OCD, come on. Like last week you were saying investigate everything, now it's a witch hunt.

I'm not opposed to an investigation, I'm opposed to the FDLE saying there is no cause to investigate BUT a republican AG decides to order it anyway. You can't see that slippery slope?

I can but weren't we in on the "investigate everything"?

We get the Govt we deserve.

I'd love to tell you I think there is a way to get more people interested and engaged. But I don't - I think most people today are self absorbed and don't care to pay attention to anything other than what is in their immediate lives. It's why "politics by face book" is so / was so effective. People easily influenced by trashy political messages that are most of the time empty rhetoric devoid of facts .... or they just don't vote. Or both.

If we had 75% voter turnout would things be any different?

Hell yes. 75% of total turnout would be the death of the GOP forever. That’s why they cheat and suppress voter turnout by gerrymandering and limiting voting sites in known Democrat districts. They don’t even hide it anymore with GOP controlled congress.

Democrats have to beat GOP apponents by a 10% margin to secure a seat now since the GOP leadership want to stop counting votes in close races across the country. Deplorable right?

This was on Morning Joe this morning and i found it on Vox. I know Vox is left leaning but this is just from the exit polls and i would have assumed that the repubs would have done better with this electorate. From the exit polls, the voters in 2018 were older, more college educated than last election. from 2016 to 2018 the 18-29 voter went from 14% to 9% but the 65+ went from 25 to 32%. African American, Latin and Asian/Other stayed pretty much the same from 2016 and 2014 levels.
With young voters not coming out and more older folks voting,I would not think that the dems would have done very well. I dont know if it was about healthcare or something else.

The 2018 electorate was older, whiter, and better educated than in 2016
Democrats hit some of their GOTV targets but missed others.

A picture of the people who voted in the 2018 midterms is starting to emerge, and it offers a template for who Democrats will need to reach ahead of 2020.

Exit polls found that voters were younger and less white than the 2014 electorate, but older and whiter than the group that turned out in 2016.

Yair Ghitza/Catalyst
Exit polls have historically been unreliable in capturing the demographic composition of the electorate, so the main exit polling consortium changed its methods this year to mitigate the problem. That creates a new problem — you can’t compare this year’s exit polls to past years.

Fortunately, Catalist, a progressive data vendor company, developed a new methodology for estimating the composition of the electorate that gives us demographics that are both accurate and comparable.

This means Democrats improved on their 2014 performance in terms of youth and minority turnout. But they were unable to overcome the normal dynamic by which the midterm turnout slump disproportionately impacts young people and nonwhites. If Democrats could get the same kind of results they had in 2018 but with a more typical presidential election electorate, they might do even better in 2020.

The education story, by contrast, looks a little different. With college graduates making up 37 percent of voters, it was the best-educated electorate of all time. And the non-college educated whites who form the base of the Republican electorate fell to “only” 47 percent of voters.

Yair Ghitza/Catalyst
That’s in part a story about turnout, but also simply a story about demographic change over time. The overall American population is getting a little less white each year. And among the white population, younger people are substantially better educated than older ones, so the natural progression of the life cycle tends to reduce the non-college educated white share of the population.

Regardless, even at 47 percent, the white working-class share of the electorate is very large. Conventional exit polls tend to overestimate the non-college educated white share of the population. And since non-college educated whites are relatively rare on the ground in New York and Washington, DC — where the political and media worlds are based — it’s easy to fall prey to the illusion of believing the exit polls.

Also note that even though “suburban” is often used in a political context as a kind of shorthand for upscale whites who may be leery of Trump’s culture war politics, even in the where suburbs non-college educated whites outnumber college graduates.

Democrats don’t need to win this demographic to win elections by any means. But the exact margin of defeat makes a big difference even as the white working-class share of the electorate shrinks.

Disguised 'illegal' voters cost Republicans midterm victories: Trump

https://www.yahoo.com/news/disguised-ill...-211538601.html

Washington (AFP) - President Donald Trump on Wednesday said Democrats wearing disguises and voting more than once were responsible for Republican losses in tight congressional elections.

"The Republicans don't win and that's because of potentially illegal votes," Trump was quoted as saying by right-wing website The Daily Caller.

