j/c...

lots of attention all are giving on WR once again. I just don't get it.

DK the one true stud won't be there as he pretty much locked in a top 10 pick I think maybe top 5.

Hopefully Campbell will be there in the 3rd round. Where I expect us to use a pick maybe for a WR.

Gary was said by many to be the top guy in this draft.

Any CB burners? Or they didn't run yet?

Not really watching much combine this year.

Devin White looks fast, fast, fast ..... oh, and he ran a 4.42. (3rd fastest ever for a LB)

Man I hope he falls to us, or that we move up to grab him.

I think he is the only player Dorsey would look at besides a DT ....

I really think we are in a can't lose situation at #17 - and you KNOW that some other players like Metcalf and the QB's are going to rise which only pushes others down. There are 2 LBs at least 3 or 4 DL and Baker (CB) who I would love to see available at #17

But you intend to take the 17, I hope. I am drooling over some of what I have seen at Combine.

Anyone remember Boss Bailey the LB ran like a 4.42 or something years ago...oh yeah and his brother Champ ran a 4.28 lol But White's speed is incredible, if he gets it together and can learn to diagnose a play....that speed will be lethal.

Panthers would be dumb not to jump all over Sweat if he falls to them...Anyone see any other DE/DT/LB that really stood apart? I know Lawerence (DT) showed great for a big...Dremont Jones kinda disappointed...But any other big names stood out?

Thanks Whip, I read he did well in his other testing, which I assume was prior to him getting injured...Been trying to follow anything online, so Ed Oliver didn't run..But showed well in other testing. Christian Wilkins looked average...While Gary and Quinnen Williams looked like freaks...Pretty interesting combine to say the least.

Burns looked pretty freaky athletic. Super smooth and great hands in the LB drills.

Does anyone know anything about Remell Wren from Arizona State? He was w/the interior linemen, but I thought he displayed good quickness, explosiveness, and good twitch. I could see him as a late round guy as a situational pass rusher, maybe even lining up on the outside occasionally.

Or, am I totally whacked?

Renell Wren NFL draft profile

https://draftwire.usatoday.com/2019/02/22/renell-wren-nfl-draft-profile/

Renell Wren | DT | Arizona State
Height | 6-4

Weight | 315

Class | Senior

College Bio

Career Stats

A two-year starter at Arizona State, Wren lined up primarily as the nose in the Sun Devils’ 3-3-5 defense.

Wren flashes on tape with his athleticism, first step quickness and upper-body power to jolt blockers and make stops at or behind the line of scrimmage. Wren plays balanced on his feet with snap anticipation and coordinated movements, but needs to improve his pad level to better clear single blockers when not squared up.

Although he has a strong punch, he needs to further enhance his usage with his hands to counter offensive lineman. The former Arizona State product is not perfect and is definitely an unfinished product, but the upside is there. Wren will appeal to teams with his relentless playing temperament, quickness, and power to control the point of attack.

Current Projection: 3rd Round

Thanks Grateful. No wonder he stood out to me. He had the highest grade. I'm Captain Obvious. LOL

I had never heard of the dude. But he looked quick and explosive to me. I can't believe he is 315 lbs. I thought he was around 290 by looking at him. So much for "the edge" comment.

Third round is pretty high. I was hoping he was more of a sleeper.

Thanks again for the knowledge.

There was some interior dude from Arkansas who caught my eye as well. I can't remember his name, though.

Obviously, I am pointing out guys that didn't get a lot of pub.

I wonder if that cat from 'Bama might end up going first or second overall now. He had one helluva day.

I'm not sure. I was working out and had it on. The dude from AZ St caught my eye and so did one dude from Arkansas. He was an interior D-lineman.

I didn't watch the 40's. Boring.

It was the drills. I like bag drills where a guy sets his hips low and explodes upwards w/power. Some of those guys were pathetic. Not this guy.

I also liked his change of direction and feet for such a big man.

Again, I was looking for guys who might not be at the top of the draft.

Have you watched that dude? If so, how is his game tape?

Btw---there was another guy from Central Florida or somewhere like that who kinda stood out. Looked like a fat boy, but he moved pretty good and showed some good power and had a pretty good bend.

Not personally, but here is his bio:

Analysis
By Lance Zierlein (graded him above Wren)
NFL Analyst
NFL Comparison
Shamar Stephen
Overview
Ascending interior defender who committed himself to the work and took the coaching and went from a lightly-used backup to the center stage his senior season. He is an efficient, downhill rusher with the power and hand usage to pry open opportunities for pressures and sacks. His recognition and response in the run game is behind, but his ability to anchor against double teams and defeat single blocks is NFL-caliber. Watts's size, strength and play traits should allow him consideration in both odd and even fronts as a future starter.

Strengths:
Versatility to play up and down the line
Good toughness for life inside
Pop and discard for the quick win
Impressive punch, extend, peek and shed as 2-gapper
Flashes bend and plugger power for nose reps
Posted good tape against Alabama
Shows variance to rush attack
Long upfield rush strides force guards into deeper sets
Developed booming punch and two-hand swipe as rush weapons
Accurate hands to snatch and displace blocker's wrist
Has leg drive to churn through the edge and press the pocket
Bends and corners to constrict passer's launch point

Weaknesses:
Lacks game experience as a four-year player
Tardy getting off the snap and up the field
Inconsistent initial steps to battle move blocks
Needs better feel for run play development
Runs himself behind wall-off blocks
Drops head and loses track of the ball at times
Better focus on keeping his pad level right
Feasted off of lambs for much of his sack production
Edge-to-edge rush attack lacks suddenness
Sources Tell Us

"He had some reps that really stood out in practice because of how strong guy was. He sets a strong anchor for being a taller tackle." -- Pro personnel director with AFC team on Shrine Game practices

Thank you. Wonder what his draft projection is? Sounds almost exactly what we need to help stop the run.

Again, I thought he was one of the guys that stood out today.

Projected grade of 5.7 would put him in the 2-3 round range.

For what its worth, he was the 81st highest graded prospect for the combine, so probably a 3rd round range.
