1. Make our rookie QB that wasn't supposed to start this year magically start reading defenses and executing an NFL offense like a vet
2. Magically transform our talented but raw undrafted rookie LT into a olineman that has refined his technique and added a significant amount of strength
3. Make at least one more NFL-average-or-better WR appear out of thin air on our roster
4. Cause the bone(s) in Mitchell's arm to magically heal and get him back out onto the field

... then yes, firing Hue will help us perform better this year.

I think stats were showed, and also you can see it with your own eyes, that our OL is not great, but is not bad also, I would say that its better than average.

It was also clear that Baker was trying too hard, holding on to the ball, etc

Also clear that Haley game plan revolved on pounding the D and grinding the game. Also clear that it worked, except with the Chargers and Pitt, and IMHo that's what you should do when you have a rookie QB.

Now, I have no problems on Haley being fired, I think probably it was better for both parts, but the guy knows what he was doing.

Most posters here are funny, when they don't like the QB, its always the QB fault, but when you like the QB than its everybody else's fault.

Just like coaching, when you start to have to make excuses for someone, its time to access your position. BM is a rookie, he's going through the growing pains of being an NFL QB, he does not need excuses.

Hue was fired, get over it. Not that the guy didn't deserve it,its no use now revolving in the past.

You must have missed the fact that the guy you claim was doing such a great job protecting Baker was fired too. Get over it? lmao

I want to add something.

I had 2 careers in my lifetime, sales and restaurant management.

I was up for a general manager position when I managed for Wendy's. I didn't get the job. I came in 2nd out of 5 or 6 candidates.

I worked with the woman who got the job, and really liked her. I thought she was an effective co-manager at the store we worked at. She didn't take crap from anyone, and she demanded standards.

Then she went to a difficult store, and tried to be everyone's friend. She coasted once she got the job she wanted. That store was a disaster, and she did little to change things.

Eventually they decided to fire her. Being liked was not enough. I wound up at that store, and my management team, and employees, turned that store into one of the better stores in the market.

I liked Hue. I was one of his biggest proponents after Pettine was fired. I didn't want Pettine gone, and I seem to remember that you didn't either. However, when it became apparent that he would be fired, Hue was the guy I wanted. Unfortunately, it just didn't work. He was friendly with everyone, but it seems like he never embraced that role as the chief disciplinarian. He never seemed to embrace his role as the standard setter. He also did come across as blaming other coaches and players at times. That made even me uncomfortable.

Hue coached the Raiders team that lost its front office when Al Sr. died. He held them together, but it wasn't enough. I thought that showed a lot about his ability to lead, though.

When he came here he supposedly received assurance that this wasn't a tear down. It became a complete gut and tear down. I thought that Hue tried to play the good soldier, but it was obvious that he was never comfortable with a team full of rookies and UDFA types. I think that the disastrous condition of the team wore on him, and he didn't react as well as he could have.

In the end, I think that both he and the team bear responsibility for the mess the past 2.5 years have been. It was probably time for him to go, especially with the internal strife that had really blown up lately.

HC and OC and QB coach often sit down together and draw up the first 15 plays or so. This is where 2 brilliant minds should put us in our best position but it simply didn't work that way. Our first halves were disasters on offense. Baker appeared to be digressing each week. When you read that most of the coaches saw Al Saunders as Hue's spy amongst the coaches. This needed to be cleaned up.

Hue tried to show up Haley on Hardknocks, it was unnecessary and playing to the cameras but with that said, Haley blatantly disregarded Hue and started Gordon. I wouldn't have blamed Hue if he fired Haley for that. I Anyway Hue wants to take over playcalling do it, don't announce it. If you want to fire Haley do it, don't play it through your media friends.

Haley whether you like your coach, hate your coach, do your job and do what your boss wants you to do. You cant let players see that lack of respect from an assistant towards the HC.

Anyway I applaud Dorsey for nipping it. Williams wont divide the team. He is well respected by both players and coaches. Kitchens we will see, he has paid his dues and this is his big opportunity and he still has Saunders to lean on if he needs to.

Laying in waiting for your boss to be fired so you can take his job. Classy guy!

Agreed. I think this lends credence to the idea that many people had earlier in the year-- that Haley took this job knowing that Hue was already on this ice. He must have been pretty shocked to find out he was also given the walking papers.

He'll never get another coordinator job if this story pans out.

Let's be real though. If anyone stood to get that interim gig it was Haley over Williams. Not really a far fetched idea as long as it wasn't nefarious.

Considering his boss was highly incompetent, most of us and the league will consider this has having initiative and a backbone.

Anything involving Hue is classless by definition.

Let's hope that isn't true. I don't believe everything I read from the press.

If it is true, Haley will probably not get another job. But again, hopefully it isn't true.

That's true.

If it is, no one should ever hire him. That's ridiculous.

Sadly, if they really got the information from Rutigliano, it's true. Unless they made that part up I'd say it's pretty accurate.

Some people never had problems with an HC that got the GM fired...

Strange twist of events...

I don't see why anyone is surprised by this.

I feel like folks were speculating about this the moment he was hired, and all through camp.

Hell, I just kinda took it for granted, I guess.
I'm glad we tossed him out, too. His offense was not good; too flash-in-the-pan, no consistency, and he (c/w)ouldn't run it.

Since it is on my mind, I recall folks talking about Haley's slow starts in games, and I explained it away with the belief that he was testing defenses and seeing what we could do against them and then adjusting as we went.

Turns out, Kitchens was able to figure things out WAY quicker, that or Haley is just lost. Either way, he literally is not missed. We got better with his subtraction.

Purp, I think we should wait awhile to evaluate all of that.

KC's offense is either the best or second best in the league. On the other hand, their defense stinks. It's hard to make any conclusions from just that game other than we lost again.

Now, I don't get this. You ask people to respect Hue because of his work prior to Cleveland, and then have no problems bashing Haley which has a vastly superior career, and much less time calling games here?

In August I surmised that Haley only came to Cleveland
thinking he could get a HC gig.
Im sure will get a college OC job somewhere.

I guess if losing with people you for some unknown reason feel are less of buttholes with lesser egos helps, then that's fine.

I think the Hue fan club is the only one that supports losing around here. Win 3 games out of 40 and cry that the guy was fired. Hell if he had won 4 we would be talking statue time.

If that 4th win would have been in Pittsburgh? Umm, probably, lol

The view of the "Hue Fan Club" was that this year and the past two years were separate entities knowing & recognizing that the past two years were a COMPLETE teardown and rebuild; and then that the reason for the losing this year wasn't coaching.

It's ok... we get to reboot everything all over again, so it's all good. Nothing says "we're doing it right this time" like hiring new guys and getting new schemes for the players to mess up.

So you will or won't feel better losing with "the new bunch"? that was the question. From your comments it seems as you would.

That is nonsense. You can't give a coach an entire team of kids fresh from college and expect them to beat NFL teams. That is just an unrealistic expectation. I don't care who the coach would have been you just can't win like that.

Hue is a good coach who got a raw deal. He won't have any problems finding a new job. We however are still stuck with a terrible owner so I feel more pity for us than Hue.

I doubt that Hue gets another Head Coaching job. He got fired in Oakland because he couldn't get along with the GM, we hire him and he can't get along with Sashi, and then him and Haley get into it. I was talking with my cousin the other day who is an Ex-NFL player and according to him the word on Hue is that he'll do anything possible to make himself look good. Nothing is his fault.
