10 would be a best case situation...the talent, coaching, and breaks go our way.

That isn't to say Savage is looking for 10 wins. It is simply from a talent standpoint.

Heck....Eo is saying we have the talent to win 16.

Is that 16 including or not including the playoffs?

I'm not sure we have the players to win 10 this year...

are you saying that if we don't win 10 then it's the coaching staff's fault since we have the talent to win 10?

Diam, Charger, others - you do recall that Savage came within a whisker of losing his job in a power struggle with Collins in January '06, right? We are talking about millions of dollars here, and a job the likes of which there are only 32 of in the whole world. Please don't tell me there's not a small degree (at least) of CYA in Savage's statements. At this point PS cannot save RAC if the team comes out and sucks canal water again. I don't wish it happens, but have no doubt, if the team starts the season with embarrassing losses inside the Central Division, Romeo is toast - and Savage has to insulate himself from that possibility.

LOL.....no...that isn't what I am saying either. Sometimes players don't perform, and sometimes you just lose.

I don't know what the magic number might be....if there even is one...but there is probably a combination of wins and the way the team plays that will dictate if Romeo sticks around.

Look.....you are a sharp guy....you know when we win lucky and lose ugly, or lose a good game.....just keep that in mind as the season unfolds and we will have our answer.

You can't put a number on it....you just know it....if that makes any sense.

I agree with this post of yours more than almost all the others in this thread... because it's gotta be a quality of play vers a quantity of wins when it comes down to the coaching staff this year. Now I'm not saying if we win only 4 but look great then RAC would be safe... but I just don't see us winning double digits with this team and think it'd be unfair to use that as a measuring stick.

We'll see... should be a fun year.

It should be fun.

In the scheme of things...the number of "lucky or ugly" wins is usually fairly small and the number of "good" losses is fairly small...so they sort of balance out over time.

No matter what the number is, I reiterate, it will probably be fairly clear to most if Romeo needs another year or if he needs to hit the road.

the only 1 we really have evidence that Phil has put in place is Wimbley...

I can't wait for the Browns to start winning more games...start seeing him in Hawaii. I'm tired of seeing Browns with probowl talent getting snubbed.

Just out of curiosity, what browns have been snubbed for the pro bowl?

Winslow and Jones were our 2 best players last year, but they both had breakout years on a bad team and both have absolute monsters at their same position in the AFC.

I can see Wimbley developing further and having a pro-bowl season within the next couple years. And that's even with Merriman being a sure-fire pro-bowler every year he's healthy. You can quote me on that.. he's a freak.

I really don't think that the Browns will suck this year. I think they will be much more competitve this year. The biggest question for me is how soon Quinn plays. If the Browns start poorly it is only reasonable to think that Quinn will be starting.

This is a relatively young team. 24 of the 53 players are 3 years or less (meaning 2 years prior experience) in the NFL. It will take time for the team to mature.

Savage said that we stayed with the Bears and the Broncos...and that the personnell difference between us really isn't that great. There is truth there.

I think that JUST BY HAVING AN IMPROVED OL, WE'LL GET MORE WINS.
Now, if Chud's offense offers more shifts and stuff, instead of the pure vanilla 'we're not good enough to move around much' offense of the past, we'll be even better offensively. Maybe now we have guys on the OL that can actually pull off a screen pass.

Our D is improved on paper. Our LB's are a year older, we've added Peak...our DB's are a year older, we've added the Wrights.

I agree with Savage that our starters can probably hang with starters accross the league. We COULD win a lot more games this year. It COULD be that we don't win a lot but play well in a lot more games. We'll have to see how it plays out.
Who knows at this point. With an improved OL and a rushing attack, maybe Frye makes the pro bowl. We just don't know what we have yet...we just THINK we have...
