Watching this offense and remembering last years. I am quite pleased with Todd Haley.

Hmmmm.... Last week we ran a gadget play and Baker caught a TD pass. People loved it!

This week? The gadget play didn't work and people suddenly say they never work. Hmmmmm.....

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Haley needs to remember he has a rookie QB and he's got 3 very good backs he should be giving the majority of the workload to.. I am not impressed with Haley

And it's not a gadget play.

Truly I can't remember when offensive coordinators were not second guessed.

I remember when Bruce Arians was our OC. Every week he was dragged through the coals.

When it works everybody is happy. When it doesn't everybody has the play that should have called.

In the end if everybody does his job the play works.

I want to hear the conversation Haley has with Calloway. I'm sure it includes some strongly worded views on "focus".

Agree.

He is a young player who missed last year.

When you watch his college tape. He makes great catches and drops easy ones.

He needs to work extra hard on watching the ball into his hands.

Nothing but reps and experience will correct it.

People better get used to a lot of plays they aren't used to seeing, because Haley has mixed in a lot of college plays into the offense for Baker.

I hadn't read all the comments, but even with the loss, I am encouraged. I think Haley is a good coach and am excited with what Baker has done in a game and a half. That included the questionable decision to ban him from taking any #1 reps when it had to be clear to anyone who knows football he was playing the best.

No, I wasn't there, but I can think and can add things up.....Baker is far better than TT. That just didn't happen last week. It probably became clear to the coaches in early August. Exchanges and reps in August may have prevented a bad exchange between the center and QB on Sunday.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Just a feeling it seems we are throwing more than running ... Hue loves throwing while Haley would rather run more just a thought ...

This isn't a direct reply to your post. But, since you mentioned Calloway I get the feeling that he's just about to break out any game now he's gonna really get over the top on some secondary and the QB is gonna hit him in stride. I feel like Calloway is just getting dialed in right now.

And if i'm Haley I work my tail off designing offense to get him touches...the kid is dynamic.

It has been shown more than once on here that this notion that "Hue loves to throw" is complete bunk.

He has just as much a demonstrated history of running it a lot as he does passing it a lot.

Not the last two years here ... and i could care less .. I want hue to get the entire year ..

The last two years ... please Purp ... I could care less what he did in Cinci or anywhere else ...
every situations different ....

He had 13 qbs play for Him in year one including a rookie that got what .. 5or 6 starts ... then last year he had Kizer ...u should protect your rookie qb not put the bulk of the O on them ... even if we couldn’t run it ... we had to try and even AFTER HUE SAID WE WOULD RUN IT MORE ... that seemed to me to be code for ... AIR IT OUT ... “L”

Neither year did he run it near enough ... NOT EVEN CLOSE ...

The tendency to run or pass is the situation.

With Kizer, I honestly think that there were two things in play there as part of that situation:
1. I think he was giving Kizer every opportunity to "get it", which he just never did and still hasn't.
2. I think he wanted the FO (ownership) to see that Sashi's QB choice was garbage and we NEEDED a real QB, which helps explain the attempt to trade for McCarron. I'm betting there was quite a bit of behind-the-scenes squabbling over whether or not Kizer was a QB and I think that is a big part of what led to Sashi being out and Dorsey coming in.

I can’t argue that cause they maybe true ... we’ll never know ... I really hope it wasn’t #2 ... that would be moronic cause he could have gotten himself fired ... but thats another discussion ... *L*

U gave reasons why he didn’t run enough last year ...

Were in agreement that he didn’t run enough there ... thumbsup

Oh, he definitely did not run enough last year.

My only dispute is with folks that say "Hue doesn't like to run", because that it patently false and proven to be so a number of times over.

1 It was obvious that Kizer had confidence issues. He had problems in ND and he clearly wasn't at ease... has nothing to do with giving him a shot. Its clear that Hue used all the excuses he could, and Kizer was his major escape goat.

2 He vouched for several QB's that then he proceeded to critic, and he got rid of other Qb's that were functional in other teams.

HUE is not a good head coach nor was he ever a good coach... There is nothing special about him, his record speaks for him.

Instead of trying to make excuses, the Hue defenders should focus on what makes him special for you guys.

It appears that calling 2 pass plays in every 3 plays in a struggling offense with a rookie QB is something a genius coach would do....

I would also add that it's hard to commit to the run when you are down a score or 2.

