Oldcold, if you would like a similar analysis of the errors and misconceptions in your post, I can do that for you.
But there will be a price to pay.
First, and by no means last, you will delete your response to me wherein you quoted the troll. If you EVER quote that virulent pustule to me again, you will disappear with it to the silent kiddy table where that garbage belongs.
I don't like trolls, they are dishonest lying sacks of crap that are worthless, useless wastes of space.
There's more, but that's a start. I gave you all fair warning a long time ago, as I have done many times and many places, you wanna play little-boy playground games, you will not like the way I play.

This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever read on a message board.

I wouldn’t be surprised if onle day I see his mugshot on national news and get to say “Oh, yeah, that guy threatened to rape me with an ice cream cone on a football message board a handful of times.”

He will be banned from Baskin Robbins
“Police reported that the local man was carried out in handcuffs while yelling “You *will* delete your last post!” to the Baskin Robbins employee.”
I think a corporation, just like any individual citizen, should act in whatever manner they think best serves their best interests, within the law.
That means that if they employ someone, they pay that person for their services, whatever they think those services are worth. If the worker has the belief that their services are worth a higher amount, they are free to find someone else willing to pay that amount. When they fail to find any such employer, they should come to the realization that they, individually, need to either find a way to make themselves more valuable to an employer, or change their lifestyle such that they can live on what they can earn.
They are, of course, free to cry and whine and moan about how they are being treated unfairly, and the corporation, or individual, is not in any way required to listen.
The world don't owe you a livin', son.
Corporations provide jobs, and the products we all use. They do this in the most efficient, cost-effective manner possible. We all benefit from that cost-effectiveness. This is the reason that so many people from all over the world want to live here, and so very, very few of them choose to move to Government-controlled, socialist economies. Such nations suffer dramatic losses in productivity, because they fail to tie rates of compensation to the actual productive value of the employee.
Many corporations invest huge sums of capital into their local communities, and the nation as a whole. They do this by choice, not by dictate. What you, or I, think they should do is not relevant. If a person or corporation wants to spend their time, effort, energy, and resources renaming a mountain on a map, they are free to do so. If they want to tell me that I am required to assist in such an endeavor, I am free to laugh them out of the room.
One of my local grocery stores has put millions of dollars into college scholarship funds. You did not do that, I did not do that, government did not do that, a corporation did.

Nah, he’s more of a Mr. Softy
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson.
The article discusses patent registrations, HELD BY FOREIGN SUBSIDIARIES. This would be a different discussion.
Companies own foreign subsidiaries for a wide variety of reasons. Almost all of which directly involve increased profits. Many countries understand the value of productive assets operating inside their borders, and move to attract them by taking a smaller percentage of what those companies earn.
Many socialist types look at profitable companies as simply a source of revenue they can milk until it runs dry. Then they will whine because the company closes its doors or moves elsewhere. Taxes are a cost of doing business, and a business, just like any individual, will act to reduce costs and increase profits.
You want companies to stay in the US, it's real simple. Make sure there is a benefit to them for doing so. Lower their taxes, as detailed in the article you posted. Provide a labor force with a good work ethic. Protect their factories and property rights. Offer them a stable currency, an accessible market, good infrastructure. Understand that their decision is a simple calculation. What you personally want or believe is a good thing is not relevant.
"Do not bind the mouths of the kine that treads the grain"
China has virtually no respect for any patent laws, of any kind. Browse Alibaba for cheap knock-offs of US patented items. Trade agreements do not change this, the knowledge that if they do it to us, we will do it to them, does, coupled with sufficient patented properties to make the exchange roughly equivalent.
You could make an effort to learn some basic economics, or just continue throwing insults and name calling, whatever blows your dress up.
Oh, and "work ethic" is not some hidden dog whistle for racism, it is simple, plain, easily understandable english for ............... WORK ETHIC.
lol what in the world is all of this? I did not move the goal post, you incorrectly inferred (a common occurrence with you) what I was talking about. In your defense, I didn't say "foreign subsidiaries" in my one sentence reply, but you're used to iffy context clues
Yes, many companies own foreign subsidiaries for a wide variety of reasons, although all of which relate directly to profit, however product share, opening investment opportunities and so on and so forth, are also good reasons to hold foreign subsidiaries. However, the reason it's discussed in a thread about tax cuts and cheats, is because we're talking about tax revenue and lost tax revenue by the US. Registering important IP in a foreign country, under a foreign subsidiary allows them to pay tax rates lower than they would if they had listed their patent registration through the US, as they now only pay taxes on the royalties themselves. These tax breaks and loopholes are what people call "cheats" as people view them as an unfair tax advantages that only a subset of the population and corporations can use. Let's take a quick look at that article that OCD posted, where you casually glossed over the fact that 5% of fortune 500 companies pay no taxes. Let's take a closer look at those industries:
Quote:
These industry-specific subsidies mean that the goodies were not evenly distributed. Utilities logged an effective tax rate of just 3.1 percent over the eight-year period. Industrial machinery, telecommunications and oil, gas and pipeline companies paid roughly 11.5 percent. Internet services paid 15.6 percent. In just two sectors — health care and retail — companies paid more than 30 percent of their profits in federal income tax.
