Ok this is really an odd question.
My Brother lives in Pittsburgh and he mentioned the rumor around town is that Haden is on his way out.
I haven't payed any attention to Joe except when we play them and wasn't exactly overwhelmed with his play.
Did I miss something, is he playing well? if so, is he someone that would make a good fit here again for the second time? Again, just asking

Joe is by far their best CB, in a secondary that is limited by talent. I see no reason why they would get rid of their Best CB, when the #2 CB was benched 2 or 3 times throughout the year.

They will probably restructure his contract. If not he might be cut, they are going to be in a bind because of the Antonio Brown situation.

I thought he played OK last year, but probably not $10 million good, His cap hit for 2019 would be almost $12 million, with a dead cap of only slightly less than $2 million if cut. I don't know that we'll be interested in Haden if he should become available, or that he would want to come back.

He left Cleveland because he didn't want to restructure his contract... so we'll see what happens, I guess. Sounds like maybe Haden breeds dysfunction. They weren't a dysfunctional franchise before he arrived...

Well Dorsey did not get rid of him so he would be fair game I would think.
It all depends on price...get Joe for longevity maybe even make him a FS or a slot CB...but his age. Soon to be 30 come April. But he has had a lot of miles on those tires.
I would not mind him at all. Also want Desir another let go I think by Sashi not Dorsey.
No trade with the Steelers...let them do their thing and cut him.

I wouldn't mind him coming home, I have a Color Rush jersey of his that I bought a week after the trade (it was $20-25). I were that more often than my original style jerseys.

Have we ever cut/traded/let someone go to free agency, and then they come back?
Highly doubt it happens. Personally, Haden could never be counted on to make the big play when we needed it. I think we're better without him.

Along with that OPINION of Dorsey one thing to add, he did not cut Haden a FO did and one that when coming here stated how we were lacking Football Players! Haden was a football player one that we actually lived through his injuries then when he was getting back to good health - We cut him.
All depends whether Dorsey's Football eye will be more influencing in any decision over any analytics involved.
If its a sensible contrack. I would not mind him here. He won't start I don't think at either CB but in the slot or FS for passing downs if we go zone. But also a good guy to have if we are going to experience the injury bug as we did last season.

No. Have teams that are competent, with a history of having good players? Yes. I'd rather get to the playoffs before we give Haden his goodbye tour. But as far as I'm concerned, Josh Cribbs, Joe Haden and Joe Thomas are the first three Browns players since the return (I'd count Phil, but #kickersaren'tpeople), I would love to see him out of the black and yellow and back into the brown and orange.

No Cleveland athlete during my lifetime has shown the city more love than Joe Haden. He played at a pro bowl level, when other players were quitting on the team. He was court side at Cavs games, when we had LBJ and when we had Dion. Dude adopted this city exactly like a Star should and he should always be honored by the Browns and the city. I cannot speak highly enough of the dude, and he's extremely nice in person, always willing to take a photo with a fan. My friend got a picture with him last year at Momocho. I really hope he plays for the Browns again, sometime soon. While I don't think he'll get cut by the Steelers this year, I hope he goes to free agency next year.

He's a solid 3rd corner. Big fan of Joe, would love to see him back. Problem is he is about to be 30.

Emotionally, I can get onboard with the idea of Joe Haden coming home to Cleveland.
In terms of cost vs performance, I don't see him being more than marginally better than what we can draft and groom, however. We already have Mitchell as the "veteran" CB as well as Gaines and Carrie along with Ward now having a year under his belt. We have more than adequate "veteran presence"; we need to start grooming young talent that will be here for the long haul.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

I really like Joe when he was here. He was injured quite a bit at the end though. I would love to see him retire in a Browns uniform.

I think when you break down the difference between emotions and practicality your post explains it well.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Have we ever cut/traded/let someone go to free agency, and then they come back? Yes, to name a few: Paul Warfield - Traded in '69 to Miami/re-signed with the Browns when the World Football League folded after the '75 season. Mike Baab - Traded to NE in '88/re-signed as a Plan B free agent in '90. Earnest Byner - Traded to the Redskins in '89 for RB Mike Oliphant/re-signed as a free agent in '94. Antonio Langham Orlando Brown

Ward, Mitchell, Calhoun, Haden and my choice of Desir or possibly another in FA. Would have us going into the Draft without a NEED just an upgrade. Keep in mind I think you cannot have enough CBs that are Good, Great or Average on your roster.
Also I believe Haden is of the age to take some reps at FS. jmho

The elder statesman CB we should have kept was McCourty.
If Haden isn't valuable-enough to the Cheaters and their awful D backfield, how could he be valuable-at-all to us?

I think value of bringing Haden here at least with this poster was one of depth not a starter. Yeah I didn't get the McCourty trade...I can only guess there was friction with Williams or possibly with Hue or Both? Maybe Ward and then Mitchell taking his starting spot was considered negatively by McCourty. So we worked out a deal for him it seemed to be a trade instead of just Cutting him. Well hope we get a Pro Bowler with that 7th round pick this year...lol
But there had to be some negative for that trade.

Has anyone confirmed that the Steelers really want to part ways w/Haden?
Personally, I think our current group of corners are better than either Haden or McCourty.

lol after doing a quick check. Ummm no, not a peep. Actually Haden was awarded the highest honor to a Steeler some award after the owner. As of 1/7, he was gung ho on the Steelers prospects for 2019 and the Steelers remarks on Haden was more along the lines that he's gotten better with age.
So this thread after review comes down to this and Thread started by this, which in the day of Pure Football fame, threads like this were not allowed. My Brother lives in Pittsburgh and he mentioned the rumor around town is that Haden is on his way out. Just a rumor around town by a brother of Daman...lol not really an acquired source.

Personally, I think our current group of corners are better than either Haden or McCourty. I think that it was an opinion that they could drop Haden, and a release or restructure of Haden really makes sense. The Steelers have $10 million in cap space. (with their top 51) They have an issue with Brown. Haden will cost somewhere around $9 million next year if he plays at his current contract. He's the kind of veteran who does find himself on the outs as the league year opens.

More importantly, the Steelers would get more money by cutting either Mike Mitchel or William Gay. I think we're doomed to watch Haden play out the rest of his contract there. Hopefully we knock them out of playoff contention so we won't have to see his contract get dragged out by playoff games
