On the cusp of the Cleveland Browns 2018 opening day game vs. the Pittsburg Steelers, The all important Home Stiller Game, still hours before kickoff.
Checklist!

New Owner? Ownership is the same, Thank God and the Haslems' The NFL and Cleveland Browns football are alive and well/kicking!

New General Manager, ( I forget, somebody'd have to remind me he's been around 1 or more years) Unknown check.

New Head Coach, Head Coach is back, ready to hit the ground running, "continuity" Best of luck. No check!

New Offensive coordinator. Check! In probably the most accepted positive move, Haley coming in is going to help both the HC, and the offense most agree.

New Defensive coordinator, Not Check! probably also an accepted positive, not changing is going to bring good things.

New Quarterback? Check, check check. Check times 3, everyone from the 17 Browns are out, everybody's new. Clean Slate, all positive outlooks.

New runningback? Check times 2! Crowell is out, Carlos Hyde and Chubb in, Duke is back, looking for big things.

New Wide receivers! Mixed.
Landry is new, Check, Gordon is returning, Higgans is returning, Callaway would be new, Check!

New tight end? Not check, Though Fells and Orsen Charles are new, Njoku and DeValve are probably going to play large enough of a role for me to say we have returning Browns. ( This team might actually have some weapons, )

New left tackle. Check!
New left guard? Not check,
New center? are you kidding? Not check!
New right guard? again, are you kidding? Not check!
New right tackle? Check! but he's an experienced vet,
the whole group, could be solid potential.

Defense!
New Nose tackle? Check 2, Dave and ?, Not check 2! Ogunjobi and Coley.

New Defensive ends, Not check 2, Ogbah and Garrett, Check for anybody else, Thomas and friends.

New linebackers? New linebackers? NO all the linebackers are coming back, hooray.

New Safetys? Not check, times 2.5, Peppers and Kindred are back, and BBC is returning but changing position.
And Randall is New so, Check times 1.5

New Cornerbacks? Check, Check, Check, and Check.

The punter and kicker are returning.

The 2018 opening day checklist, from the 2017 Browns offseason, best I could remember, so, tell me where I'm wrong, hope for the best.

I'll say this: Dorsey did a very good job of trying to fill holes and give us an injection of talent.

whether or not that means WINS, we'll see

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I have only one regret with what Dorsey has done, and that was trading away Danny Shelton to the Patriots.

Shelton was a 6'2 345 lb Defensive Tackle that has a 30 inch vertical leap and ran the 3 cone drill in 7.99 seconds.

Shelton is about the closest thing to a Vince Wilfork as your going to get in the moden NFL, a big block eater that forces lines to dedicate 2-3 guys to move him out of the middle, and allows your LB to roam free on the back side.

I don't think folks realize that Shelton is the piece NE has been missing since Wilfork retired, and we literally just handed him over. Shelton was a BIG part in our 7th ranked Run Defense last year. Guys as big and powerful as he is with the quickness and athletic ability he had are pretty rare today.

I think our Run D suffers this year because of this loss. It was a big mistake getting rid of him. You literally could not run up the gut when he was on the field unless you used both a guard and the center to block him leavng other lineman 1v1 and leaving the MLB mostly unblocked...foolish foolish move on Dorsey part getting rid of Shelton. Especailly with the RB and running teams inside our division.

Other than that, im happy with Dorsey moves...but i really wish we could take the Shleton trade back...he will be aces for the Patriots this year.

As I understand it, the issue with Shelton is that he isn't the sort that will penetrate and pressure the QB.
He fits what the Pats do, he doesn't quite fit what we're trying to do.

Browns is the Browns

... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

This seems like the best place for this post. League rules only allow us to dress 46 players. We must have 7 inactive every week. Here's my best guess on those 7:

Tavierre Thomas CB
E. J Gaines, CB
James Burgess, LB
Ofeadi Ondenigbo, DE
Derrick Willies, WR
Seth Devalve, TE
Drew Stanton, QB

I bet Stanton is active, just a guess

And isn't/wasn't Caleb Brantley the quintessential penetrate and pressure the Qb, type player you're talking about?

Somethings got to give.

Either way, it's water under the bridge.

"Ifeadi" Odenigbo ought to be active, I'd think for the role he'd have.
If not, who's your 4th outside pass rusher?
Garrett,
Thomas,
Ogbah, and ?

Rattley, Zeller, Corbett, Stanton, Gaines, Burgess and Odenigbo.

Avery, subpackage pass rusher?
