What if we don’t re-sign Perriman ... like i said ... i’m Not real optimistic with him caue of who his agent is ...
What r your thoughts then? ...
IF we do re-sign Perriman what is that the two Browns bring to the room that we don’t all ready have? ... why them so early in the draft? ... what is is u like about them and what do thy bring to the room is we re-sign Perriman? ...
yeah we will see I too don't like the agent but common the kid only caught what 16 passes in 10 games.
If he asks for a lot I'd be shocked if anyone would go for it. We would value him more than any other cause he has a good grasp of our Offense to come as it shouldn't change much just I think ADD to it. And he has familiarity with Baker.
The only thing is that this is a poor FA class this kid Williams is talked around like he is something special...what he is, is the best FA WR out there which isn't saying much.
None that I saw in top 25 ranking of FA.
If we don't sign him then we will probably draft a good WR at 49 or 3rd round. Its pretty deep draft class and the D is a great draft class so I think WRs will drop.
But progress from our other WRs. including two promising ones. Perriman just might fall by the wayside like Pryor did leaving us. I think we are Perriman's best bet especially now with Baker. I do see possibly after nobody bites for his Big contract...he signs a one year here.
Of course now that we got Hunt also between him and Duke they fit in as playmakers in the pass game as well.
One thing I would like to note.
Any and I MEAN ANY WR will benefit from being in the slot. For the simple fact usually that is the 3rd most talented CB on the team and there usually is descent drop from 1 & 2 CBs to the 3rd CB.
So again stating he is better at slot WR (many of course saying that about Landry) I'm saying there is not one WR of ours including Njoku, Duke and Hunt that would not benefit from lining up in the slot.
Best yet is when we go Twins left and Right...with 2 slot WRs. Now one of them has their 4th best CB on them. Baker is smart and he will see the Miss match. Then his next read is Zone or man???

J/C The other day, I replied to a Hollywood Higgins tweet saying we'd all be happy if he signed a contract extension with the Browns. He quoted my tweet and said, "I'm waiting just like you bro." https://twitter.com/CALLME_WOOD/status/1098987205807259650I'm not sure how to feel about that. I'd have hoped at least some preliminary discussions would have occurred. But, as someone who wants to see Higgins retained, it has me a little uneasy. Two thoughts, however. 1. Reports, as has been posted, suggest the Browns are currently trying to lock down Robinson to a multi-year deal at LT. Perhaps the focus is on him before moving on to Higgins and Perriman. 2. Higgins won't be a coveted free agent in an oddly loaded free agency class. Amongst the free agents are Golden Tate, Adam Humphries, Randall Cobb, Cole Beasley, Donte Moncrief, Tyrell Williams, Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, John Brown, Devin Funchess, Kelvin Benjamin, Dontrelle Inman, Kevin White and Jamison Crowder. This class is oddly loaded because all of them are interesting options who could provide production but none are star receivers or true #1 options. Not event he cream of the crop like Tate, Cobb and Williams are legitimate #1 options. With such a diverse range of options, the contracts are likely going to be a lot smaller. Higgins will come cheap, and allowing his market to set itself will avoid him perhaps feeling unwanted by the team if they just throw out a likely lowball offer. With the above said, I think he's a very underrated receiver based on his connection with Mayfield. Higgins and Mayfield quickly built chemistry and established themselves as an unstoppable duo on the second team during training camp. When Mayfield came in, it isn't a coincidence that Higgins gained a lot more reps. Higgins very quietly smashed out 39 receptions (on just 53 targets) for 572 yards and 4 touchdowns. As I said to a friend on Facebook, you don't accidently become a favourite target of Baker Mayfield. Perhaps its wishful thinking, but I think Kitchens will see that Higgins is an asset to the team, and he'll hear from Dorsey soon.

I like Higgins and would like to see us resign him ... he did a real nice job for us last year ... I LOVE the fact he catches the ball ... that’s very very important to me .... but at the end of the day .... he’s just another guy ... he’s not that hard to replace ...
I’d like to see us resign him but i’m not gonna be upset if we don’t ...
If we only resign one of them ... IMO its Perriman in a landslide ... u can’t teach speed and he’s got plenty to burn ...
Very cool he responded to your tweet .... not sure why we haven’t at least reached out to him to tell him what our plan is yet ... I have no clue how that stuff works so maybe thats just how it done ... we have a true pro running things now as opposed to a lawyer ... so i have to trustKJ knows what he’s doing ....
Another 3 weeks and a whole lot of things will get cleared up ... 3/13 will be the big splash day as its the 1st day u can sign FA’s .... that will be an interesting day to say the least ...

Very cool. I would hope Higgins resigns soon... the first comment from your tweet was spot on, the offense was better when Higgins was around. That right there should make him a priority.
One thing to keep in mind, we still have Louis under contract at the moment. I wonder what number he'll wear this season...

