I am no Hue fan, but beware getting what you wish for people.

If Hue is fired, the Haslams will hire his replacement. Do you really think that will go well? Really?

So, who do fans want as the interim? Haley whose offense can't convert the takeaways into points, Jones, whose special teams are anything but, or Williams whose defense has given up points last in every loss? (plus a real drubbing against San Diego)

Right now our rookie QB is under constant pressure because we have a pair of Tackles who are not yet in sync, and a RG who has played poorly ...... and Jarvis Landry and a who's who of rookie WRs. (plus a Ravens reject)

Think about this:

Landry
Perriman (9 days, or so, with the team)
Callaway (R)
Ratley (R)
Scott (R)

Hmm ... wonder why we had trouble passing?

Bleh.

The Haslam's hired a search firm, Korn Ferry, to help find, interview, and hire Hue Jackson. I would hope they would let John Dorsey do his thing this time around. We need the GM and head coach to be aligned. It is something the team hasn't had since. . . I literally can't think of one.

Before Jackson was Pettine and Farmer, which was forced (Joe Banner is the one who interviewed Pettine).

Before that was Chud and Banner/Lombardi, Chud was gone after one year.

Before that was Shurmur and Heckert/Holmgren. That's it. That's the last time our GM and head coach were on the same page.

Give me Bob Wylie.

In all seriousness, I would make DeWayne Walker the interim coach. He's been a head coach before (in college) and wouldn't cause the other coaches (Haley or Williams) to leave their positions as play callers. We could promote Jerod Kruse to DBs coach.

Also, once the season is over we can use Walker as our Rooney Rule interview.

Were on the same page here y-town ..

This talk of Hue being fired may be a wee bit pre-mature ... just maybe ... rolleyes ...

Talk about putting the cart before the horse ....

Unless his presser is going to far .... he’s gonna be fine ....

thumbsup

He certainly won’t be fired for todays performance ... are u kidding me ... on the road with a wr room that barely knows each other and a depleted linebacking corps and 2 corners down ...

And we lose on a 59 yarder in OT ...

And now he’s on the hot seat ....

He was on the hot seat the moment John Dorsey got fired.

This needs to be reiterated. Hue Jackson being fired was always the most likely outcome. GMs that are hired and have head coaches foisted upon almost never (like once every 20 years almost never) keep the coach. There are dozens of examples of this. It's why I wanted Hue Jackson fired in the off-season. We kept a coach that was never going to be with the team long term and wasted a season in the process.

Hue has been on the hot seat much longer than just now...

Tomorrow is his birthday. I doubt they'd fire him the day he turns 65.

No. Holmgren hired Shurmur after he fired Mangini (who he kept after going on a four game winning streak). We all knew he would fire Mangini eventually. Sounds familiar. . .

Honest question...Do you not believe the reports of Albright and Ruiter? I'm with you that today's loss isn't a reason to fire Hue. However, if there is infighting with Haley it cold spell the end for one of them.

If he gets fired it will be because of his presser today and what it stems from ...

Truth is none of us know the situation and how this all evolved .... all we know is where we ended up and thats with Haley as OC and Hue as HC ...

And today according to some Hue went into throwing Haley under rthe bus mode .... i’ve Only heard the one 45 second clip posted on here ... that was a nothing to me ... but I have no clue what else was said ...

Hue’s done a damm good job with this team this year ... is he perfect .. NO ... no one is ... i thought it was dumb as all get out to not take the 3 before the half but i get what he’s doing ... he said were gonna be aggressive and he wants his players to be aggressive so he went for it ... i don’t like it nor do i agree with it ... thats gonna happen sometimes ...

Hue’s done a good job with this team this year no matter how unpopular that opinion is .. it doesn’t change the facts ...

Not sure what he said at the presser or how it went over upstairs ... but i don’t se any way they fire him based on performance this year ..

That’s be STUPID ....

FOr Aditi to come out with all of that stuff, that is a bad sign IMO. There's a lot going on behind the scenes.

Yes, all sensible people would hope that Dorsey would make the hire.

Are the Haslams sensible in their management of the Browns?

And even if the Haslams are sensible for just this once, if the Head Coach still reports separately to the Haslams and not to the GM, the Browns will still have the same old toxic front office structure that encourages infighting.

When one understands that many more things go into a W and an L than what the HC can control such as lets say the TALENT on there team ...

U guys wanna destroy him cause he couldn’t win games with guys like Cody Kessler, Deshone Kizer and Charlie Whitehurst the year before ...

Take a look at things for what they are .... he had HORRIBLE, YOUNG QB’S on teams without much talent ...

I have NO CLUE how ya’all just IGNORE the FACTS and jump to false conclusions cause u CAN’T HANDLE LOSING when its INEVITEBLE ...

Just look at this year ... we have SOME TALENT and we’ve WON a FEW GAMES and were INCHES AWAY in all but one of the others and were doing it with a rookie qb whose handing off to a rookie and throwing passes to multiple rookies and whose blind side is protected by a rookie ....

WHATS WRONG WITH U PEOPLE ....

I’m moving on ... ya’all can kid yourselves and live in your world of negativity ... i’m Gonna focus on the talent we do have and watch it grow together into something special ...

No. The isle was not about making the playoffs or finishing .500 or anything like that. The isle is about optimism for the future. The fact that we have more talent than we have had for a long, long time. The fact that we finally had an off-season that made a positive impact on the team. And on the fans.

So, the isle is still there. And we still have hope for the future. We are headed in the right direction finally.

I've supported Hue through 2 full losing seasons. His ability to have players give 100% through 2 years and 1 win is exceptional. Something some better coaches than Hue might not be able to achieve.

But the bottom line is that I believe many other coaches in the NFL - more than 50% of them for certain - would have won more games this year than Hue. I'm not going to hate on Hue or root against him because I'd rather he succeed and win games the rest of the way out. But I'm ready to move on when the decision comes.

As for the Isle - it's still there. The team has a foundation for great success. But we need a better navigator than Hue steering the ship - because apparently he can't read nautical maps.

How did Hue lose yesterday's game?

Well that question is totally based on opinion. There is no way to prove anything one way or the other - but in answer to your question, in my opinion:

1. Not taking the FG points when available.
2. Penalties - the team has constantly committed way too many penalties.
3. Another game where the team could not play well in the first quarter - virtually the first half.

Maybe you think the coach doesn't have an impact on any of those 3 things? I do.

And in my comments - I didn't specifically say it was yesterday's game that Hue lost and a different coach would have won .... I said this season a lot of other HC candidates and or HC's in the NFL would have a better record than Hue does. Again that's my opinion.... Are you suggesting no other coach would have had a better record? A few other HC would have a better record? Many? A lot?

I'm just looking for a few folks who are interested in having honest football discussions. That is why I asked the question.

Heck, no one is even talking about the players. I enjoy giving my takes on the performances of players and reading the takes of others.

I had to quit reading the "Postgame Thoughts" thread because there wasn't any of that going on. Just dumb, vindictive crap about the blame game.

There aren't many posters trying to discuss things fairly and logically right now. I'm trying to find a few and was hoping you might be one of them.
