Things are looking good on paper. Let's hope they actually work well together now.

I knew I remembered the name, but was not sure when and where. Was he a TE?

I forgot about Dray

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Jim Dray was a TE on the Cardinals when Freddie was in Arizona. (2010-2013)He probably knows him fairly well.

Here's why we know his name:

Quote:
On March 13, 2014, he signed with the Cleveland Browns.[5] Dray's first season with the Browns ended with 17 receptions, for 242 yards, and 1 touchdown on 28 targets.[6] In Dray's 2015 season, he had 6 receptions for 61 yards on 16 targets.[6] On February 18, 2016, Dray was released.

I remembered his name.

I remember seeing his one TD, but I couldn't tell you who we played, what the final score was (we prob lost) or who threw him the pass.

I remember saying: "Jim who???"

I think the DC will fill out his Asst. Coaches if he needs help then Kitchens and Dorsey will give him some advise on some good staff out there.

Speculation on our LB coach position .... a name I'd keep an eye on .....

Al Holcomb. He was DC under Wilks in Arizona, and has solid experience coaching Carolina's linebackers.

Can we please hire Robert Couch who was likely let go from the Bengals?

At least there's no way Wilks hires back Mike McCoy. I hear his dad has his nose up the teams butt all the time.

This is a very out of the box hire. This guy is one of the best head coaches in CFL history. The CFL also plays a very different brand of football that has ton of pre snap motion and high volume passing.

When you think about it, the CFL has been a wide open game for a long time. Wide open, spread the field. That is where the NFL is headed. Back to Flutie to be honest.

Good hire.....maybe great hire.

Browns interviewing Al Holcomb, former Cardinals DC; Gregg Williams finalizing deal with Jets per reports | cleveland.com
https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2019/01...er-reports.html

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns are interviewing former Cardinals defensive coordinator Al Holcomb on Wednesday, according to Joe Person of The Athletic.

Holcomb served as defensive coordinator in 2018 in Arizona under head coach Steve Wilks, who was hired Sunday as Browns defensive coordinator. The Cardinals boasted the No. 4 pass defense in 2018, but had the 32nd-ranked run defense and finished No. 20 overall.

Holcomb, 48, served as Panthers linebackers coach for five seasons before following Wilks to Arizona. He broke into the NFL as a defensive quality control assistant with the Giants in 2009, and was promoted to defensive assistant in 2011.

j/c...

Some interesting observations.

Al Saunders still Senior Offensive Asst.

Ryan Lindley a QB now to his comfort zone as our QB coach

Stump Mitchell a scat back with an incredible 1985 season now our Run Game Coordinator part of his official Job title along with RB Coach

Mark Hutson still our assistant OL coach

Greg Seamon still our TE Coach

Adam Henry still our WR Coach

I like the guys we are keeping here along with the new hires!

They just haven’t updated the site fully yet. They still have Blake Williams misted as the linebacker coach.

I'll say one thing, those thinking Freddie didn't have any contacts around the league were wrong. This staff is coming together quickly, and is good.

Hmm ... he was secondary/pass game defense coordinator in Green Bay.

I wonder what that means for DeWayne Walker, who they reportedly retained, and like.

I think it’s a combo of Dorsey and Kitchens. Which is how it should be.

Some teams have a cornerback coach AND a safety coach. I wonder if that’ll be our setup.

Full speed ahead, it sounds like. Impressed with the progress on the staffing. Captain Kitchens and Commander Dorsey are seriously busy.

It probably needs to be Commander Kitchens and Captain Dorsey because a Captain outranks a Commander in the Navy.

A Captain in the Navy is similar to a Colonel in the Army. A ship is considered a base command.

I remember being OK with his release. High point of his career in Cleveland. Releasing TE's has been our idea of continuity (and coaches, and . . . well, you get the idea).
