My post was implying that the prevention, not the treatment of injuries is a problem. Same goes for staph infections.

How are they not looking out for this when so many of our players have had it?

Or is it just unpredictable. I am ignorant to the prevention of these types of things.

I thought my post made it clear....LOTS of people get this infection after being in the hospital and believe me, prevention is preached and researched constantly to try to lessen the numbers. A few football players are just a few out of hundreds of thousands of people, just because they play football doesn't make them immune....in fact, they are probably at greater risk than the general population.

Would I be wrong for hoping he returns to Maryland and has the procedure done at Johns Hopkins?

I assure you that they don't have any less incidents of staph infections than any other hospital. Every year about a half a million people will get a staph infection after being in the hospital. Somewhere around 30% of the healthy population walk around with this bacteria on there skin or in their nose. It's when it gets into a wound, etc., that it becomes a big problem. Obviously, you see with that many people carrying it around how difficult it is to combat.
Actually my comment had more to do with making a joke about superstition than medical fact Dr. Jules....... You actually think I would want DQ treated just blocks from Rat bird stadium by ratbird fan doctors and nurses? I don't think so...

Sorry for not jumping into the staph infection discussion, but I would like to point out that it is a FACT that the Browns are still practicing in full pads. I believe this is a mistake.

I really do believe in conditioning and working the players hard during camps, but I think you should back-off as the season progresses. Bodies wear down, especially in the long NFL season, and tired players are more prone to injuries.

Did we pick anyone up to take Jackson's spot on the active roster? I haven't seen anyone added to the practice squad, but I notice we seem to have a new OL on the active roster -- Fred Matua.

Rob Smith (OG-C) was moved from the practice squad to the roster.

Welcome back, Joe, we missed you!
