We're at home, even with that loss in Houston we are still in the playoff hunt.
Barely, but it's better than being dead.

The Texans humbled us, but we still showed signs of being a good team. The Panthers can be beaten.

Bake has to keep doing Bake things, our D has to tighten up a little and protect the house.

5-7-1

I hope we win, wouldn't be surprised if we lose. Cam is a good QB, McCaffrey is a stud, Rivera is a good coach and they'll be ready for us. IMHO, they're a better team than their record indicates. Losing four in a row will have them motivated because they are legitimately in the Wild Card race. On the other hand, we desperately want that next win.

24-20 Browns

Carolina is in a tail spin. Coaching and front office rumors, new ownership and just an awful defense.

Not sure what to expect from their offense, but we should crush their defense. Could be high scoring, could be Browns in a blowout.

you had a good run Hank.

close game ahead. they are a ball control type offense. I'll say it's in the high 20s

It's another tough game ... they have a lot of talent despite their recent woes. Assuming we can somewhat limit their run game - I think the game will probably be determined by the play of Cam Newton ... I do not think he is a very good QB. He is an elite and outstanding athlete who can win games by himself and can equally lose games. He doesn't throw with a lot of accuracy, can miss wide open receivers ... he does not throw with anticipation or throw receivers open ... but he is a big, fast guy who is super tough to bring down and he extends plays routinely. McCaffrey and Kuechley are probably the best two players on their team.

Hoping for a win - not expecting a win.

This game is EXTREMELY WINNABLE ... there not near as bad as the bungles but are not near as good as the texans either ...

Last week was a test to gauge where we were at vs a decent team ...

This week is more a pass/fail ... losing this one would be a failure as opposed to the measuring stick last weeks loss was ...

This is a great spot for the Browns and I expect a win.

A loss would be a step in the wrong direction development wise.

This one should be interesting.

We have shown the ability to beat bad teams - Jets and Bengals.

We have shown the ability to get a win over a better team - Baltimore.

We have shown the ability to beat a team that is on our level - Atlanta.

That is progress.

We have also shown the ability to lose to teams who aren't good - Oakland and Tampa.

That is part of growing up.

I honestly expect a win as well. If it's a loss like last week, that's regression IMO

We need to start ready, especially at home. And we need to challenge more on offense and mix it up some. And BM defines our game. We need him to be busier than in the first half last week. Late and poor in his picks. We should be able to do more this week IMO.

Defense needs a rush that pounds on them. Meet at the QB; get off the blocks and stop leaning on people. Finish the blitz.

I don't see a reason in the world why we can't win this game. I think we match up well with them and Cam isn't all that and a bag of chips as some would make him out to be. He's a hit or miss guy. He's Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. And during this season he's been far more tame than anything else.

I agree it is a very winnable game. And Ron isn't going to be HC fore the Panthers next year so there has to be some stress and distraction going on .... but we are still a young team with a lot of rookies that might all be about to hit a wall - we're still learning how to win - we are still changing the culture - it's still the NFL .... maybe I sounded more pessimistic than I feel in the first post. When I expected a win against the Bengals I had $100 on the team (money line) ... I might put some $ on the Browns this week but it won't be $100.... that might put things into context.

Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers - 12/9/18 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Carolina Panthers (6-6) at Cleveland Browns (4-7-1)

NFL Football: Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm (FirstEnergy Stadium)
The Line: Cleveland Browns +1 -- Over/Under: 47 See the Latest Odds
TV: FOX
The Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns meet Sunday in NFL action at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Carolina Panthers need to snap a four-game losing streak to get a game above a .500 record and remain in the NFC playoff picture. The Carolina Panthers have lost four of their last five road games. Cam Newton is completing 69.5 percent of his passes for 2,999 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Newton has two or more touchdown passes in each of his last 11 games. Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore have combined for 1,272 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while Devin Funchess has 42 receptions. The Carolina Panthers ground game is averaging 140.8 yards per contest, and McCaffrey leads the way with 863 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Carolina is allowing 25.5 points and 353 yards per game. Luke Kuechly leads the Carolina Panthers with 100 tackles, Mario Addison has eight sacks and Donte Jackson has four interceptions.

Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers - 12/9/18 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction
David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns look to play spoiler at this point after losing five of their last seven games. The Cleveland Browns have won three of their last five home games. Baker Mayfield is completing 63.3 percent of his passes for 2,639 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Mayfield has two or more touchdown passes in five of his last six games. Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway have combined for 1,205 receiving yards and five touchdowns while David Njoku has 44 receptions. The Cleveland Browns ground game is averaging 120.6 yards per contest, and Nick Chubb leads the way with 694 yards and seven touchdowns. Defensively, Cleveland is allowing 26 points and 412.8 yards per game. Jamie Collins Sr. leads the Cleveland Browns with 79 tackles, Myles Garrett has 11.5 sacks and Denzel Ward has three interceptions.

The Panthers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games in December, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Browns are 8-19 ATS in their last 27 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in December and 16-37-1 ATS in their last 54 games overall. The Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. The under is 14-5 in Browns last 19 home games. The under is 4-1 in Panthers last 5 road games.

The Carolina Panthers are coming off a brutal loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they're now being outscored by 8.4 points during their four-game losing streak. The Cleveland Browns didn't look great in their loss to the Houston Texans, but they've played their best football at home and continue to compete regardless of what the score says. The Carolina Panthers have failed to cover five of their last six games when a favorite of any kind. The Cleveland Browns have split their last eight games ATS when an underdog of any kind. I said last week that I was done with the Panthers if they lost to Tampa Bay, and, well... The Panthers are only good at home and are being outscored by 13 points per contest in their last three road games. That fun, high energy the Panthers they play with at home is missing outside of Carolina. The Browns have also been pretty tough at home this season. I like the Browns to win this game outright.

Yeah, but even when cam is bad, he puts up two - 3 tds via pass or rush combined. Hes a freight train no matter what in a game, and if hes not beating you in the air, he will beat you with his legs. I think he is all that, just doesn't have the greatest offense around him.

Edit to add:

Carolina may be on a slide right now, but they are still fighting for a playoff push. I expect them to bring their A game, because they see this as a game they can easily turn their slide of losing into a W. they will be amped up to play us right now.

I think this is a 50/50 game.

Caroline is full blown spiral right now, but with that, they could be looking at this game licking their chops to get us on the field thinking its a good spot to stop the bleeding. I can easily see them ready to play and put up monster numbers.

I think our Defense will struggle against keeping Cam and McCaffrey contained. So much so, I am torn who to start in fantasy - Cam or Goff.

I think if we can control the ball and score early twice, we can force their hand and make them air it out. This is a must IMO.

I can't really say I disagree with a thing you said. I'm just not convinced they can beat us by putting up 21 points or less. In their last four games they have only put up over 21 points in one game.

And while I agree they are in desperate need of a win, I don't believe that as a team they felt any less desperate last week or even the week before.

I look for a helluva good game either way.

yeah, I guess I don't see is as more desperate per say, although the clock is ticking on them being alive in the playoffs and a loss this week I believe would all but sure keep them out.

I think I more or less lean towards them looking at us as a way to stop their 4 game losing streak and will be amped up to play us and get back on track.

Either way, as long as we are competitive and show improvement, I will be happy.

That's not really Baker ..... just so everyone knows.

It's a "parody account". It's also kind of clever.

Mitchell is to be back for us, I believe. We are tougher with a stronger secondary. Closer to a defense what can get itself off the field quicker.

We have more upside as far as improving from last week over their game. If we play two second halves, we win. Baker Mayfield needs to show up right early on. And I really feel we have it in our huddle to get this done. The game is in our huddle.

Home at the Land. Go, Browns!

"Jamie Collins Sr. leads the Cleveland Browns with 79 tackles"

I read this from above and was stunned.. When did he get all these tackles.. In the first couple games ? Seems he just stands around most of the time..

Should be a close game, could go either way. I'm curious to see how the defense plays the running game because Cam in there makes things more difficult.

I'll take the Browns in a close one.. 27-21

Not sticking up for him, but you do realize that he is in coverage quite a bit, thus making a tackle downfield.
