So sue me, I've been looking at mock's already. Went to try to figure out exactly where we stand w regard to how many picks and in what rounds..

It's pretty clear thru 6 rounds that we should have 9 picks..

It's the 7th round that has me reading and re-reading and trying to puzzle all the conditional picks out. One of the picks that may or may not be included in the 5th is that pick from the Patsies re: Josh Gordon.. near as I can tell it's either a 5th or it's a 7th.

I guess after reading thru all the conditionals I think it's possible that we have 3 more picks in the 7th.

Whatchoo guys think?

I think looking at future drafting is fun, except I really don't want to be thinking of picking top 5 or 10 again so I will wait until a few weeks before the end of the season. Normally I am looking at next year's mocks by week 8.

Plus so many of the college players ranking changes drastically by the time the draft rolls around.

I can remember posters on here wanting us to tank for, to name a couple, Matt Barkley, Gino Smith at QB. I also remember a others wanting us to tank for a big safety from USC a few years ago and the guys went in round 2 or 3 I think. Sorry, can't remember his name, maybe Hayes or Mays.

I am also pretty confident that in October of their last college year that Mitch Trubiski, Carson Wentz, Patrick Mahomes & maybe even RG III were not in the mix for high first round picks. & that is just going back a few years.

Sorry SaintDawg fr sounding negative I just wen toff on a tangent. It is too early for me to know what position I would take first, maybe impact OLB, WR or LT.

It's hard to say on that 7th round....

I was looking as well....as it stands today we would get the 7th pick.

As for who we might pick???? No telling until we know who is entering the draft.

I'm actually not trying to draft, I'm trying to figure out what our future coach and Dorsey have to work with. Like I said that 7th round with all the conditional pics is weird. Now, granted 7th rounder aren't much to get excited about.

I know....but if you have what looked like 5 or 6 picks in the 7th, you can use those as sweeteners in a move up a time or two.

Your 5th for our 6th and 7th round picks.

You probably wouldn't go to the top of the 5th round for that, but you could probably go to the 20th pick in the 5th round for that.

Every team has a bunch of 7th round candidates on the board because the difference between being a 7th round selection and a priority as a UDFA is pretty slim. Don't let a guy you like become a UDFA.

We need to sign a number 1 WR or draft the best WR in the draft.

so what if we are picking 7th, but the best WR in the draft is the 12th ranked player? Yeah you end up drafting Corey Coleman.

BPA at a position of need is always the best way to go. We need LT, WR, and possibly help at CB

Yep. It is a huge mistake to move more than 1 or 2 spots off of your Vertical board for a need pick.

For reference.

I’m not a big fan of first round WRs that are under 6’2”. Too small of a catch radius. Often too small to get off a jam at the LOS. I know there are guys that break that mold but there’s far more Cory Colman’s than Antonio Brown’s.
I like guys that can out physical their DB and ‘go get it’ when it’s jump ball time. Guys like AJ and Julio.
That said the top talent in this draft looks to be in the <6’2” mold.

Not blown away by any of the receivers this draft, yet. If I had to pick one I'd probably go with Kelvin Harmon from NC State. He's probably better value in the 2nd but could go earlier.

Strength of the class looks to be D Line. I think we could use another pass rusher, inside or on the edge. ...or both.

Bosa (Ohio State) probably won't make it to us despite the injury, but he'd be the guy if we get high enough.

I need to watch more of Ed Oliver (Houston), he's a bit undersized, but he would seem to be a good fit in Gregg's D (if he's still here.) Gifted athlete at DT, disruptor. I think he'd be good between Larry and Myles. I imagine he'd be hard to double there.

I like Josh Allen (Kentucky.) He can play any LB spot, Pass rush, and is pretty good in coverage.

Haven't dug too deep into the tape yet. Those are the names that come to mind as far as catching my interest at this early stage.

N’Keal Henry 6’4” 213lbs Arizona St there were alot of scouts watching hime last weekend, took a punt back like 95yds for the TD vs USC.

Vers brought up a guy in a thread in PF who would look great in out defense;

LSU LB Devin White. I think that he can play inside or out, and I think that he's going to be a stud in the NFL.

It's actually N’Keal Harry. He shines because of his size and dominance at the collegiate level. I like him a lot. I hear a lot of critics say they don't think his route running and ability to create separation will translate. He's improved this year.

As much as I want to throw up when I say this. I really think this team needs a WR cast out of the Josh Gordon mold. Big and strong, good hands. N’Keal Harry is that, not on a Josh Gordon scale, but not on crack either.

He's one of the few WR I would draft high because most of them are too small. Just not doing that with high draft stock anymore. Bake would fare well with someone that can "go up and get it". N’Keal will do it all day, and he'll punish any DB that tries to body him up.

Many sites have AJ Brown as the top WR. There seems to be quite a few in this draft. Deebo Samuel is another that is ranked near the top. Texas and WV also have a couple tall WRs that some sites are talking about. I haven't watched as much college ball this year as in years past so I haven't seen some of these guys. One guy that I don't hear much about but has looked pretty good in the small sample size that I have seen is Hakeem Butler. Iowa State 6'6" 225 lbs and a sub 4.5 40. Not saying anything other than he has jumped out at me when Iowa state has played. Maybe a later round pick.

I have nonages of WR's yet. I suspect some decent juniors will jump early.

I'd take a still recovering Bosa.

Anthony Johnson (Buffalo) is a receiver I'm liking. Plucks the ball with his hands and seems good tracking the deep ball to make the over the shoulder catches. Plays outside and in the slot, and seems to run many different routes. Run blocking effort leaves a lot to be desired at times. Need to watch more full games of him to see how he progresses through the season.

This is supposedly the deepest defensive line draft ever. I’d love to be able to grab a great player that falls just because there are so many other great players.

I haven't studied the draft at all, but I saw AJ Brown a couple of times and he looked very good to me.

I also saw Hakeem Butler because I try and watch Iowa St when I can. He breaks a ton of tackles and was making huge plays for them.

Samuuel is a local kid that I get to see. He is very talented.

There was a WR for Texas that I remember as making me say "Wow," but I can't remember his name.

I'd skip the WR and go for the LB; we can address that position in Free Agency and Round 2 thru 5. Folks may argue that it is too high, but I'd take Devin White and not blink.

and, if we go WR in Round 2, I'd come back to CB in Round 3... otherwise, I'd be looking to go CB in Round 2, maybe DT.

I think Devin White will be rated much higher by draft day.

Somebody named their son "Greedy"? We might gotta get that guy. Maybe trade up with 5 or 6 of our 12 5th round picks.

Undersized like Aaron Donald. There is no better player in this draft, IMO. DL of Oliver, Ogunjobi, Ogbah, and O'Garrett could be the best in the game.

I would absolutely love to have Oliver, he is my #1 rated player in the 2019 NFL Draft. Been watching him since he was a freshman, he never takes a play off, 100% motor 100% of the time.

Boss wont be there when we draft... I'm taking the best Tackle or WR available...

I would be wary of using a first round pick on a WR. I was looking at the last few years and it seems at least 66% either busted or did not live up to a first round pick.

Plus they all look like trash this year.