I would not be surprised if Higgins' waiting isn't just waiting to have things worked out between the team and his agent. I WOULD be surprised if his agent hasn't at least heard SOMETHING from the team up to this point.
Browns is the Browns

Keep in mind Higgins is a RFA so no need to get it done now. I'm sure we will tender him this way we can match any contract he signs. If not we will get compensation.
A 2nd round tender is not that much if you ask me.
So don't get ants in your pants we are in no rush with Higgins as he is pretty much a lock to stay if we want him.

But ...... how will he be with Adam Henry coaching him up? He was out before camp started last year, with a neck injury. I am not saying the guy will become anything ..... but Henry has done a great job with the receivers .... so I am not counting any of them out.

My hope is that we retain both Higgins and Perriman. But it's not beyond the possible that the Browns find upgrades.
As much as I like both, if you can upgrade you gotta do it right? It's a weird one because they're both surprisingly difficult to upgrade, in my opinion. Perriman is hard to upgrade because of his natural talent. When you add that former-first-round talent, and then take in to account that we saw that talent start to translate to the field with Kitchens and Mayfield, he becomes a difficult upgrade. It's difficult to find that talent for the low price that Perriman will cost, and difficult to know if that talent will translate as Perriman did. With that said, it was only a flash in the pan and we can't say that will continue, but damn did he look good. As for what Diam said regarding Higgins being just a guy, I agree on talent. Outside of his excellent hands, pretty much everything about him is near boarderline NFL. He's got enough, but not nearly enough to be great. With that said, I can't shake that Higgins became a favourite of Baker Mayfield, and why he became so damn effective as a guy Baker wanted when he needed someone. Just throwing on a highlight tape of Mayfield. 3rd & 12 vs Oakland, Higgins makes a contested 3rd down catch. 3rd & 16 vs Baltimore, Higgins grabs a first down. Down 3-0 with 40 seconds left in the half vs Baltimore, Higgins annihilates his 1v1 for the TD. 3rd & 10 vs Baltimore with Baker in trouble, Higgins makes a contested catch to get the Browns in the red-zone up 3-6 in the 3rd. Under heavy pressure vs Atlanta, Mayfield throws the hope up for Higgins who comes down with the TD to get the Browns on the board. 3rd & 12, down 14-17 with 2:26 in the second, Baker finds Higgins on a contested catch for the first down to keep the drive alive. Down 20-7 with 10 seconds left in the first half, under extreme pressure on 2nd & 10, Mayfield throws up a prayer to Higgins who comes down with it in FG range. Of course, those aren't the only catches, but they are examples of Higgins being a trusted receiver when Mayfield needed him. I love guys like that. Higgins established himself early on the 2nd team with Mayfield, and I don't think it's a coincidence he got more and more reps when Mayfield became the starting quarterback. Then there is the little things. Against the Jets, Higgins recovered a Duke fumble because he was the only player watching out for a potential fumble. I began to notice that when a player is tackled near him, he gets near the tackle and prepares for a potential fumble. He's always blocking. Actually, that just seems a Browns thing. Higgins, Callaway and Landry all block. LOVE seeing that. So it's somewhat opposite for both. It is hard to upgrade Perriman's talent for the same price. While it's easy to upgrade Higgins' talent, that talent may not be as reliable, trusted and productive. And, of course, that's from the perspective that both players should be extremely cheap. I think both could be upgraded, for sure, but I'm a little wary of rolling the dice on a potential upgrade when we're talking about two players who, combined, had production nearly equal to that of Jarvis Landry on HALF the targets.

Perriman didn't either. It's why he got cut. In fact, it's why SI had him on their overrated list for the 2015 draft. 2015 NFL draft: Breshad Perriman, more overrated prospects | SI.com https://www.si.com/nfl/2015/04/29/2015-nfl-draft-overrated-prospects-breshad-perriman-arik-armsteadWe're calling this a breakdown of "overrated" prospects. But what that really means, as it relates to the NFL draft, is that the players included below could be overdrafted—taken higher than they should be based on what they have shown as prospects. That does not mean they all will bomb in the NFL or that they are terrible players. Without fail, though, every draft elevates several prospects beyond where their realistic ceilings. Here are 10 may fit the bill this year: Breshad Perriman, WR, Central Florida The NFL loves upside. The notion drives the entire draft, to some extent—teams do as much research as they can on prospects, only to cross their fingers and hope they'll get the anticipated level of bang for their buck. But there always are a few guys who garner a longer look based almost entirely on the dream of what they might some day become. Breshad Perriman, WR, Central Florida The NFL loves upside. But there always are a few guys who garner a longer look based almost entirely on the dream of what they might some day become. Perriman is front and center for that movement in 2015. He is a big, brilliantly athletic, home-run threat at the wide receiver position ... who also is not all that far along is his development as a player. Perriman's hands are a concern, as is his route-running. Per the NFL Network's Lance Zierlein, Perriman, at 13.8%, had "far and away the worst" drop rate of any early-round receivers last season. And yet, he has been mentioned throughout the past few weeks as a likely Round 1 pick, perhaps even a top-10 option. Maybe down the road, his game matches up with that hype. Right now, the buzz surrounding him has surpassed the actual product.

