For those who celebrate Xmas, what was your most memorable gift as a kid? Mine was a tossup between a 20 guage shotgun and an air hockey game...how about you?

Dec 18th 1988 40 yard line seats at the Muni with my old man, i was 9, first game I ever went to. Snow, mud, great day for football and Don Strock throws a strike to Slaughter in the end zone for the win over Houston to play in the playoffs. Slaughter did his little jiggle, and the place went NUTS...My dad got us the same seats for that playoff game too, got beat...but that was my favorite Christmas!

Yeah, that was amazing, the other one I got that I loved was this G.I. Joe base, it was like the Thunderdome or something, and then on my dads side I got one from him also, it was a great year.

First ever football outfit, I guess I was 9 or 10. If I can find the photo, I will post someday,...
Now when I was 25, I bought my son ( three months old) a Lionel train---we still have it and put it around our tree every year.

A Huffy bike when I was 8 or 9... I grew up in the mountains and there was 2 feet of snow on the ground so you couldn't take it outside... so I pulled it into the middle of the living room and sat on it and watched tv....

The six million dollar man, action figure. I got the backpack, which had an ear piece radio, that ran without batteries IIRC. I also got the rocket ship. I can remember trying to listen too Pete Franklin with that little backpack. I remember, thinking I wasn't going too get it, for I never found it among the gifts in Mom and Dads closet. My 3 year old daughter calls him the prince and plays with him now, which I still get joy seeing her look through his bionic eye

I was 21 living in a Buffalo,NY tiny apartment unable to go home for Christmas due to job responsibilities. Feeling really low when a knock at the door came and there were Peggy and Terry dressed as naughty female elves.
And were they ever that afternoon! They had special presents but there was no reason or way to wrap them!

Yeah I had the castle greyskull with the microphone. Nothing like an afternoon of bombarding my sisters my little pony castle with the combined forces of He-Man and Star Wars when you were 8
I think mine was Nintendo. Hooking that sucker up and playing Mario Bros/Duck Hunt was pretty cool that christmas!

For some reason too most of my match box cars met the fate of my hammer. One year I got the suitcase full of cars and I broke them all. I think to make damaging them in the endless crashes look more real hehe.
Now that I think of it, one real cool gift I got was the X-Wing fighter that made noise and when it got hit the wings flew off. Yeah, that I broke too hehe.

One year my dad made me an army battleground on a large piece of wood. Painted it green, built hills, had trees, broken train tracks, bunkers etc. That thing was sweet.

Wasn't it the GI Joe base with the jail in it? Or was it Star Wars? I remember I got pissed one year b/c my dog ate all the missles from the Scarlet (the chick GI Joe) missle battery tank. All I know is a platoon of storm troopers and GI Joe guys were no match vs anything!
Ohh yeah, speaking of stairs, did anyone ever go bobsledding in a laundry basket down your parents stairs? lol, it was all good till you leaned a little too forward and got front heavy and flipped down the stairs

The G.I.Joe base had a jail, that wasnt the Thunderdome though, unless that one had a base also, but the very first G.I. base had a jail, that was actually one of the very first G.I. items i ever got. It was gray and had an open top, like no roof.

There are 2 Christmas' that stand out in my mind from my childhood. I was in 4th grade and was starting to "blossom" and my mother(may she rip) whose sense of humor was a bit on the warped side decided to embarrass me profusely. She hung my first "bra/panty" set on the Christmas tree like it was a decoration.
The other Christmas that stands out was when i was 13. My mother and father decided to send me on a wild goose chase all through the house with little notes as to where my last and best Christmas present was. I followed the notes around the house(mind you in wasn't a huge house either ). Finally the last note told me to go to my room. In my room sat an entertainment center...the old fashioned kind....turntable, radio and recordable 8-track tape player. (yeah I'm old ) Those are the 2 Christmas' that stand out the most in my memory.

It's not so much the presents that I remember but the traditions of the day in my family. We'd wake up and run into my Mom and Dad's room yelling "wake up! wake up! santa was here, we need to open presents" My parents would say "do you think santa left you presents, were you a good girl this year?" Then dad would say "let me go downstairs and see if santa came, and make sure he's already gone" So dad would go downstairs with a camera, take a picture of all the presents under the tree, make sure all the lights were on and that we had some Christmas music playing.
He'd tell us to come downstairs to see if santa came, we'd race down the stairs and see that santa DID visit. And we always opened our presents in our stockings first (which we still do to this day)

Hell, my best stocking gift was a pair of diamond earrings from my mom 2 years ago. She had gotten my sister a cheapy laptop (couple hundred dollars), so to be fair, she knew I'd wanted diamond stud earrings....so that's what I got. Very cool for me! I'm a jewelry nut, what can I say. LOL

I moved to Wisconsin a few years ago and here they give the kids their stockings on Dec 5th. THey call it St. Nicks day. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I didn't know what my wife was talking about the first time she told me about it.
