If they block like a tackle and catch like Quincy Morgan, I don't want 'em.

I liked Fells. For some of the reasons mentioned. adequate TE. Good blocker, big target, decent hands. I disagree with Peen about using an extra guard if blocking is the issue...I would think 20 years of telegraphing what we are going to do would put a sour taste in his mouth. LOL Sure we still bring in an extra Guard when it makes sense...But having a tight end do the job is better as you never know if he is going into a pattern or staying to block.
But actually, one of the reasons I don't see posted thus far is the lockeroom presence.I saw him several times mentoring younger players and have many players look up to him. There was the soundbite I think with Baker after taking a big hit on a run...basically saying hey...you can't take those shots...we need you all year...I saw him as the Big Brother veteran.
Hope the best for him...good player...good person...Don't have an issue with him...and I don't have a real issue with the move. Interesting move on the surface. Will be even more interesting to see the next moves....as others have said...Dorsey has a plan.
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...

I liked Fells, big target, good blocker. He did not play nearly enough to warrant 3m this season though.
They primarily used the other guy, can't remember his name on a Monday morning as the fullback.

I disagree with Peen about using an extra guard if blocking is the issue... I am half joking when talking about a TE. Obviously you want them good at both, but if one area has to lack, let it be the blocking. I want my TE to be a part of the passing game, like catching the ball, not being a blocker. Maybe that clears it up a bit.

Fells is a player I would have liked to keep, but I'm not upset about losing.
In cutting him we gain about $900K in cap space. I just went on record that he grew on me...I was not originally impressed but the more he played I liked him.
He is not a spring chicken and I'm a big fan of the potential that Devalve brings. I'm sort of glad that he was not cut and possibly Kitchens sees what I do.
Devalve I think is PERFECT for that H=Back role. excellent pass catcher and has the speed that Fells did not.
I hope this is a statement about Devalve more so than Fells. The guys we were shopping seem to be out of our picture.
ooops better run 50 degrees here and have a 12:14 tee off out east! Can hardly walk and very painful but love the game and my Ankles and feet pump all the gook out when I golf and look normal when I'm done.!
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

If nobody noticed (which I think most folks didn't) Seth lined up at FB a lot toward the end of the season.

The guy had 11 receptions and was due 3m. Looking back it’s weird that he even got a multi year deal. Paying Fells any guaranteed money past the first year of the contract is not ideal.
