Your trying to defend a CLOWN BRO ... Sheesh Peen .. this thief is fresh off the DUMBEST IDEA IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS OWNERSHIP ... this dudes last idea was to basically let his accountant perform a hernia operation on him ... who in there right mind puts a LAWYER IN CHARGE of his personal dept. and the final roster decisions and brings in a BASEBALL GUY to be his right hand man ... Sounds awesome at the cocktail parties on derby day in the owner’s lounge ... look i’m An INNOVATOR ... ... YOUR TRYING TO DEFEND A CLOWN MR. PEEN ... In 6 years Peen .. 6 years .. now remember ... were talking 6 YEARS NOT DECADES here ... Banner/Chud ... 1 YEAR ... Farmer/Pett - 2 YEARS Sashi/Hue - averages out to just OVER 2 YEARS ... Dorsey/PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET LUCKY - before the thief opens business for his 7thyear YEAR NOT DECADE of ownership he will be HIRING HIS 4TH HC after just HIRING HIS 4TH GM ... YOUR TRYING TO DEFEND A CLOWN MR. PEEN ... 3 - 13 1 - 15 0 - 16 Worst record in the HISTORY OF SPORTS OVER A 3 YEAR SPAN ... even worse than any expansion franchise including the lowly TB Bucs .... ALL SPORTS SIR ... FOR ALL OF HISTORY ... oooops ... my bad .. forgot about the Washington Generals ... the thief is better than the Washington Generals ... difference is ... NO ONE PAYS TO WATCH THE GENERALS ... Take a second and think about that ... let it really sink in just how bad that is ... MR, PEEN ... YOUR TRYING TO DEFEND A CLOWN!!! And to top it off ... it may have also been the most EMBERASSING RUN IN SPORTS OWNERSHIP ... lets run down ALL THE HIGHLIGHTS ... - Banner/Lombardi making him and us the laughing stock of the league ... little did we know this was just a small sample of what we were in store for ... To sum it up ...he fired his first year coaching staff at the word of his FO ... only to fire that same FO before hiring a new HC cause of incompetence ... with the last straw being a coach they interviewed the year before INFORMING THE THIEF HOW INCOMPETENT HIS PEOPLE WERE AT HIS INTERVIEW FOR SAID JOB THE NEXT YEAR ... he basically told him to stick an NFL HC JOB UP HIS BUTT cause he had bafoons running the show ... - then he hires a coach before his gm ... - johnny non football manziel and josh leading the league in partying headlines ... - hiring his HC before his GM ... only to top that off with ... - hiring a lawyer and a baseball stat dude to run an nfl team including final decisions on personal and the roster .. - his gm texting plays to the coaches on the sidelines ... - Shanny just CRUCYFING THE DYSFUNCTION we are on the press to get fired to ESCAPE ... Think about that one .. he had to ESCAPE this dudes SO BAD ... And if thats not enough ... LAST YEARS BYE WEEK DEBACLE ... he made SUCH BAD HIRES within 2 years they could not even complete a trade that was CONSUMATED WITH ANOTHER TEAM ... Think about that dude ... a rift in the building is one thing ... his hires were so bad they had possibly the most embarrassing episode in sports history ... And then we get the proverbial cherry on top bro ... it plays out in the press with LEAKS FOR OVER A WEEK .. MR. PEEN .. I ASK U SIR .. ARE U READY TO ADMIT YOUR TRYING TO DEFEND A CLOWN? Sorry if I depressed anyone else . I’m BLAMING PEEN ... *LOL* ..

I am not defending the guy. Many of the decisions have been bad. As you said, it is hard to defend many of the things we have done.
I will say this...if he doesn't put Dorsey over the coach in the pecking order, and Dorsey doesn't have 99.5% of the say on who the coach is going to be, I agree, there is no hope. We then have a guy just a GM short of another Jerry Jones, and that isn't good.

I’m getting mentally prepared to have LUCK be my ONLY HOPE bro ... And Luck is usually 50/50 between good and bad. Can't change that except the bad luck hurts more because if late round picks don't work, no big deal. If they do, they are normally not pro bowl type players. We know what bad luck, or poor decisions depending on which is more true when talking about top of the draft players, and leave a team where we have been for 20 years.

