I remember reading something about Gregg Williams being willing to help the franchise wherever they want him..even special teams coach.
I got the impression that Gregg just wants to be part of the Browns turn around and is flexible according to franchise needs. Or prefers to stay in a paycheck instead of moving from team to team.

man I am not onboard with Kitchens as HC..I guess we'll see if Dorsey deems it so. Hope everyone remembers Dorsey is a personnel guy, never hired a coach in his life

So what DC has ties to Kitchens? Blake Williams.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Per Ruiter: Per league rules #Browns may not interview Kevin Stefanski for anything but head coaching job since he already is an OC with #Vikings unless Minnesota gives permission otherwise because he is still under contract which does expire soon.

You should.....you should. This reminds me of a poster from many years ago. His sig was a publicity photo of Roger Brown, a local hack sportswriter. Roger was posed looking into the camera, while holding his chin with thumb and forefinger (you know the pose). The caption read: "He looks like he's thinking- but then, you read the articles..." Mary Kay strikes me the same. *EDIT* found the pic
"too many notes, not enough music-"

Nathan Zegura explained on CBD that Stefanski’s contract with the Vikings expired this past midnight and he is now free to interview anywhere.

So what DC has ties to Kitchens? Blake Williams. . . . goes wherever his dad goes. Why? If his dad goes somewhere it would be as the DC. So why would either Gregg or Blake want Blake to take a demotion and not take an opportunity to be an NFL DC? At some point all children have to step out from the shadows of their parents and this would provide the perfect opportunity to do that.

Because we basically fired his dad. I don’t think Blake Williams is a horrible option, I just don’t see it happening.

Well we really don't even know if Kitchens will be the HC. But I don't see how anyone would call it "firing his dad". An interim HC has a definition that means temporary. It doesn't mean you were the permanent HC to begin with. If Gregg doesn't want the DC position, I don't see any logical reason Blake wouldn't accept the position. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Me neither.. buy what did Kitchens do that seemed like magic after he took over. ? Ran the offense.. as the OC. Did nothing as a head coach. Why promote him away from what he did well and try someone else?

How they could hire Stefanski over Kitchens, I have no Idea. I don't know enough about Stefanski to offer an opinion and I'm not sure anyone does really... I do know what I saw Kitchens do in 8 weeks and I'm convinced that we need to keep him pretty much at all costs. I do have concerns about his leadership style in terms of running the whole ship. I am a bit old school and do like my head coach to be a bit of a disciplinarian and hold his players accountable... I'm not saying Freddie can't do this but my intuition tells me it may not be a strength of his, and I think we need that with where this team is.. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes... Maybe Freddie is ok with Stephanski being HC and he being the OC... I would think that it's possible Freddie would be pissed at losing the HC job to Stephanski due to their resumes being quite similar.. I'm nervous about the whole thing.

Looks like McNepoleon decided to take his toys and go home. I honestly think he will never get a HC chance again. I also think that when brady retires, so does BB and Mcdaniels takes over Do you often think completely contradictory thoughts?

Its logical but timing wise it makes no sense .... Why would we not have announced Fred has the new HC ... this has to be for the HC position right now as it makes no sense for it to be for OC as we haven’t announced our HC decision yet ... We dont need Minni’s permission to talk to him anymore for any position as his contract runs out today i think ... I said we’d know in a few weeks ... we may know as early as tomorrow ... Where’s the jeporday music when u need it ... *L* ..

Everyone knows the boss is incompetent. The boss is fired. He is replaced by a temporary boss who is not incompetent. He is highly competent, but he is not the right boss for the company long term. Someone else within the company is interviewed and hired to replace the temporary boss. Wouldn't it be really weird for the old boss to be walking around the same walls, but without the same authority he had weeks before? I say yes.

It makes no sense timing wise regardless ....
If he was interviewing for the OC job we would have all ready announced Fred as the HC ... then just waited til tomorrow to interview Stepanski ...
IF we do hire Fred ... we have NO CLUE why Dorsey hired him other than he knows O ...
Does Dorsey think he’s a leader of men and have great orgazational skills ... the skill set of a HC and the skill set of a coordinator are DIFFERENT ...
IF we do announce Fred ... what does that “mean” as far as roles go on the coaching staff ...

If we hire Fred now for HC, and are bringing back Stepanski today, we're going to have some explaining to do as why we were interviewing a coach for a lateral move when we were only authorized to interview them for an HC promotion. So even if it's known to them what they are going to do, they can't share that with the interviewees, at least until midnight.

Wouldn't it be really weird for the old boss to be walking around the same walls, but without the same authority he had weeks before? I say yes. I've been there. I had a Lt. who was demoted for administrative (not disciplinary) reasons. He had been my boss, but now he was my equal. He was replaced by a Sgt. who had served under him. Yes, it was awkward at first, but we adapted. It's not the insurmountable obstacle you project. My point was playing off Mac's observation that he remembers Williams saying he would like to stay on in whatever capacity. If true, then the scenario I suggested would be good. G Williams would be a much better STC than Jones has been. And even if the Williams reversed roles, I would like it.

NFL Person: "Why did you interview Stefanski for the offensive coordinator job when he wasn't out of contract yet?" Browns Person: "The interview was for head coach, we decided to go in a different direction. But in talking to Kevin we decided he would be a great fit as our offensive coordinator."

Time is of the essence. IF we do announce Fred ... what does that “mean” as far as roles go on the coaching staff ... I think some assistants will go (I would guess Zampese and a lot of the defensive staff). We hire an offensive coordinator, but Kitchens calls plays.

Zegura seems confident in saying it expired at midnight this morning or this past midnight. Either way, it doesn't really matter in the long run. A technicality on when the interview could take place.
