told ABC News that he was prepared to "put family and country first," a suggestion that rocked the White House as speculation of Cohen's flipping on the president reached a fever pitch.

At a campaign rally in West Virginia on Tuesday night, the president made no mention of Cohen's guilty plea.

Cohen, who now faces the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence and substantial monetary forfeiture, is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 12.

Cohen just verified what they all knew. The president directed him to break the law. Impeachment suggestions are starting to build on Capitol Hill. Enjoy!

It is sad that Republicans will never step up to treat one of their own the way they would treat someone from the other party. But same goes for the Dems.

This thread strangely devoid of the usual Trump cheerleaders.

I know Fox has been silent on this topic - so I guess the stooges are waiting for their lines to be delivered before they pitch in.

Hilarious.

j/c I wonder what the fallout of Trump commuting sentences versus outright pardoning would be? It's the kind of thing that can be controversial for a President to do, but doesn't carry the fallout of a full pardon. These guys are old enough and wealthy enough that it's not like being a Federal Felon will keep them from getting a job anywhere.

At this point the optics would be terrible and send the message that anyone that protects Trump, will be protected by Trump. I believe it would be direct interference in the Mueller investigation but I have no clue of any actual legal ramifications.

Similar rhetoric was uttered in the fall of 72 and during 73 as well. And to this point in time, you are absolutely right. Time however has a way of revealing things people sometimes would prefer not to reveal... and that may force hands in the GOP.

Same result with a Socialist (Democrat)-led Congress. Would they be deplorable?

And by the way, being coined "deplorable" from a Socialist is a complement, so keep it coming comrade.