Final results have yet to be declared in multiple races following last week's midterm polls, with tense recounts underway in Florida.

The midterm races for governor and senator in the politically important state are so close that recounts are obligatory. Republican Rick Scott was ahead of incumbent Democratic Senator Bill Nelson by just 50.1 to 49.9 percent, according to the latest unofficial count.

Democrats have accused Republicans of maneuvering to prevent full vote tallies, while Trump told The Daily Caller that voter fraud had tipped the contest into chaos.

Trump claimed, without providing any evidence, that blatant use of fake voters in disguise had swung close elections.

"When people get in line that have absolutely no right to vote and they go around in circles. Sometimes they go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again. Nobody takes anything. It's really a disgrace what’s going on," Trump said.

Republicans have pushed hard for tighter rules requiring voters to show identification when they come to cast ballots. Democrats have resisted, arguing that the number of false voters is miniscule and that demanding IDs would have the effect of suppressing turnout, especially of poorer black Americans, in favor of the Republicans.

Trump shot back, saying that any ordinary shopper already carried documents that could be used at a polling station.

"If you buy a box of cereal -- you have a voter ID," he was quoted as saying.

"They try to shame everybody by calling them racist, or calling them something, anything they can think of, when you say you want voter ID," he said.

Nearly half a million dollars’ worth of cocaine was seized in three separate drug busts over the weekend near the Pharr Port of Entry along the Texas-Mexico. border, officials said.

Border Agents arrested a 28-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, both Mexican nationals, on Nov. 8 after a search of their vehicle revealed 10 packages of alleged cocaine worth an estimated value of $184,500, according to a news release. They were attempting to cross the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge.

The second seizure two days later at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility, found $120,500 worth of cocaine hidden inside a commercial trailer.

The final bust occurred on Nov. 11 at the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge. Agents arrested a 20-year-old man from Mexico after a secondary search of his vehicle exposed multiple packages of cocaine hidden inside, worth an estimated $138,000.

“These interceptions of hard narcotics are a great indication that drug smuggling organizations are making a concerted effort to introduce their merchandise across the border,” Port Director David Gonzalez said in a statement.

”CBP continues to counter those efforts through vigilance and perseverance,” he continued.

Suspects were handed over to the Department of Homeland Security Investigations for further review.

Broward misses machine recount deadline -- by 2 minutes

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/broward-misses-machine-recount-deadline-by-2-minutes

A Broward County election official said late Thursday that the county had uploaded the results of its recount 2 minutes after a 3 p.m. deadline – making the machine recount tally void. Instead, the results from last Tuesday’s election will stand.

The news comes after Brenda Snipes, Broward’s embattled election supervisor, boasted about never missing a deadline.

“We are excited to be at this point,” Snipes said Thursday afternoon.

The entire state of Florida is under a manual recount order as of 4 p.m. Thursday. It is unclear at press time how Broward's recount effort will proceed, and how these latest developments will affect the disputed Senate race.

Florida voters approve amendment to restore right to vote for felons who have served their time

More than 1 million previously convicted felons have had their right to vote restored in Florida.

Voters passed an initiative on Tuesday's ballot that renewed voting rights to the majority of felons who have completed their sentences, including probation and restitution, according to an ABC News projection. Those who committed sexual offenses or murder are excluded from having their ability to vote restored.

Amendment 4 required 60 percent approval to pass.

Of those large numbers, African-Americans largely benefit from the measure due to the fact they numerically make up the most convicted felons in the country. In 2016, 21 percent of African-Americans were disenfranchised, according to The Sentencing Project.

The Florida constitution, with Jim Crow–era roots, barred people from voting even after having completed their sentences.

Florida's Republican Gov. Rick Scott, who opposed the measure, axed a system allowing the restoration of voting rights without formal hearings to felons after being elected in 2011. Scott then implemented a law which required convicted felons to appeal their voting status to him through a clemency board and imposed a five-year waiting period for felons to even apply for clemency.

(MORE: Ron DeSantis to become Florida governor after Andrew Gillum concedes)

Scott was running for senator in the state this election cycle due to being term-limited out of office.

