I don't think you understand the details and options that Foles has.

I understand perfectly.

His biggest power is to say that he will NOT sign an extension with the eagles, or with ANY team that trades for him ... or that he will sign an extension, but only with the team of HIS choice, and with trade terms agreeable to HIM. (and I don't know why more players don't exercise this aspect of things. For example, "If a team trades a 1st round pick and also any other picks for me, I feel that would hurt my new team, and I would not agree to sign an extension with them.")

I think that if he is franchised tagged, he should sign it immediately, and put the Eagles under the gun.

In the end though, his option is to sign the franchise tag, and hope that a favorable team trades for him ..... or that he can force the Eagles to trade him where he wants to go. That's really about it, unless he wants to pull a Bell and sit out the entire year.

What it does is put the Eagles under the gun of having to pay him that entire 25 mil. under the salary cap in a single season. Looking at the Eagles current salary cap situation, it would put a strangle hold on them. The ball would be in Foles hands and put the Eagles in a very poor position.

Foles is 30, Flacco is 34.. and Foles is more athletic if you are thinking he might be running for his life for a year or so while you get your Ol in place.