If I owned an NFL team, not only I would coach it, but I would play some snaps also...
Wouldn't give a rat's ass on what people would think... YOLO This is actually the best and most concise representation of what I believe is going on here... Although I do think he wants to win and he's trying to figure out how to win to make himself look like he is the one who figured it out...

Why do people miss the point that the Browns are nothing more than a product? Like shoes polish, bug spray, or dentures. If you don't like the product/owner/anything, don't buy it. Find a product you like better.
Haslam is the boss. Accept it. He will do what he wants. Accept it.
Or don't and keep venting about it. It's your blood pressure.

Until he figures out out can't run an NFL franchise like a Truck stop and it is about more than marketing, the author is probably right.
I've said this since day one but I'm going to say it again.
With a truck stop you're provided with the product and all you have to do is market/sell that product.
With an NFL team you have to build a winning product. That's a day and night difference.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I stand by my signature until the Browns improve on his watch. Dorsey is a step in the right direction. The smartest people know what they don't know and surround themselves with people that do know. Haslam simply is too stupid to understand this basic concept if he is involved in any way, shape or form with the football operations side of the Browns. Further, he is additionally incompetent if he believes that the organizational structure that CONTINUES to produce discord is fine as is. He simply a rich dumbass that will continue to delay the Browns becoming a playoff contender in the NFL. Sometimes addition by subtraction is a good move (in this case he should remove himself from the football operation side of the equation). You would think after SO many changes in front offices AND coaches he would realize this. I will wait to see...
After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.

If you're looking for Haslam to get out of this franchise's way, and you're about to watch the press conference and read between the lines to find out if this is the case... you're in for a big dissapointment (imo).

The Browns will never get better until Jimmy quits trying to micromanage. I have no problem with the HC, GM, and Jimmy having a meeting every week to discuss the team and where we are at....I really don't. Open door policies can be a good way to foster communication and results.
However, for Jimmy to even think for a second he should be the one hiring a HC is preposterous. You hired a GM to MANAGE your team and football assets...let him do his freaking job for Christ sake.
This has been the biggest source of discord we have seen in the Jimmy era. He has NEVER hired a football guy and stepped back and let him do his job. I'm not 100% sold on Dorsey like some of you are, but he should have the right to hire his people who see the same things as it relates to football ops. If not we are destined to be recycling the firing/hiring process, and most importantly the losing will continue.
Against logic, the most effective armor is willful ignorance.

He has an office at Berea and spends a stupid amount of time there. 2. It's not even that he has the coach reporting to him... it's that, when he's questioned on that, he doesn't even begin to acknowledge the possibility of an issue. That part of the press conference sticks out to me the more I think about it.

I wonder if there is any fan on here who came away feeling good about the future of the Browns after watching that press conference.
It made me so angry for a day. Now, I'm just back to being depressed.

There's no way anybody should be happy about canning coaches, because it signals the start of another reboot.
Anybody happy about that is simply too wrapped up in hate towards our coaching staff to think straight. Put another way.... if you think getting rid of the coaches is such a positive that it outweighs the inevitable fallout that's going to happen with our roster, then you're crazy.
I'll say this again, I was no Hue honk while he was here. I didn't like a lot of the things he did. I just don't see how getting rid of him, with nothing approaching a plan regarding his long-term replacement, with no sign of anything changing regarding Haslam meddling in the football ops, and with the inevitable roster purge to our young and (relatively) talented roster, that this is a positive.
Get ready for at least a couple more seasons of crappy football. Who knows, maybe we'll finally learn patience and give the next guy a whopping 3 YEARS. :-p

Judging by Jimmy's body language when Dorsey was talking and combining that w/his history of firing people.........I can envision Haslam firing Dorsey after next season.
Haslam is a turd. I can't believe I started to believe he changed. I really thought Dee was tempering his knee-jerk emotional decisions. I was wrong again.

My point was that you participated in it and never once talked about the Browns being a product and that they could choose not buy it and instead choose another product.
And believe me, the emotional responses and raised blood pressure rates were thousands of times greater in that thread than this one.