So yes, there are unfair tax breaks in the law that many companies take advantage of, because it's not afforded to other companies. Retail and Healthcare cannot hide their profits behind crazy tax laws like tech can.
A lot of tax unfairness happens due to the leverage that large companies have over local governments. For example, look at your example with that Honda Plant. While you're right that whatever crappy town just gained a bunch of jobs, and it's good for the local economy, what about non-rural localities with their own booming industry? We recently just saw Amazon, just get two gigantic tax breaks for their new headquarters where the real estate market and local economies were already humming along. What will happen to the local residents? The transportation system? While caring about numbers is cool, we don't live in the Matrix. We still have to care about living things.
I have no idea what your idiotic rant about socialism is about. It sounds like a Fox News synopsis ran by Glenn Beck's sentient chalk board. I know you have the political viewpoint of a 2nd grader ("My IQ test proves I'm smart"), socialism also revolves around public ownership and not just taxation, but that'll take too much time to explain to you. You should look into the Nordic states though
What does it say about the concept of capitalism if it can only thrive when certain people get unfair benefits that other companies can't get? That's what I want to know. Although, you should tell me how the US is supposed to grow it's workforce. I'm very curious about what your answer could possibly be.
China has no respect for IP and patent laws. That's why I was clowning on your dumb response. Still couldn't tell I was joking. I wonder why that is.
Nelson, I'm curious what you know about economics. In discussing with you, I see that you clearly skimmed the Adam Smith 4 Idiots book, but nothing you've said has been anything but rehashed ideas you could find in any Fox News article. Half of it isn't even right.
As far as "name calling" and blowing stuff up one's dress, do you forget your constant fits of histrionics every time you lose an argument on here? Eve's Soaps aren't nearly as dramatic as you are with your insults that get you banned. In fact, I had thought you had gotten banned the other day, after our discussion was deleted and I felt a dryness in my nether regions, where your mouth is known to visit.
Also, no one said anything about racism or anything about that. I know it's hard for you to keep race out of the discussion, but please understand we're talking about corporations here. Although, you're easily confused, so I'm really just wasting my time explaining any of this to you.
While you did not mention foreign subsidiaries in your post, the article that you posted, did. I assumed you read what you posted, I realize that is an unrealistic expectation. However, there is nothing inferred, you posted the link.
People can call the moon "green cheese", but that does not make it so. The definition of "cheat" is "to break the rules", if what you are doing is allowed in the rules, then it is not "cheating". As a black man in college, you were able to get in with lower test scores, which clearly seems to be the case. Did you cheat?
Different industries are, guess what, DIFFERENT. They have different expenses and costs of doing business. Therefore, different tax breaks are offered to encourage efforts in those particular areas. It's fairly simple.
Yes, look into the Nordic states with an almost total lack of ethnic diversity and a very good work ethic, compared to many other countries.
The concept of capitalism has produced a higher standard of living that any other economic system known to man. That does not mean it is perfect, just that it is the best system yet devised.
I learned economics from reading MANY books, taking Multiple college courses, seeing the examples in the real world, and learning from successful people, not academics who have never succeeded in the real world. I have read some Adam Smith, but not the one you mention, that would be the second time you have "inferred" where I learn things from, which is, again, incorrect.
And, AGAIN, you devolve into name-calling, personal attacks, and insults. That really is the best you have, isn't it? I really, really am not at interested in ANY of your "regions", nether or otherwise.
The quote about "work ethic" was referencing a statement made by YOU. YOU bring up racism anytime you can, YOU insert it where it does not belong.
You have also stated that 2 is a larger number than 3, and also that it constitutes a majority of 10, and you want to talk about ME being confused?
Grow up, learn to read, learn to count, learn to think, stop parroting the trolls, then get back to me with a better attempt at something that sounds vaguely intelligent.
So you're still on here trying to pretend that giving Corporations the vast portion of a trillion dollar income tax cut when their effective tax rate was only about 17% to begin with......
And that giving them corporate welfare so they don't have to help support the communities they move into are both good things. lmao
Let the little guy bear the burden and the fat cats reap all of the benifits. After all, it's the American way, right?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
You incorrectly inferred what my post was about and made a fool out of yourself. If you want to continue debating whether or not you were incorrect, then you can do so by yourself. If you want to have a conversation about the issues let me know. Until then stop crying and moaning about people insulting you and calling you names. The latter is a serious offense, as it's against the board rules. You lying about someone calling you a name does nothing for your cause.
In general, just because something might offend YOUR personal sensibilities doesn't mean the post is an insult. I'm sure you feel offended a lot in life, that probably means that you just don't like the truth. This couldn't be made more evident, by the way you lash out at others like a 3 year old, when things don't go your immediate way. Since you seem to want to avoid this discussion by kvetching about how you're treated on the forum, I would suggest a strong look inwards. Maybe the person who is constantly insulting others, is attracting a lot of insults as well.