According to NPR, Scott granted voting rights to just over 3,000 people.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) estimates 1.4 million convicted felons will now have the ability to vote in Florida.

In March, U.S. District Judge Mark Walker issued an injunction for Scott to initiate a new clemency system to restore felons' voter rights by April. He ruled Florida's system that requires felons wait five years to petition the governor and three elected Cabinet members for the right to vote was "fatally flawed." But, Walker's ruling was blocked by a federal appeals court.

The newly approved measure made Florida's ballot after the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, a grassroots membership organization led and ran by formerly convicted persons, collected more than 800,000 signatures needed to qualify the amendment.

The measure even garnered celebrity attention -- pop star Rihanna urged Floridans to approve the measure.

(MORE: Trump will awaken to unfriendly House, and Dems poised to investigate)

"VOTE YES on Amendment 4 to restore voting rights to folks who have already paid their debt to society," Rihanna tweeted.

Andrew Gillum, the Democratic candidate who has conceded in Florida's gubernatorial race, supported the measure while his opponent, Republican Ron DeSantis, opposed it.

Activits took to social media after the win to laud the voters, and the amendment.

"A HUGE and hard fought victory. One of the most important of our lifetime," social activist Shaun King tweeted.

Others celebrated the long-awaited victory, which could shift Florida's future political climate.

This is a great thing.

Once you serve your time, your constitutional rights must be fully restored.

We have to move past this post-prison punishment we love in this country.

I think even if you're convicted of a non violent felony you should have the right to own a firearm. I mean if you weren't convicted of a violent crime, why shouldn't you be allowed to own a firearm?

Yeah, I understand a person being sentenced for a crime they commit, but once they've paid that price there's no reason they should be treated as if they're still being punished.

I agree. Non violent crimes shouldn’t mean you lose the 2nd amendment right.

The complex part is definitely violent crimes though. On one hand, people should be allowed to atleast have a weapon at home. But there are some who do argue that violent criminals should have that right restored, and that’s something where it blends between legality, and society being simply uncomfortable with that.

I wouldn’t know how to argue for or against that, to be honest.

Sex offenders have to register for long period of time or life. This is certainly post prison punishment, how do you feel about that? Their lives are basically done.

People who steal vast sums of money, no registry. People who murder or assault, no registry. Drug dealers, addicts, and drunks, no registry.

I get and agree that sex crimes are heinous and people should know if a predator lives next door, but the registry is like a life sentence imho. And if we can do that to them, why not murderers, thieves, and drug dealers?

As migrant caravan reaches Tijuana, overwhelmed city asks Mexican government for $4 million

https://www.foxnews.com/world/as-migrant...t-for-4-million

TIJUANA – Tijuana has asked the Mexican federal government for $4 million so the city could accommodate thousands of migrants who part of a caravan that for the past month has been making its way to the border.

Almost 2,000 members of the migrant caravan have already descended on this border city – about 5,000 more are expected to arrive in the coming days.

Tijuana has 700 shelter beds that are already full. So a municipal sports complex has turned into a tent city, with shivering migrants hunkering down in tents and sleeping on cots as they wait to determine their next steps.

About 1,000 migrants are sharing one bathroom.

U.S. border agents patrolled the area in helicopters and ATVs while contractors welded razor-wire to the border fence to make sure no one tries to illegal cross into the U.S.

The request for funds from the government comes as tensions between the migrants and local Mexicans has grown tense. On Wednesday, a fight broke out as Mexicans yelled at the migrants: “Go home. We don’t want you here!” Members of the caravan said local police made no attempt to break up the fight.

After pledging to stay together for safety, many exhausted migrants, who spent weeks marching in blazing temperatures, raced ahead in cars or buses, leaving behind thousands of others who were waiting for transportation.

Border agents say they are ready for the mass asylum requests, which could take six months to process.

“We’ve been getting ready before this happened,” Rodney Scott, chief patrol agent of the Border Patrol's San Diego sector, told Fox & Friends. “We have shifted several hundred border patrol areas to here. We will not let people mass across the border here in San Diego.”

