That was a good game, especially the first half. We finally won one again and I'm happy for our team and fans.

Congratulations to the Browns and Chubb for breaking the record. Feels good to talk about another win.

guys, just remember this:

No turnovers, and no sacks today.

Schobert and Randall coming back were huge for the D, which looked very good again. I was impressed with #97 but he seemed to injure himself celebrating the 2 point conversion sack? Hope he’s ok.

Mayfield looked excellent. Chubb was excellent.

That hit Peppers made to stop their back getting into the end zone was pivotal. Fantastic defensive stand and props to TJ Carrie who I thought had a very good game.

All phases looked sharper, cleaner and Atlanta are a good team.

Garrett seemed to be out more today?

Kitchens, bar that WTF play with Mayfield as receiver, looks excellent as an OC.

Williams deserves huge credit. After last week it would have been easy to see players fold but they beat a team which needed to win. I’m not saying he’s the answer but more performances like that and the continuity it might bring? Those are discussions for after week 17.

Great win, great team performance. Soak it in guys and gals it’s been all too rare.

Atlanta's D is pretty bad, but still a great stat.

I'm more impressed with the D today. They shut down borderline HOF QB with a largely healthy offense in place.

Gregg Williams has his first victory as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns with an impressive 28-16 walloping of the visiting Atlanta Falcons. It was perhaps the most complete game a Cleveland Browns team has churned out in years.

Here are some instant observations from the Browns win.

Freddie Kitchens drew up a nice gameplan

Baker Mayfield came out hot, completing all seven of his passes on the first two drives including a TD strike to Rashard Higgins. Mayfield found six different receivers in those drives.

It was Cleveland’s first touchdown and extra point conversion in the 1st quarter all season. Mayfield wasn’t done, however. The No. 1 overall pick completed his first 13 attempts, and the first incompletion was a deliberate throwaway. Receivers were getting open on creative, well-conceived routes. The effective run game kept the Falcons defense guessing, including the rate NFL appearance of the flexbone formation.

Nick Chubb’s big day
Chubb torched the Falcons defense for over 200 total yards. The second-round rookie was a dynamic force in both the running and passing game, scoring a TD in each. He caught 3 passes for 33 yards, including the touchdown.

Oh yeah, Chubb ran the ball…

That’s the longest run in franchise history. Chubb finished with 176 yards on 20 carries.

Great goal line stand
The Falcons offense had a chance to cut the lead early in the 4th quarter. First and goal from the 1 after a (terrible) pass interference call on T.J. Carrie turned into zero points thanks to a great stand by the Browns defense. Jabrill Peppers made a smashing stop, the pass coverage held and the defensive line won the battles up front to deny the Atlanta offense from cutting into the 28-10 lead.

Energy level
If you didn’t watch the game, it’s hard to describe the difference in the Browns and how they carried themselves against the Falcons. Williams’ team played with a heretofore unknown level of confidence and positive energy.

Players were running to help one another up after plays, even ones which were negative on the Browns ledger. There was visible team chemistry on both sides of the ball. They played like they expected to win from the opening drive. And they did just that.

There was a turnover on that blown trick pass play to Baker.

and if this team comes out flat next year, we've now wasted 2 years without doing our due diligence in having an actual coaching search.

Keeping Hue after 0-16 was disastrous. I don't even have a word for what it would be if we retained Williams right after retaining Jackson the previous year.

Garrett was out quit a bit ?

It is an absolute must to keep Kitchens with Mayfield. You cannot separate them at this point. It would be foolish and unwise.

I wondered if GW was issuing some sort of statement to him or if he was just being doubled and I didn't notice him out there.

yea, but we also got two highly important players back on defense in Randall and schobert.

This was probably the most winnable game we have the rest of the season, with only two more at home. This discussion is extremely premature.

That is why I started with an "if" I'm not anointing anyone yet, just stating that "if" this team keeps playing like this and win a few more games, a change would be a set back IMO

I was just trying to remember one time the Browns were up 18, and for how much game clock.

Literally can't remember the last time I saw a normal, real game from this team.

Lets see what happens the rest of the season... I love what I have seen but it's a short sample. Not saying Kitchens isn't a viable OC - I am saying let's see it over the rest of the season.

Same with Williams - I never thought in a million years he was HC material. Too bombastic and too "all or nothing" .... and it's too early to tell but it looks like he has the team playing with commitment and attention to detail/execution.

Aside from the win and the improved play - the single biggest reason I am impressed with Williams .... a huge reduction in penalties and the way we hurt ourselves. I think it was in the 3rd Q we gave up our first penalty? There was a series with 3 penalties in a row, Browns, Falcons and then the Browns.... don't underestimate that and that can be directly attributed to coaching.

I'm 62 and its the first time I have been this excited about a QB and a team since the 1980's ... GO BROWNS

I understand, and It wasn't my intention to single you out. More of a word of caution. We have some really tough games ahead of us. It'll be interesting to see how we do against the Bengals next, particularly in light of how badly they got smoked today.

I'm not saying we'll do it, but it will be possible to win out the rest of the way.

I am. I thought he was a decent acquisition for a 4th rounder but still overrated. NOPE...he's been turrible.

Absolutely not. I love the Jarvis signing, and I’m glad he’s on the team.

Get a number one in here and I think Landry will flourish.

Right now they are trying to force him the ball to keep him happy which isn't good. But he's a good player and will be even more valuable next year if we can secure a legit #1.
