A cut by the steelers of someone I wanted us to draft.
Steelers | McBean released Sat, 1 Sep 2007 14:15:56 -0700
Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have released DL Ryan McBean.
I liked McBean's athleticism in college. Believe it was a numbers game in pit. Thus far, this is one I would like us to go after.
eo - Not sure if you saw that Huston (K) was cut by the Giants.
Statistics are like a bikini; what they show is interesting, but what they hide is vital. Drive for show (1st round), Putt for dough (rest of draft).

Wrong thread. It will get lost in this thread since it's pretty much done.

Tank Johnson is someone they should take a look at after his suspension. He has a history, but they are mistakes of stupidy not habit. We need D-Lineman. Give him a chance make it clear, one goof and your gone. He could be a real find if he stays away from trouble.

Another thing that surprises me are some of the former Ravens that have been cut by their teams.
Ed Hartwell was cut by the Bengals and Will Demps was cut by the Giants.
Eye openers to me, we might be able to use Demps as a backup to Pool. Hartwell's probably not in our plans, however.
I guess you tend to be overhyped when you play next to Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and feed off them.

Reggie McNeal, WR and Quentin Moses DL (I think) would be worth looking at. Darius Walker and Antonio Pittman are a couple of RB names that we could look at but I'm not sure they would be upgrades over our current depth? In fact, I'd rather see Barclay back in a Browns uni.

Quentin Moses got cut? Wow, I'd take a look at him as a 3-4 rush linebacker in a heartbeat.

I said in another thread that it wouldn't hurt to bring in Pittman. I do agree I hope Barclay is at least resigned to the practice squad. He showed promise vs Harrison not showing us jack. Maybe he had a terrific camp or something we fans can't see.
Our honor defend, we will fight to the end, for OHIO! GO BUCKS!

I´d like us to take a look at Falcons cut DT/NT Shropshire...they seem to have a deep-DL unit...they also cut DE Carrington, who is tall but not heavy enough for our 3-4...both started games for them

The one guy stood out to me was a safety.
Here is his bio coming out of college:
Darnell Bing - cut by San Francisco
Position: Safety School: USC Status: Junior Height: 6-2 Weight: 220 40-Yard Dash: 4.45 (EST)
Positives: Darnell Bing has prototypical size for an NFL safety, with very, very good speed and hitting power to complement it. He is above-average in coverage, although not great in it. Bing has tons of upside, which is impressive given his current ability. He is not a bit afraid to come up to the line of scrimmage and blitz, and can lay the lumber on the ball carrier anywhere on the field.
Negatives: Bing has never been able to put together a healthy season, seemingly always being hurt and missing some time. To his credit, he plays through a lot of injuries, but they effect his play more than they should. His coverage ability isn't what it could be with his speed and athleticism, but that may be in part because of those injuries.
Overview: As an incredibly highly-decorated recruit out of high school, there have always been high expectations for Darnell Bing, which he may have lived up to, and then some, if not for his injuries. Some feel that because of his speed, he will make a better free safety in the NFL, but his closing and hitting abilities lend him better to the strong safety spot, especially with his occasional problems in coverage. He has the potential to be a top-15 pick in the draft if he could stay healthy for a year, and will be an instant upgrade to the safety position for many teams.

Quentin Moses phone should be lighting up right now. He tried out for a DE spot in a 4-3 and didn't make it, however I really do believe he could be groomed as a pass rushing LB ala Wimbley. However with the emergence of Peek and Thompson having a good camp I don't think we'll go after him even though I think we should.
Antonio Pittman would be a nice addition as well, he had a lot of potential coming out and I had even seen drafts with him going early in Round 2. The Saints were just deep at RB. Darius Walker has been cut twice this season so far, I just don't think he has the stuff to cut it out in the NFL. Ciatrick Faison was released. He avgeraged 5.5 yards a carry last season but in a very limited role. Doubt hes any better.
Phil Dawson is on thin ice. If in the first few games he is shankin kicks I'm giving Josh Huston a call ASAP.
Kimo von O got cut but signed with Philly. Anthony Schlegel was cut but we have a lot of depth at LB.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I would like to look at DT Jimmy Kennedy. Wasn't he awesome a few years back for the Rams? Former first round pick, 6'4" 320lbs.
I would also like to take a look at Pittman.

He was claimed off waivers. Which means the Browns had the opportunity to pick him up but passed. Weren't you pimping this guy for our 2nd rounder this year?

Not sure about that. Where were we on the waiver list?

Just because I love 'em and would like to see him stay in Ohio...Antonio Pittman...or I agree...why not Tank? The only part of the D that seems to need help is the front three, why not take a chance with him and sure it up a bit? A defensive minded coach like Romeo would love to have that kind of talent fall into his lap.

I think he's better than Harrison. I'd do it.
Tyler is a one gap tackle. He's not a fit in the 3-4.