Last year we were way behind at the end of games. We were down at least 14 points in 7 or 8 games. (my brain is too tired to make sure)

This season, the Browns are the #1 rushing team, with 611 yards. We are #1 in rushing attempts. We are #1 in rushing TDs. We are 7th in rushing 1st downs. We are tied fr 1st with 6 runs of 20+ yards.

The idea that we "don't run enough" is simply not supported by the facts.

We threw BEFORE WE GOT WAY DOWN ... that’s no excuse bro ... matter of fact ... in some games the picks were the reason we were so far down ... *L*

This year .. I think Haley’s passing to much ... *L* ...

I thought he should have ran more in the 4th quarter of the saints game ...

Same last week ...

We ran the first 3 quarters on both teams ... were up ... take advantage of the fact we been pounding them for 3quarters ... that wears team down ...

So we may agree on this year ...

The last two years ... NOT A SHOT IN HELL ...

PS. Why would u have to quit running if your down 1 score?

We run more than any other team in the NFL.

My only real complaint is that Nick Chubb broke 2 huge runs, then never saw the ball again.

I heard an NFL vet turned analyst say that the Browns' biggest mistake last week was this:

We were up 14 points with about 9 minutes to go ... had the ball 1st and 10 from around the 12 yard line .. and we PASSED, which turned into a fumble which opened the flood gates.

His point: doing the math, if we RUN, RUN, RUN and don't get the first down ... that wastes 3 minutes off the clock.

Our defense then has a 14 point lead with about 6 minutes to go ... and the Raiders have a longer field to go.

Let's say they still score ... the clock is down around 3-4 minutes and we're still up by 7.

RUN, RUN, RUN, etc.

Worst case scenario? We still have TIME to win the game even after blowing a 14 point lead

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Hue's success running the ball in Cincy was due to the fact that he had a 65% QB spraying passes all over the field. Using the pass to set up the run = chunk yardage in the running game.

We had no hope, the last two years, of going out and grinding out victories on the ground. We faced 8 or 9 in the box with a jekyll / hyde RB in Crow and a complimentary back in DJ... and a defense licking their chops. If Kizer would have even shown a flash the argument may be valid.

I don't know why there is any discussion about last seasons offense.

Todd Haley was brought here to lighten the load on Hue Jacksons shoulders.
Haley has committed to the run and that can not be debated.

I get frustrated during games at a play call here or there, but for the most part Haley is doing a great job. He has been a very successful OC for many years. People blasting him for a loss when we put up 42 points is crazy. Almost as crazy as the Steelers making him the scapegoat for their playoff loss last year when they almost scored 50 points on the best defense in the league.

There should be no fire Hue calls at this time. I believe both offensive and defensive staffs have improved mostly to the addition of talented players.

"Dumb call. When they don't work they're dumb....and I heard from Parcells...He just had to stick the knife in again" - Todd Haley on reverse call in OT that got blown up for loss of 11 back to the 5.

I don’t have an issue with the call itself but I don’t understand runnyit with streater.
Run it with calloway or duke or Landry and i am completely fine with it. But streater isn’t the dynamic runner those other guys are. The ravens player had penetration and streater tried to go wide but he should have taken it inside then cut it back out.

Here is that reverse everyone is mad about. If Streeter cuts into the hole, this is a big gain. Instead he goes behind and loses yardage.

This new tweet feature is nice, but I'm not sure how legit some of these guys are. I mentioned this on another thread that was addressing a different topic, but it seems anyone w/a laptop can put stuff like this out there.

I think we should be careful in accepting the opinions of these tweets. It looks cool and professional, but that doesn't mean it is.

thanks for the replay for some reason after a few days my Browns games from the NFL ticket are being deleted??? don't know why, wanted to go do a play by play on Harrison LT.

Anyways. Actually if you look the WR did an awful job. He did not read the block of Mayfield and should have cut underneath mayfield and speed to the corner for at least 0 yards or more, instead he went deeper and Mayfield blocked his guy that way and he got caught for the big loss. Didn't like the call but the execution by the WR was terrible. Did Haley know he was at WR, this seems like a play for Calloway, WR coach put him in and that was the mistake...wrong time wrong guy...

Haley does not strike me as a guy who throws arounds compliments or talks about how good we are.

So in reading his press conference it struck me.

He likes this team.

He sees growth. Players have worked hard.

Normally when I hear him he is very coach like.

"We need to get better" etc.

Interesting.