I’ve seen Louis ... i don’t even remember Perriman being with the Rats ... im sure i saw him but i don’t remember him ... I was wrong on Perriman without prior knowledge ... i’ve seen Louis ... he has stone hands ... AGAIN .. I HOPE I’M WRONG .. ooops .. sorry bout the caps ... I’ll be STUNNED if he’s on our team and shocked if he’s in the NFL .. You can have your opinion ... only way mine changes is like Perriman did ... show up and CATCH THE BALL .... if Louis does that for 1/2 a year ... i’ll be happy as heck ... After having EYES ON ... i’m very confident in my evaluation of him ... no article u post or your faith in Henry will change that ... Louis appeared to be “fighting with the ball even when he caught it ... *L* ... Here’s to hoping your right and i’m wrong ... i was dead wrong on Perriman ... lets hope i’m wrong on our version of Featherstone ....

I'm not saying that he's a superstar, or even a competent WR .... just that Henry is a really good WR coach, who made even a former bust, a late round pick and an UDFA look decent to good.

I agree w/you about hoping we keep Higgins. He was one of the guys ed and I were pimping as a possible later-round draft choice. He's flashed some in the last year and half.
I agree w/Diam in that I doubt Louis makes the team. He has poor hands. That's tough to overcome.

Louis will be in the NFL. He's got the size and speed. Everything else, well, there is a whole lot of people in the NFL who believe they have the knowledge and wisdom to "fix" anyone.
I'm actually really excited to see what he can do in camp. He often tweeted throughout Browns games and it looks like he's been working his tail off. He's a very vocal supporter of Mayfield, and it seems like he's dying to get out there and have a crack.
I'd give him a generous 3% chance of making the roster, but those are the kind of odds that should light a fire. Wishing him nothing but the best.

“I think more than likely, Perriman sounds like he may go and see what is his market value is beyond March 13, before he sings with the Browns,” Grossi said. Grossi is on a roll. The quote is goofy and I didn't know that Perriman was a singer w/the Browns.

Yep, WR's that run a sub 4.3 40 are everywhere.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

IF (big if) Higgins gets a contract, it won't be til after the draft.
If Dorsey drafts a WR, he'll probably use that as leverage against Higgins and his agent.

If Dorsey drafts a WR, he'll probably use that as leverage against Higgins and his agent. Being a restricted FA changes things in this scenario I believe. You may be right, we may wait to sign Higgins. I'm not privy about how all this works, but I think we can tender Higgins at his original draft status, which I think was 5th round? If someone wishes to trade a 5th rd pick for Higgins they can attempt to sign him. If we don't match the offer, the team trades us a 5th round pick. Or we can match said offer. We might wait until the "new year" and see what his market value is before signing him, but I suspect he'll be somewhere before the draft... cfrs usually corrects me on this stuff... I'd like his input.

I don't know if he's just another guy, but I wouldn't want to pay big money to a player that has 916 yards in three seasons. And it seems like Perriman is going to get big money because there aren't many good free agent receivers.

Won't we have a new line coach and a new OC this year too? Hard to say if he will adapt to anything new just because he played well in last years system.

Yep, WR's that run a sub 4.3 40 are everywhere. Someone is clearly horny for the underwear Olympics this week. You can be as fast in a straight line as you want, but the amount of times you'll see a free release is less than the amount of times they let someone run. Big fast guys are available all the time. Tyrell Williams, beat us deep with a 4.4 speed. Cordarelle Patterson is also a big fast guy on the outside. Historically, they'll get you 10x your value with Breshad. The dude got cut this year, it's not crazy to think he's not worth more than 5 mil a year. If Breshad was irreplaceable then he wouldn't have found himself cut before his rookie contract ended.

A fast release? How many CB's in the NFL run a sub 4.3 40? They can't keep up with him after he's released. The only thing that ever held Perriman back was his hands. That didn't seem to be an issue for him this year. If he had caught the ball that way in Baltimore, he'd still be a WR there.
No, speed alone won't do it for you. Great route running can overcome a lack of speed. But if you run a sub 4.3 40 and have good hands, nobody can keep up with you. You really have no point to be made here.

The Browns would be better off (should it come to this) to sign Higgins to a second round tender. Apparently, it would only cost about $1M more in salary as compared to a fifth (original) round tender. An original round tender would likely not be a steep enough price to keep a team from signing him to an offer sheet. A second round tender would at least would buy the Browns another year at a team friendly price. I don't see another team giving up a second round pick for Higgins.