While the border is not closed, U.S. officials said members of the caravan are expected to get in line – just like everyone else. It’s unclear right now how long it will take to process thousands of migrants expected to try and cross the border in the coming weeks.

"We will not deny access to the ports of entry,” said Pete Flores, U.S. Customs and Border Protection field office director. “But we may ask undocumented persons to wait until we have the capacity to process them.”

Charlie Kirk is head of Turning Point USA, a wildly racist and anti-Semitic PAC that’s best known for multiple instances of overt racism so bad that Republicans in red states have had to distance themselves from him.

The last time Vambo posted about them, I listed off about a half-dozen articles and screenshots of their senior executives posting things like “I HATE N——S!”

Vambo did his hollow “ah, gee, shucks, I didn’t know they were racist!” routine.

What’s your excuse this time?

Quote:
Back in 2017, New Times obtained screenshots of gross chats among Florida International University's Campus Republicans. They joked about the Charlottesville neo-Nazi attack last year and threatened to "call ICE" on fellow, undocumented students who were begging Congress to pass the DREAM Act.

Now, New Times has received disgusting chats from another FIU conservative group, Turning Point USA (TPUSA) — a far-right, college-focused group led by commentator Charlie Kirk. Members joke about watching underage cartoon pornography and deporting Latina women, and, in the most repugnant case, share racist "Pepe the Frog" memes showing Syrian men raping a white Swedish woman at gunpoint.

FIU College Republican Leader Quits Over "Disgusting Hate" in Group Texts
Chats Show FIU College Republicans Joking About Charlottesville, Deporting Classmates
Leaked Chat Shows FIU Frat Joking About Rape, Sharing Nude Female Pics
In one section, a prominent group member apparently had to warn others not to use racial slurs or reference neo-Nazis too often. One group member asked how "edgy" the person's "meme game" can be in the group chat, titled "TPUSA FIU Fun." A prominent group member responded by telling the user to "avoid using the n word and don't reference Richard Spencer too much and don't Jew hate just cause all the time." [sic]

Spencer is, of course, an avowed white nationalist who regularly quotes Nazi slogans and advocates the creation of a "white ethno-state."

Quote:
Gov. Doug Ducey was not aware that conservative group Turning Point USA had faced repeated claims of racism and anti-Semitism when he appeared at its Arizona facility opening earlier this month, he told reporters Thursday.

Responding to questions after an unrelated news conference, Ducey said he knew the student-founded organization as "a group that was getting onto high school and college campuses and talking to young people about limited government and free markets."

"I'm against any extremism, and I've been outspoken on that," Ducey said. "That's not going to change."

The appearance came three months after the governor faced criticism for appearing in photos with members of Patriot Movement AZ, an activist group known for carrying guns to protests and heckling those in favor of migrant rights, gun control and other causes.

At the time, the Governor's Office said Ducey was unfamiliar with that group and called the photo insignificant.

Turning Point USA, a nonprofit founded in 2012 by then-19-year-old Charlie Kirk, has exploded in the Trump era. With a stated goal of training “students to promote the principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government” but a practical goal of antagonizing as many of those students’ liberal peers as possible, the group is uniquely poised to capitalize on the fresh belligerence of a new generation of young Republicans.

Such as the group’s former national field director, Crystal Clanton, who once texted a fellow Turning Point employee: “I HATE BLACK PEOPLE. Like [expletive] them all . . . I HATE [expletive]. End of story.”[/b][/quote]

Did you "accidentally" quote the leader of a racist and anti-Semitic hate group for a second time?

Turning Point also hosted the “pedophilia is good” guy at an event with Charlie Kirk last year:

Quote:
Turning Point USA also brought conservative firebrand Milo Yiannopoulous to CU’s Boulder campus in 2017. Yiannopoulos, who targeted feminists and liberals during his speech, has since been permanently banned from Twitter after the social media platform took action against racist abuse targeting actress Leslie Jones.

Don’t you guys hate it when you keep accidentally posting content and articles from racists, anti-Semites and perverts over and over and over again?

That’s a normal thing that all of us do, and not just Vambo, right?

Did you just try to “I have black friends” away you posting articles from a racist and anti-Semitic PAC?

What happened to “whoops, I didn’t know they were racist”?
