40 - Interesting is correct. Controlling the house just makes them a thorn in Trump's foot. He will have to make deals and the dumbass dems will cut deals, usually stupid deals.

The one thing I dislike most about dems is that they are not cutthroat enough to make good deals with Republicans.

If you remember what I said when the Republicans first took everything, we had RINO's and Establishment that had to go and many are now gone.
This Senate will be more supportive of Trump's agenda.

but the house won't, and thank god. finally some sort of balance has been restored at the federal level.

remember, the dems now control the oversight committees as well thanks to winning the house.

which means Trump won't have people running interference for him anymore in the house.

IMO, the key will be the outcome of forthcoming Senate races, if the Repbualicans end up with 54, seats in the senate, ...

as much as I hate to say it, it will be good defense for the inevitable (terrible feeling) stuff the democrats will come up with, ya know, 10,000 page bills with no time to debate them,

and the often seen, Republicans have a 52-48 lead, but the democrats suddenly make 1 person flip and "somehow" , Somehow! even 51-49 means the democrats get their way in the house or senate.

I may have been a child when Regan was president, but I remember the phrase, "override the veto" , if both the House and senate pass something by large enough margins.

The Senate, going 54 republican, vs staying 51 republican is a very huge deal in defending vs. the shenanigans the democrats will come up with.

No, the House won't. This is the part the Markets like. Nothing major can come out of Washington that effects business like it can happen with one party rule.

I think if the House comes in all vindictive, loading up on investigations of Trump instead of governing, it will kill them in 2020. The people who elected them want legislative leadership more than anything.

Trump won't be under the gun any more than he already has been. Mueller is the key now. Either he has something worthy of impeachment or he does not.

a lot of the house flips were from people telling their supporters they are gonna want to investigate trump finances, like his tax returns.

it will only kill them in 2020 if nothing comes of it. only time will tell if that ends up being the case or not.

Trump will have extra pressure. The Intelligence committee will reopen the Russia investigation. Trump's tax records will be subpoenaed. And Mueller now has a place to send his report that will not bury it.

Add all of that to the ongoing suits at the state level for profiting from office and a few others; the next two years could be Trump's toughest test.