It's not my usual thing, but I will try my very hardest to bring this back up when you're whining and crying about how bad the next coach is, and are looking for him to get canned... or even, how we ended the year as poorly as we will. Canning Hue, while probably necessary for the long haul, is not going to magically fix what's keeping our offense from performing to its potential. Nor is it going to guarantee we're going to get anybody better. Nor is it going to guarantee that our young talent is going to continue to develop.
You aren't wrong when you make those statements (I'd only even attempt to argue half of your last post). But you're looking back, and I think that's a waste of time. I'm looking forward, and I really don't like what I see.

Quite frankly you all can put cute monikers on him as in Thief or whatever but this is total BS that the reason our HC or FO failed was due to Haslam. I take a step back and see him getting whatever is needed/requested by the powers to be. He does not Micro Manage, he has not set himself up as GM like the Cowboys.
He has hired a FOOTBALL GUY in Dorsey. He stuck with Hue even though he broke the record for ineptitude but at least he recognized the fact that we did a total rebuild. So he gave Dorsey the team and stuck with Hue. Hue failed not because of Haslam. Again I think that is total BS...leaving the teams for 2 years.
Like he did and gave all the power to Banner?
I actually think he's been a good owner. He has given his hires a chance to succeed and backed them in every which way that he could.
Possibly he made the mistake of the Manziel draft? Possibly we have heard a lot of stories. But clearly Dorsey is the MAN IN CHARGE regarding Football matters.
We are in good hands. He has spent money wherever needed.
Yeah its Haslam's fault.
No its the incompetence of others that have gotten them fired. Quite frankly Haslam has shown more willingness to back a hire like Hue for instance then I think any other Owner would have. He kept Hue and let Dorsey make his assessments on what to do. You think the fire of Hue came without the consent of Dorsey? I think not.

I'm looking forward, and I really don't like what I see. Please do. you do realize Hue Jackson was literally the worst HC in NFL history, correct? We literally could not do worse going into this year. I don't hate Hue, I think he was a good man, a loving family man. I however think he was a horrendous coach and didn't care about anything bout himself when it related to the team. It was all Hue all the time. magically fix what's keeping our offense from performing to its potential. If the offense has potential its up to the coach to make it reach the potential. He wasn't doing that as you just stated. Nor is it going to guarantee that our young talent is going to continue to develop. The VERY reason he was let go - Baker. They did not want Hue regressing Baker, as we have seen him regress. Hue was fired mostly in part because he was not developing talent. Good Riddance.

jmho I see what your saying and I agree with a decent amount of it, but just like Hue was the HC and leader of the team, Haslam is the owner. haslam is the one that hires the first person under him, and then so forth. So if the person Haslem hired makes a mistake - that mistake falls to Haslem. We also seem to always have quite a bit of Cap space since he has taken over. I think this next year - now that we have talent and a young corps - if that cap space is not overwhelmingly spent, we have an issue.

But what happened was specifically because the FO (Dorsey, Haslem, etc) are all in on BAKER. And the future of this team for the next 5 years lies in his hands.

It is time to move on. I'm still angry, but I'll cool off and come around at some point.
As I said, I was not a blind Hue fan. I had issues with him at times, and I made those known. You and I are much more in agreement than it would seem.
I'm just not a fan of another reboot. Plain and simple. I didn't think it was worth it to fire Hue now because of that.
I will keep an eye on our young talent, specifically on the offensive side. I'm curious to see how the coaching changes will affect them on Sundays, if there's any effect. Like I said, a coaching change is not magically going to make Harrison stronger or significantly refine his technique... so on and so forth for many of our other younger players.

Let me ask this one question of you though. I get people don't want a reboot. But what if Hue lost every game this season from here on out, which the way things are looking, was a possibility. Would you agree he was going to get fired regardless? So if that's the case, and its ALL about BAKE like which I think it is, why put BAKER through that for another 8 games? If the discord and discontent was as bad as we are hearing, why let BAKE get in the middle of it? Cut bait now with that part of it and move on. That's why I am "happy" about what happened even tho I have lambasted for saying it. I think Baker was be done a disservice, the future of our team.
