I think its plausible that you make stuff up and try to bully others.

All I said was I support BakerBrown being a fan.

And you had tears about it.

He can be a fan if he wants. Not because "Vers on Dawgtalkers" gives him permission to be one.

The only one drunk here is you.

I yi yi yi.

I never said he can't be a fan. It was he who told me to go root for another team.

But whatever.........I'm out.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Whatever, dude. It's called an adjustment period.

But really, what kind of fan seeks to disqualify others from cheering for his own team because of a misplaced word?

I can only hope this is the sort of illness that ensues when one becomes so used to losing that it's second nature to shove away support when it arrives.

If so, it will be cured.

Go Browns!

Can’t you see that you’re a bit on the condisendung side? When you say things that lead us to believe you think we, the Browns, need your support, it can get a little contentious. We don’t need support. We don’t need a bandwagon. We’ve been fans for years and don’t need anyone else to join in. Don’t get me wrong. I have no issue with you coming onboard but I can also see how you’ve riled up some of us lifers with your condicending tone.
...And the ‘go root for other teams’ crap is just that. Crap. Do yourself a favor and put that trope away.

Welcome.

You're free to root for any player or any team just as much as anybody else is. I hope to see you around.

Imagine if somebody tried to tell Baker Mayfield which team he could and could not root for. Ha!

The narrative is being turned around. No one told him to go root for another team.

He told me to go root for another team.

I have zero problem w/him rooting for the Browns. I never said anything close to that. In fact, I never even spoke to him until AFTER he told me to go root for another team. I believe he suggested the Vikings because Cousins is religious or something like that.

So please, don't make him a victim.

I can't bring myself to care much beyond what I wrote above. You're a loyal Browns fan and if you get annoyed by a newcomer telling you to go root for another team, I can understand that.

Sometimes I find others play the "rooted for an extremely incompetent team for so long card" too aggressively, using it to shame people who didn't have the same passion for a sports team as they did. I also find this distasteful.

Root for whoever you want to. Seriously who cares, there are real problems in the world to be worried about.. who roots for which sports teams and why is not one of them.

Anyway.. let's get this back on topic. https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/br...ornia-wildfires

Baker Mayfield putting down football, picking up softball bat to raise money for victims of California wildfires

PEPPERDINE, Ca. — Baker Mayfield will be getting back out on the field, but not the football turf.

Mayfield will be playing in a celebrity softball game to raise money for victims of the California wildfires and the shooting in Thousand Oaks.

Other celebrities playing in the game include Adam Sandler, Charlie sheen, Rob Riggle, Rainn Wilson and more.

If you're interested in donating money to the victims of those events, click here .

I should have known better that to try and reason w/you. I don't care that he said it. I addressed it and dropped it. You and Eve are the ones defending the dude like he is a victim, thus you obviously cared. Now you don't. rolleyes

BakerBrown doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who wants or needs sympathy. And I did make it a point to acknowledge that you're a loyal Browns fan and it would be understandable to be annoyed by a newcomer telling you to go root for another team. It's actually kind of funny.. the whole silliness of it all.

Vers, I'm not one to pat myself on the back, but if you're having a hard time reasoning with me, that might something you should think about. I don't normally have trouble finding common ground with people.. just saying.

Anyway, what do you think about Baker (yet again) using his time and fame to raise money for a good cause? How do you think that reflects on Baker Mayfield, the person?

Bottom line is VERS said nothing wrong, and even after "johnny-come-lately" basically told him to jump off a bridge, Vers still didn't take it to heart. So yeah, turning things around to make it seem like BakerBrown is the victim is absurd. A "fan" that jumped onboard because Baker came to town telling a die-hard, lifelong Browns fan to go root for another team is even more absurd.

This may be the Wild, Wild West but it's still our saloon. BB jumped in with both guns blazing... Ain't got no problem with that as long as he doesn't cry when shots are fired back.

Thanks Fate. Here is the thing......I'm not even upset that the dude said what he did. I replied to him right after he said it, but I forgot about it because it is no big deal. I don't think a man's character is defined by what team he roots for.

I also have no problems w/that guy rooting for the Browns. I could care less.

I just didn't like a couple of posters trying to change the narrative as if he is some kind of victim.

Now, I hope we can drop this nonsense.

Not a victim at all, Versatile Dog.

My absurd rebuke of you was almost as absurd as your rebuke of the very person who is turning the franchise around.

Absurdity begets absurdity.

Time to set aside your vendetta, swallow your pride, and jump on the Baker Bandwagon. If Baker pulls a Favre and starts texting dick-pics to interns, then please by all means take up your cross again . . .

And allow me to once again remind you that I declared my allegiance to the Browns when they were 1-31 over their previous two seasons. So every time you call me a band-wagon fan, you look silly.

From Urban Dictionary:

Bandwagon Fan

"Most common in sports, a bandwagon fan is a fan of a team simply because they are the reigning champions/have the most championships/doing the best at the moment. The second these fans notice that they're team is starting to do poorly, they'll jump ship and hop on the bandwagon of a different team that is doing well. As a result, they will have little to no knowledge of their current team and the true fans of said team will hate them for it.

Bandwagon fans are typically fans of the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Duke basketball, and Alabama football."

So, technically speaking, it's not even possible for a Browns bandwagon fan to exist at all at this point. It was still a losing season.

And yet, here I am, despite another year of failure: Go Browns!

Now . . . shall we be friends?

About Baker:

I think as time goes by, and it becomes known how much effort he's put into raising money for the Special Olympics, victims of the wildfires, Providence House, etc. we'll realize he's a really good dude. He comes off a bit brash at times but I don't remember that ever hurting anybody.

The second edition of this thread should have a compendium of all the good deeds he has done. It's great when a professional athlete gives back to the community, and Baker should be commended for that.

I didn't say that you were claiming to be a victim. Man!

Haus and Eve were painting you in that light as if I attacked you and said you should not be a fan of this team. I never did any such thing.

I have asked that we drop this topic more than once. I really wish people would stop putting words into my mouth.

I have already posted my feelings on Baker and they have not changed. I am tired of the gang mentality on here and no longer wish to discuss it w/any of you. People have different thoughts on things and I am fine w/who I am as a person and do not need validation from those that are questioning my character.

Have a nice life.

I havent ever painted him as a victim. All I said is he can be a Browns fan if he feels like it. How does that make him a vicitm?

The only one playing the victim card is you. With how you are mortally wounded that some guy on a message board told you to go root for another team. Woe is Vers! Woe is Vers! The horror!

Agreed. We are now just going in circles.

BakerBrown...welcome. The best thing new fans can do is learn their history about the team and respect & understand why some of the team's fan base may feel jaded and a wee bit cynical about folks jumping on board now that it appears we finally have it figured out and going in the right direction. We have been the laughing stock & punching bag for far too long and it will take some time for some of us to warm to the newcomers who most likely took their own punches and laughed at our expense. Hell, Cowherd continues to publicly get his jabs in and refuses to let his ego admit he is wrong.

But, at the end of the day...all of us who choose to wear orange & brown want the same thing. A successful team that are finally winning and bringing fun back to Cleveland football.

Welcome & GO BROWNS!