Now to the meat of your post. Yes, I realize what the definition of "cheat" is. Clearly you do not. I suggest you get re-acquainted with the definition before you continue to argue this asinine point. I know many people on the spectrum cannot understand language on a figurative level and only understand it in concrete terms. I explained to you both the definition and how people use the term, but here you are incorrectly stating your thoughts. When you hear the phrase "He cheated Death", do you think someone is actually playing a card game with the grim reaper?
Like I told you before, when you incorrectly inferred crucial information in your last post; you can only be the smartest man in the room when you're correct. I'm not Black, I've never claimed to be black. Now why did you think I was black? Because you perceive me as lower intelligence? Remember when you posted bunk studies to show white people had a higher IQ than black people? I know many people do.
Different industries are different, that's some amazing insight on your part. Probably the only correct thing you've said in over a week. Do you happen to understand the quickest growing industries and quickest dying industries (figuratively dying of course didn't want you to spend 2 hours trying to work that out) and what are the major contributors to it? Do you think Amazon's value is deemed so high because people think that they're just a tech company? Now do you think they're using the tax advantages given to tech companies to expand into other industries. Are you aware of how Amazon approaches market share vs. profits? Probably not. I'd explain it to you, but it'd be even a bigger waste of my time than this reply.
If you were to say, think, which is clearly a rare occurrence for you, what do you think makes nordic socialism so successful? Public ownership on goods or lack of "ethnic diversity". Also, here you go throwing race into things once again. I always find that the people who race bait the most, love to interject it in places it has no place being. For example, you called me black, just to call me stupid, now you're bringing up the nordic countries "lack of ethnic diversity" in a conversation about public ownership of goods. Are YOU sure you don't want to discuss race? Because it really sounds like you do.
The concept of capitalism produces things? Not capitalism itself? It's concept? What concept? Competition? Yes, capitalism has produced a higher standard of living than feudalism or mercantilism, but a quick look at Europe over the past 60 years and a look at the US over the same time period, and it's no question where the higher standard of living is. Hint: Only one country is crowdfunding their constituents medical bills.
Clearly you did not learn anything about economics, if you don't even know about common tax breaks and have only read "some Adam Smith" (come on, dude's only written a few thousand pages). Both historically and currently, you have the same amount of knowledge about capitalism as our coral reefs do. Being adjacent to a concept doesn't make you knowledgeable about it. I suggest doing some entry level reading directly from the source and not whatever "X and Y for Idiots" title you skimmed. College courses are cool, I guess, but PragerU isn't accredited
As far as your comment about work ethic and race, you mistake me for someone who cares about you. I only remember one interaction with you Nelson, where you gleefully boasted how you "out read" your ex-wife's divorce lawyer. And I only remember that because it was probably the most depressing post I've ever read on this forum. Most people have the self-respect to hire their own lawyer, not quit their job to spend their time quarreling with a divorce lawyer like they were your wife's new lover. It was so sad. I was in tears from both crying and laughing. Other than that, I can't remember more than a handful of your posts where you go full spaz and threaten to rape someone with ice cream. If you want me to start remembering what you said, you're going to need to get suspended more.
You made a post stating that corporations register patents in foreign countries in order to avoid taxes. This is incorrect, nothing to infer here, I posted the accurate cause.
You then modified what you had at first incorrectly stated, inserting foreign subsidiaries into the equation. I then responded to this second, very different assertion.
I do not get offended by the assertions of morons.
The tax code, unlike death, has plain and definite rules. Acting within a defined set of rules is not cheating.
I do not think black people are stupid, clearly this is a concern of yours. I had thought you had, indeed, identified yourself as such. It is possible I was incorrect, it is rare but it does happen.
You spoke of some corporations getting tax breaks that other corporations can not get. I had already explained this in terms of corporate size, the other avenue by which this can be achieved is industry-specific deductions. Amazon's approach is get bigger and make more money. Nothing earth-shaking here. I rarely spend more than 30 seconds trying to figure out anything you say.
Gosh, maybe that would explain why all the immigrants want to go to Europe instead of the US. Socialist medicine IS crowdfunding medical care, just not on a voluntary basis.
Socialistic economies do not publicly own goods. They attempt to publicly own means of production of those goods. Nobody is sharing their refrigerator.
Never took an entry-level course anywhere and my degree is from Ohio U. Dean's list all 7 quarters, 3.89 GPA. Not really interested in theoretical economics, I learned it in the real world in the family business and many others.
I don't really give a crap whether you live or die. I beat my ex-wife's lawyer over 30-40,000 dollars because I spent 5 minutes checking the law. I never said anything about quitting my job, this certainly was not a time-consuming affair. Having dealt with a few lawyers, I determined that I could do a better job for less money. What you find amusing or sad is absolutely no concern of mine.
