We're still in the bottom half of the west, but FINALLY our 12 game road trip is over. Next weekend we finally play at home. After starting out 0-5-1, we went 4-1-1. Our new signing scored 2 goals against Philly, so he's at 3 goals in 1 1/4 games. Things are looking up for us, barring injury.
Yay! We won and got out our losing slump. My favorite player scored 2 goals in extra time. And I am at the rowdy soccer bar. I made a new cool soccer friend, and my gf is bartending. All around good time. I needed to get out of my house.
It's hard to tell because of the shadow etc., but at 55 sec, slowed down, the ball looks like it crosses the line. It also looks close to being a handball by the offense.
But yeah, good saves, poor execution on the Minnesota forwards. When you are that close you gotta strike it right into the onion bag.
It wasn't quite as obvious as the infamous disallowed England goal in 2010 WC. As horrible as this was, it did change the game forever. After it, FIFA announced goal line technology w/cameras for 2014 WC. I was watching this live and was stunned they didn't allow it. Typical tho for England...they often get the short end of the stick in international matches.
Oh wow that is so in! Dont even know what the refs were thinking.
That was such a brutal loss. That goal would have equalized the game at 2-2, instead it deflated the team so irrevocably bad and they lost 1-4 (Germany were still the better team, however, it should never have been so lopsided).
Can't wait for tonight's game. We have gorgeous weather, and one of the biggest events of the year also today. They're expecting up to 300k people downtown this evening. The Timber's Army camped out yesterday for wristbands starting at 4pm, and there are quite a few LAFC fans hanging out. It's been way too long.
Nice result for you today...I know it isn't over but up by 2 with 5 min...
I didn't think of twitter - I know that twitter used to be the official or "official" stream partner.
LAFC fans are heading towards the stadium, they just walked by my place singing and chanting. Cool stuff overall, though several guys went a little too far by getting into Timbers fans faces (though from 7 floors up it could easily have been in humor, and Timbers fans could have instigated, though didn't hear anything).
Grabbed a dozen or so random brews and ciders for a few friends coming over. 2.5 hours to game time and there are thousands of people around already. Great stuff.
The pizza delivery person is gonna be ticked...my street is blocked off and there are a ton of people around. It isn't going to be easy, but she'll get a nice tip.
It was ugly, we gave the ball away badly way too many times. That being said, we played poorly and only lost to the best team in the league by 1.
I'm a little ticked, they moved us down 3 rows and we now have a pole obstructing the view of the goal.
Its cool seeing the stadium done now. I remember when it was a baseball stadium, then soccer, now this with the 4000 more seats. I will be on the field tomorrow for the Thorns - 9 of our players are in France for the world cup, but it'll be fun nonetheless.
Wow, didn't look at scores last night. You're right, looks like a rough one. Hopefully the team uses it to get better.
Love what we've been doing of late...its amazing what a few homes games does after 12 away to start the season. That and a striker that has scored 9 goals in his first 7 games.
So, MLS claims that Orlando is our rival. We couldnt care less about them.
NY Red Bulls on the other hand....we have deep hate for each other.
We have never beat them in regular season. Only in the playoffs.
It was chippy out there today.
And ended in a draw.
Just wait NYRB, we'll have our starters back for the playoffs....
And then ITS ON.
Post Edit... This Justin Meram is growing on me. Since we have so many starters out, he has been playing and scoring a lot. He is deadly and I hope we keep him. He is an Iraqi. I didnt know they have soccer scene over there.
Edit again: Oh no wait, Justin was born in Michigan to Iraqi parents. But he plays for the Iraqi National Team. I give up trying to understand all the weird things about how you can play for multiple teams in multiple leagues at the same time.
