Not letting them in the US is a step up from separating families.

You see though, that's what the left is wanting. You may think we should enforce our boarders, the vast majority of those on the left want us to let these people in - with no regards to our own laws and procedures.

The left wants us to put the no entry sign up when they get here (funny and ironic they come right before the election...hmmm), so they can use is as a rallying cry for their base.

Many on the left disagree with you. We should have open boarders - and anyone who wants to come here should be allowed entry. Be damned if we let in 300 million new people and completely crash our system and economy, using all of our resources and forcing American Citizens into a depression that we would never get out off. Who cares if American Citizens die, because the left will have the votes they need to ensure power.

But there lies the problems, when talks about amnesty have started and those qualifications and steps come up, that's when the left starts pointing fingers and using the race card. We are not allowed to expect those here illegally to work, we are not allowed to expect those illegally to learn the language, we are not allowed to expect those here illegally to be vetted as to their background. Any type of question or qualification you request, you are instantly labeled a racist - on this board and in the news media.

I completely disagree. I think its the other way around. The biggest issue this Admin has had ( and rightfully so) was the separation of the families at the boarder. Trump and this admin took a hit on that across the board - both D and R alike were against that. The left is absolutely hoping that is brought back into memory before the election.

Yet the R side who controls congress did nothing and still does nothing while many children are still separated from their families. Deplorable.

Most of the people in these caravans find work and new lives in Mexico. 2-3 hundred typically ask for asylum in the US each year. It happens every year. This is hardly an epidemic for the US customs and border patrols. The illegal crossing of Mexicans and their bad hombres is a bigger issue. Get the Mexicans to pay for a wall like you said you would trump....problem solved.

WASHINGTON — As the Trump administration makes preparations to combat the 6,500-member Honduran migrant caravan making its way toward the United States, the Department of Homeland Security is also tracking a new caravan taking shape — this time from El Salvador, according to two U.S. officials, a local source on the ground in Central America and an internal U.S. government report obtained by NBC News.

The El Salvadoran caravan is still forming, but its members have plans to begin their journey northward toward the U.S. next week, according to the sources.

The internal report indicates that DHS is tracking the communications of caravan members, including a 230-member WhatsApp group that intends to leave on Oct. 31.

The caravan's movement is likely to trigger fierce backlash from President Donald Trump who has stoked fear about El Salvadoran migrants, particularly because nationals from the Central American country began the dangerous MS-13 gang.

However, the report indicates the early members of the caravan are immigrant families traveling with children.

It is unclear what has stoked this particular caravan to begin forming, but immigration advocates and experts believe its members may have been inspired by the Honduran caravan and hope to find safety in numbers.

Immigrants from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, many of whom travel as families and claim asylum, have presented a challenge for border agents as their numbers have surged under the past two presidential administrations.

The Trump administration would like to see Central Americans be stripped of the right to remain in the United States while they pursue asylum claims, a senior administration official told reporters on a call on Tuesday. Under current law, only nationals from contiguous countries, such as Mexico, are sent back across the border without appearing before an immigration judge.

Since changing the law would require an act by Congress, which is unlikely, the Trump administration is "currently evaluating all options" to deter migrants from crossing the southern border, the official told reporters.

DHS also released new numbers on Tuesday that showed a rise in border apprehensions from August to September. Although it is normal for border crossings to rise as the weather cools, the number of migrant families was particularly high, up from 16,483 in August to 20,120 in September.

In total, U.S. Customs and Border Protection arrested or denied entry to 521,090 immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year 2018, which ended Sept. 30, a significant jump from 415,417 the year prior.

I think it would be cheaper and easier for the USA to simply invade all of central america and conquer it. If they are all just going to flee to us anyways we might as well take over the countries and gain something from it. I mean seriously 1/3 of the world population of ecuadorians already live in the USA legally and they just don't stop coming.

So, here is the point of all of this. The hysteria of the articles that reek of propaganda and bias are misleading. We are much more likely to face harm for those w/in than from those that are coming in.


Thus, I think this campaign to paint all illegal immigrants as some violent threat is similar to the hate and bias that Asians and Jews have previously faced in this country. Simply said........it's a hate crime against an entire group of people.
