Everyone talks about Allen’s arm but when they clocked them, baker was like less than 1mph slower

I agree, Mayfield seemed to light a spark. He played like a leader and seasoned vet.

Dorsey whiffed on not picking Darnold!

thumbsup That should be the end of that for now.

Congrats to Baker and the team! Good home win. Now I'm looking forward to the season again. I don't expect perfect, but Sundays will be fun!

Totally... felt so weird picking up third and longs... getting some calls our way.... holding onto the ball.

Reason QB wins are dumb #9876:

Tyrod Taylor gets credit for tonight's win because started. Mayfield gets nothing.

Well, none of that matters because Baker Mayfield is now the starter and Tyrod Taylor is not.

And HEY!, Shout out to our boy Greg Joseph. His kicks may not have been pretty but without him we don't win tonight, remember that.:)

I didn't relax until well after the clock hit 00:00, waiting for a blasted yellow flag. Joyfully, it never came, though I'm sure the refs were looking for some excuse to toss it.

I have seen the Browns lose even on 00:00. Never, ever relax.

Listening to Mangini before the game... Cowherd's talking about how the Jets "Trust darnold emotionally"

and Mangini said something like "yeah but they haven't really opened the playbook up for him"

And Baker seems to be throwing all over the field. It's wild. Dude gives no cares about the spots he's throwing to, he just seems to be able to throw it wherever.

That's not something we've seen in a long time. A QB who can make all the throws from the pocket. And he just throws it all with authority.

Has that "Will try to throw a strawberry through a battleship" mentality. "Small window?" it's cool I'll throw it to the one place he can get it...

Kid's gonna be special later on in the season IMO. This season's gonna be wild.

It was an amazing game.

I was so down in the first half.

Mayfield changed that all.

The choice for next week is obvious, and I saw it from 2000 miles away.

I was just going to post something similar. Mayfield looked like a vet driving down the field after not practicing with the first team on a short week. Darnold looked overwhelmed after practicing with the first team much of the off-season on a short week. Pretty cool.

Just got home form tonight's game. Atmosphere was insane!

Baker saved the day, as it was getting ugly up there.

Tyrod will make for a serviceable backup.

Pure elation when the Browns won.

Hat tip to Devicedawg! Enjoy the sunshine. He's been calling it for Mayfield from the beginning.

Just got home from the game.....There were BM chants growing just before TT went down.....When he was slow getting up....the place went crazy......

My initital thought..oh no...here we go again...throwing the kid in before he's ready....I thought about every 1st round failures going back so many years....

And somehow, in some very uncleveland kind of way....the offense never looked back, they started moving the ball...looking like a professional football team..

It was insane....

This is Bakers team. After tonight you simply can't turn back the clock. He was an obvious leader, took command of the huddle and our players acted as though they would walk through the gates of hell for him. Leaders are born not made. Baker is a leader.

I've gone to bat for the Crow and really don't believe we upgraded the RB position much if at all with his departure and by signing Hyde. But his display tonight was inexcusable. A player would have to be a moron to treat a fan base that way for a move the FO made. The fans had no say as to whether Crowell stayed or was let go yet he treated the fans like they were responsible. I'm done with him. I hope he does and should get fined for that display.

The D once again played great. With Garrett up front and Ward in the secondary, there are two huge stars on our D for years to come.

Amazing how much better a coaching staff looks with a real QB and some real impact players, huh? I guess there's actually some merit to the quote by Dorsey in my signature, huh?

Brilliant play calling! Of course it always look brilliant when the players execute the plays that are called. Like the two point conversion. Had that failed there would have been calls for Hue's head and reported as a stupid and desperate call. But since it worked? Suddenly it was brilliant!

Maybe it wasn't the coach after all? Can those of you giving Hue hell get off his jock strap for just a little while now?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Just watched the game - man - I thought "here we go - again" going 14-0 down but Baker - wow! Defense is great but I'm worried we are over-aggressive on occasion and we get gashed - they were able to run a lot left on us it seems - but they made plays and we re-adjusted. I'll take an aggressive play making D over bend and don't break.

Offense looked much improved with Baker in. We do need to consider how he will look once teams have film but man, that was so encouraging over JFF, Quinn, Weeden starting their 1st games. Dude has SOME arm and the accuracy is there. He also scans the field - he sees it well.

Ward, Garrett - they will be Honolulu (or wherever) bound for years to come.

Just so pleased for everyone we won. It's an amazing feeling I'd forgotten.

OK, I was at the game, and it took a long time to get home. Then I watched the recorded game. It's 4 am and I'm just getting online. I haven't read the preceding posts.

The game started with a sense that this was the night. That feeling quickly dissipated. The offense looked lost. The defense looked strong, but even they seemed to lose their edge as the game wore on. The air left the stadium and there was a very familiar sense of dread.

Then Baker Mayfield entered the game. I have heard about 'game changers' my whole life, but tonight I saw it happen.

HE. CHANGED. THE. GAME!

The offense which looked horrible before, suddenly was clicking on all cylinders. The defense regained their swagger. The entire stadium came alive. The Jets, who had been very cocky, started playing scared. The entire game changed. When they scored the 2-point conversion, I turned to my friend and said "This is a watershed moment. This is the moment when the Browns have turned it around."

That was a great game, I am very glad I was there.

Finally; Screw Crowell! Wiping his a$$ with the ball after scoring his second TD, then throwing it into the stands was utterly disrespectful to the Browns, the fans, and the city. ZERO CLASS!! Whatever good will I felt for him is gone.

watching the game again ... it's amazing the difference in our team's demeanor when he came into the game

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Postgame thinking, I believe we need to blend the transition betwen tyrod and baker, if it’s happened,

It’s happened, have to respect the tight throwing windows

I told my Partner that Darnold needed to be treated like Ohio State treated him and he'll crumble.
Many times Garrett and Company made him looked like a Possum in the Headlights. For the 4th Quarter they owned him.

KUDOS to the new Kicker!!!!!
THAT'S PRESSURE!
Hey did he bring in Rally Possum? LOL!

Baker, as he stated, did what he was drafted to do.
In the coming days he will see what a refreshing sight and understatement that was.
THAT'S not been seen here in Decades!
We've seen QB's flash before after covering for an injury.
Not sure this was all Flash... he might be the real deal.

Lordy doesn't it feel good the morning after a come from behind win with Rookie's playing a major role on both sides of the ball??

It's one game - so I don't want to get too carried away - I don't want to anoint Baker as a HOF'er or even a franchise QB based on 1 game..... but DANG if it isn't hard not to look at what the kid did and how he did it and how he made the whole freaking team better .... Running game, Passing game and OL play were all better with him in the game. He made his OC look like a genius instead of an amateur. And he acted like he'd been there 100 times before, complete command of the offense and his team mates, gave an awesome interview after the game that was level headed and gave props and respect to his teammates .. . I didn't pimp Baker like Device ... but I am one of the posters who wanted him at #1. Got to love the early signs.

I have a lot of friends texting during the game - none of them wanted Baker, all of them want Hue fired. And I do agree with them about one thing.... I have always said I didn't want Baker learning on the job - he needs to only start when he is clearly the better QB. Well based on what we all witnessed how the hell was Hue starting TT ? It's not even close and I can't believe that the same wouldn't be true in practice. That is a head scratcher and honestly deserves some discussion.

Love our draft class right now and love the feeling of a Morning After Win.

I know everyone wants to talk about Baker, and rightfully so.

But I think Ward deserves to be in the mix so far for Rookie of the Year.
